You know what? If that means we has collectors are more easily able to get MiC jerseys in a regular basis than its a immediate improvement over Adidas. But boy those prices, I'll only get them if they're on sale because paying half almost half a thousand bucks for a piece of clothing is absurd in my eyes
The wholesale price is definitely more palatable. I wonder what this will do to the value of team-issued & game-worn auctions, as much of those sales are currently due to them being the only MiCs available.
That’s fair. But if you’re thinking of the Authentic Pro line as just a “piece of clothing,” I think that’s where you’re losing the thread. (Ha, accidental pun.) People don’t buy a Rolex because it’s just a watch. This is a high-end product... and the high cost is probably why Adidas never offered it. Didn’t think they’d sell enough to make it worthwhile. The rest of the price tiers are not changing for next season-according to this catalog, at least.
Trust me, people were paying more than $400 through auctions for the game worn jerseys to get the made in canada jerseys before. This is basically a discount for people who want them.
What interests me is what they meant with "HD embroidery and holographic shield" Is it samespeak for dimensional embroidery (adidas trademark) and the chrome shield? Or something else
Chris another great news report so articulately narrated and unbiased. Your explanations and rationale are always sound and the presentation of the information is of the utmost professional quality. The NHL should be paying you for your coverage!!! :)
My main concern with fanatics is that they're such a huge monopoly in North American pro sports. If you don't like their products it's tough shit, they run every league's store.
You can boycott Fanatics if their poor quality and monopolist tendencies bother you enough. I know plenty of people who would rather buy vintage sports merch & sports merch off of DH Gate for a fraction of the price knowing it's fake than dealing with Fanatics. You have options
Thanks for clearing that up, Chris. Got me a little worried there when I first saw it, but if that's what's going to be aimed more at collector's or people who want that on-ice feel, then I'm a little less taken aback by the price tag.
Awesome vid, as always! And one thing: I noticed that in the Authentic Pro & Premium jerseys page the sizes listed INCLUDE 48! We have not seen size 48 in the NHL since 2006-07 (with the on-ice Reebok 6100 series), so that's great news for sizing options!
I'm pleasantly suprised to hear about the different tiered offering from Fanatics next year. Hopefully the on-ice equivelent version is worth the price. I'd consider myself cautiously optimistic as well
It sounds like they will ship direct from SP in Quebec, so the only skepticism warranted IMHO is regarding the Fanatics jersey redesign they're working on for the future. I suspect they will incorporate elements / panels that cater to jersey ads.
@@johnnyc.31 It doesn't say that at all. In fact I'm almost certain that they would've explicitly said that if it was the case. All it says is "the same material" etc.
I'm amazed someone who can afford a hockey jersey has so little life experience that this is a big markup to them 😂 don't go shopping for furniture, electronics, clothes or anything really. Don't forget too that's the wholesale price so it's probably double what it costs to make it and all the materials are probably marked up double as well.
My biggest concern is sizing. I’m a big and tall guy and the Adidas size 60 is too small. The sleeves go halfway up my arms. If they offer a goalie cut jersey then I’ll go all in on that.

Having a good quality product is one thing, but you have to actually get that product to customers in a reasonable amount of time. Fanatics is absolutely terrible at shipping product (and many times is cancelling orders because they overcommitted on preorders)

This is actually interesting to me in some capacity. I've always sort of wanted to own a MiC but since they had to be game-worn, even a Gerbe jersey would've been way too big for me to do anything with other than hang in my closet. So to see what would appear to be a jersey of the same quality is exciting, although I won't get my hopes up just yet.
i think my only other concern with fanatics themselves is the fact that so many mlb teams seem to be missing sets of jerseys. nhl teams are supposed to be all fanatics after july 1sts and i'm not holding my breath LOL
Thank you for this breakdown, Chris. I'll be waiting for a 30% off sale, but getting an on-ice jersey in the size 40's is so clutch. Interested to see if/how the templates change for 24-25, but hopefully we'll see them at the last in-person draft in June. Cheers.

Very well said, this definitely makes me a little more excited to see what Fanatics has in store. I am still a little skeptical of the quality of all these jersey types because I am an MLB fan as well and those jerseys have me scared. Hopefully they have learned from the mistakes with the MLB jerseys, and the new CEO will make quality a top priority.
I have a couple hundred hockey jerseys in my collection. Many are Fanatics jerseys. I've never had an issue with any of them and I don't feel the need to wear an "official" jersey to the game. It does or doesn't make me any more or less of a fan.
I have a Fanatics jersey too, and I agree that it’s not nearly as bad as people think. It almost feels a little bit more comfortable with everything heat pressed instead of sewn. I will say that I haven’t worn my Fanatics jersey much, or washed it ever, so maybe my opinion would be different if I had.
My curiosity though, is if any teams are looking at uniform changes for next season. Aside from the team on relocation watch, were there any teams whose jerseys said TBA, like it would have in previous years?
The one thing about Fanatics, is that their pro level apparel, shirts, hoodies, pants etc, which are available on the secondary market, are very good. The hoodies in particular are nice, so they are capable of making good product. But will they ever make that available to the public is the question.
No Chris you don't understand, it's fanatics so you have to blindly hate it without having any knowledge. At least that's what everyone is saying. We have to hate it BEFORE we see it. In reality I still am optimistic as are you. I think they'll have a good product.
😅 haha I get that. They’ve built up a certain reputation that’s going to take a lot of work to correct. Big mountain for them to climb. Let’s see how they do.
The last jersey I bought was $400 and it was a team issued and game worn NHL jersey of one of my favorite players. I am not going to pay $400 for one of these junk jerseys from Fanatics
I’m not a fanatics fan but I do believe since they messed up the MLB so hard they will have to absolutely make sure they don’t mess up the NHL to save their overall brand. At least I’m hoping for that reality
Fanatics didn’t mess up the mlb jerseys. Nike did. Most people blame fanatics because of their reputation but it was 100% Nike’s fault. That being said, I’m sure they will put more focus into the nhl jerseys regardless
@@ChiefsRaysBoltsyeah o agree but at the end of the day it has fanatics name on it and they should have done some tests prior to releasing the mlb stuff with Nikes specs. Could have avoided all this drama if fanatics was like “hey these specs look like ass and the pants are see through”
the issue bringing a team to Atlanta is are they gonna be able to sell in a market with the braves, the hawks and the falcons, thats a lot to compete with in the city
Looks like they’re stopping size XS Breakaway jersey which sucks for us smaller folks. They fit perfectly before and smalls were way too baggy so that’s so unfortunate to see.
I bought an authentic Adidas "Made in Canada" Canadiens jersey in 2021, the Habs online store got their hands on a limited batch of them, with sizes 52, 54 and 56 I think, and they sold them out in like 10 days. They were priced at $350CAD but you can customize it with any players name. As you will expect the quality of the jersey is top notch.
I'm hoping their premium level is equivalent to what Adidas currently offers in quality. Movers lost 6 of my jerseys and they'll be a hassle to replace since I mostly by second hand and on sales.
i think that this is amazing for the sport still have the cheaper (imo more comfortable) option but now the real deal collectors have a real opportunity to get the real deal
It sounds great, and I am sure it will be for the next few seasons, but in 4-5 seasons, much like the mlb, I'm afraid that they may begin to cut corners in quality. What I am trying to say is that I will believe it when I see it.
Really excited the MiC will be more readily available. I personally will pay the price for them. As owners of adidas MiC know, the quality is really incredible. Also wouldn't mind 36 teams, with 3 six team divisions in each conference.
Could you potentially do a video on the Mitchell and Ness vintage line? I've heard that they'll be re-releasing the Blue Line collection this fall with proper stitched and embroidered crests again after the total failure of their current NHL products.
I love Hockey Jerseys I think they are the best in all of sports and I have Jerseys from half of the league , I just want them to be good quality, fairly priced (or atleast on sale alot) and comfortable. I live in nyc when the change from reebok to addias happened the nhl store that used to be on 5th avenue had a massive sell off and I got most of my Jersey collection from that time, I really want a similar thing to happen when the new changeover starts.
Correct me but fanatics will have to make whole new designs right? They can’t just copy the adidas jerseys? I know this video says they will have to make their own designs for the first time but does that mean they will 100% have to change what’s already made by adidas? I say this because I’m a sharks fan and the evolve jerseys are so cool it would be a shame if they only lasted 2 seasons because fanatics would have to make their own design. Can anyone confirm if this is gonna happen? Or can fanatics basically keep the same adidas design but tweak it a little
It’s complex but Fanatics will probably develop their own template-just not for the reason you’re suggesting. Generally speaking, these jerseys and the designs are owned by the NHL and its clubs, not Adidas, so it’s not a question of ownership if that’s what you’re getting at. If a company pays you to make a product for them, you don’t then own their product, they do. (For the most part.) Fanatics is essentially keeping the Adizero template for the next year or two, maybe longer depending on whether they and the NHL feel there is a need to change.
While Nike is at fault for the design in the MLB, what worries me is Fanatics is late getting alternates to numerous teams this year (MIL, STL, TEX, more may be affected). Also happened to Philly the past 2 seasons. Inexcusable to not have a team’s complete uniform set ready in time… I’ll need to see the retail side play out for a couple of years before I even consider buying something, they are up there with Ticketmaster in companies I despise. With tax, their fees and shipping that’s probably north of $500 for a true authentic which is wild. Thanks for the coverage as always!
Thanks for watching! The delayed alternate jerseys in the MLB is an interesting angle to consider. I wonder if that has to do with Nike/Fanatics trying to fix the underlying issues with the materials? Something worth looking into for sure.
@@icethetics That’s what I would have attributed it to if it hasn’t happened the past 2 seasons as well. Of course, who knows what the case will be once they are in charge of every aspect of the operation, so I’ll give them a chance!
Valid concern, but this is why alternate jerseys always go away every time there's a new NHL supplier. MLB teams, on the other hand, have as many as five different uniforms.
Its only a matter of time until the league has 40 teams. Atlanta , Houston, Quebec city , Arizona (if they move) , Kansas city and Toronto 2 will have a team.
Boycotting this horrible company for the rest of my life. Plenty of good jerseys out there for me to collect (Talking about F*natics not Icethetics - you guys do awesome work)
I do like the option of getting an MIC jersey, even if the price point is high. It won't be my go to jersey but will I buy a Capitals 50th anniversary MIC next year? Probably.
The biggest thing Fanatics needs to get right is the on-ice quality of the uniforms. If the same thing happens in the NHL like the new MLB jerseys, all hell will break loose! Hockey players are very particular with their jerseys, so any defect will set Fanatics further down the hole than ever.
Yeah they messed up hard with the MLB I highly highly highly doubt they will let that happen again with the NHL. They will definitely try and come out strong here I hope in order to save their image after the MLB issues
If there's a last-moment move, they might just stay with the existing uniform set for 24-25. The home and away jerseys have the Kachina on the front and "Moon/Coyotes" patch on the shoulder. They'd simply have to avoid using the red alternate "Arizona" jersey.
@@sitboaf maybe. the nhl did promise the coyotes owner that they get another franchise if he IA able to get a team, so we don't know if that will be a factor too
@@dmoran1093 yeah, i heard that, too. The Utah team definitely moves away from "Coyotes" ASAP. It's just that ASAP may not be possible, production-wise, for another year.
Yeah, I think they’ll make it work if it becomes necessary. An expedited timeline would have to be worked out. Reebok did it for the Jets in 2011. The difference, of course, would be that we haven’t seen a sudden relocation in the same year as a jersey supplier change. Vegas launched along with Adidas in 2017, but there was a normal timeline leading up.
As a pro jersey collector for the past 30 years, this is awesome news. I was extremely disappointed with Adidas and their made in Indonesia "authentic pro" jerseys that they came out with a few years ago. Glad they got sued for passing off replica jerseys as the real ones that players wore. I never did buy one. I will definitely buy a real one from Fanatics for $425US. Seems steep, but it's better than paying over $1000US for a game worn jersey from Meigray.
exactly the same as on ice would be an issue for me. i will never buy a jersey with an ad on it period but especially not for $425. If the ads arent on there then honestly its just another option so no harm really as long as fanatics has uncharacteristically good qa.
Good question here. The ads are put on by the teams (sold at the team level). My understanding is you'd be buying direct from the factory version with Authentic Pro, which is to say before the ad gets sewn on. You’d probably only get the ad if you bought game used.
I’m too poor to be a collector (only 3 hockey jerseys) but I have yet to get a primary Canucks jersey. I would pay $400 for my first (non RR) Canucks jersey

That's cool they're selling the actual authentic jerseys in Canada and you can buy the practice Jerseys
The one thing about Fanatics, is that their pro level apparel, shirts, hoodies, pants etc, which are available on the secondary market, are very good. The hoodies in particular are nice, so they are capable of making good product. But will they ever make that available to the public is the question.
This is kinda what I'm saying too. You just said it in a slightly superior manner!
Amazing video as always. My signed Fanatics jersey can be worth something now.
Could have avoided all this drama if fanatics was like “hey these specs look like ass and the pants are see through”
When will the Anaheim Ducks finally go full retro and get rid of those horrendous jerseys??
Sad how quick the Yotes announcement is, and SLC will be a tough challenge as far as redesigning the jerseys lol
the issue bringing a team to Atlanta is are they gonna be able to sell in a market with the braves, the hawks and the falcons, thats a lot to compete with in the city
Looks like they’re stopping size XS Breakaway jersey which sucks for us smaller folks. They fit perfectly before and smalls were way too baggy so that’s so unfortunate to see.
DH Gate
God, I hope they fix those disastrous collars
I bought an authentic Adidas "Made in Canada" Canadiens jersey in 2021, the Habs online store got their hands on a limited batch of them, with sizes 52, 54 and 56 I think, and they sold them out in like 10 days. They were priced at $350CAD but you can customize it with any players name. As you will expect the quality of the jersey is top notch.
I’m seriously hoping the Houston Aeros come back. Could you do a video on possible team names for the cities you mentioned?
I'm hoping their premium level is equivalent to what Adidas currently offers in quality. Movers lost 6 of my jerseys and they'll be a hassle to replace since I mostly by second hand and on sales.
Clears up a good amount of things about fanatics
i think that this is amazing for the sport still have the cheaper (imo more comfortable) option but now the real deal collectors have a real opportunity to get the real deal
I will be buying the MiC. But No more Dimples. :(
Correct me but fanatics will have to make whole new designs right?
If the on ice jerseys is anything like MLB were so boned
It probably won't be has bad but still fuck fanatics regardless
While Nike is at fault for the design in the MLB, what worries me is Fanatics is late getting alternates to numerous teams this year (MIL, STL, TEX, more may be affected). Also happened to Philly the past 2 seasons. Inexcusable to not have a team’s complete uniform set ready in time…
I’ll need to see the retail side play out for a couple of years before I even consider buying something, they are up there with Ticketmaster in companies I despise.
MLB teams, on the other hand, have as many as five different uniforms.
that authentic price is utterly obscene. unjustifiable.
Its only a matter of time until the league has 40 teams. Atlanta , Houston, Quebec city , Arizona (if they move) , Kansas city and Toronto 2 will have a team.
😳
gonna miss the shoulder dimples
New franchises = New fans = League growth. We want as many teams as we can get for hockeys sake.
Where did u get the catalog from
Boycotting this horrible company for the rest of my life. Plenty of good jerseys out there for me to collect
(Talking about F*natics not Icethetics - you guys do awesome work)
😅 i appreciate that
Pro stiched Jerseys at the arena were 0ver 300 this season
I have two of the Fanatics breakaway jerseys. They're pretty nice in experience. 🤷♂️
Very well done 👍🏻
Thank You for your content/videos. I have always wanted an on ice Blackhawks as being a huge fan. I like this idea.
Thanks for watching!
The more evidence showing NIKE screwed up the MLB jerseys, the more optimistic I am that Fanatics won't screw it up.
If the coyotes relocate thats gonna be alot of pressure for fanatics to come up with something new.
Fanatics would be smart to only put fight straps on the on-ice authentic tiers of their jerseys
Are you high? Quality and Fanatics don't go together. Their products are trash
I’m too poor to be a collector (only 3 hockey jerseys) but I have yet to get a primary Canucks jersey. I would pay $400 for my first (non RR) Canucks jersey
Realsports, the Leafs' retail store, offered blank MiC adidas jerseys for $300 Canadian.
Oh awesome! All I know is they were not widely available or sold by Adidas.
Not buying a single jersey with a Fanatics logo on it. Snapped up an Adidas authentic & now I'm set until 2034 😎
Thankfully the Made in Canada jerseys will be made available, finally.
