    Hi, I want to save a piece I'm playing using styles, either as a song or MIDI. I'd like to be able to edit the 16 tracks of my recorded song before sampling, for instance quantizing, changing tones, volume, etc. How can I record the song to the instrument's memory to be able to still edit it? I'm not interested in recording in audio rec mode. Is there a way to do this? I had a Yamaha Tyros 4 and there was a function for recording as a SONG. Can you help me with this? Greetings - Piotr

    Page 895 of the manual discusses importing MIDI files in the style editor, but it doesn't walk through all the steps. I find that I get as far as pointing to a MIDI file and then there's no guidance what to do next to cause it to load. The chapter suggests it's possible, but I can't get a MIDI to load in the style editor, because it doesn't explain what to do next after selecting the MIDI from the list.

    For a keyboard made by a Japanese company, I am shocked that Japan is totally unrepresented in the Styles section, even under "World" category.
    Are there Japanese styles available? Or only on Japanese domestic keyboards?

    • @quirobinez
      @quirobinez  9 месяцев назад +1

      when using backing tracks it's better to just load the MP3 in song mode, you can mute the voice with the voice removal feature on the pa5x, you can assign this feature to one of the three assignable switches (that way you can activate it whenever you like)

    Hello, i have a question.
    Can i record a new song with already existing style (factory style), and then save it as a midi? If yes, can you please explain me how. Best of all, your videos really make it easier.
    Edit: Maybe the simpler question is, how to import existing style (factory style), in a new song, so that i can tweek it later.

    • @quirobinez
      @quirobinez  7 месяцев назад

      that is not possible on the pa5x yet, it doesn't support quick record yet. You can record the complete style and your playing directly in a daw on your computer, then you can dissolve the recording and everything is on it;s own track.

    So, this is great feature like cue point on djay player.
    Can you remap the GM sound for the midifile because all GM banks sounds....special, it will be better to remap with the internal sound of the PA5, if the mapping is possible or if you can create a GM Mapping of the internal sounds for filtering Midifiles???
    Thanks again for your great work!!!

    • @quirobinez
      @quirobinez  Год назад +1

      yes, it's the same as cue points on dj players. The voice remapping is really easy to do, just select the new sound and save the song again, then it's changed in the midi file. No need to modify program changes in the midi file.

      @@quirobineziz it posible to edit the songs and change chords

    • @quirobinez
      @quirobinez  Год назад +1

      @@fiinstrumental you can enter the mode song edit, but i doubt that that is enough for you. It is possible to change and rerecord midi parts of the song. If your goal is sequencing on a keyboard, then the pa5x is not for you at the moment, i would stay on the pa4x. It is possible, but for instance replacing a specific section is really hard to do in a long song (for instance bar 16 till 32 with new chords on a track, it can be done, but it's so difficult to do that I always use my DAW computer for that and then import the midi again, that works a lot better).

  • @lordbachus

    Actually the markers themselves have been in the major keyboards (genos has 6). For quite some time, but never in a usable fashion like this. They are only a small step away from creating a midi player like abletons live…. Very usable for dance music too, if you combine it with some samples and more

    • @quirobinez
      @quirobinez  Год назад +1

      you are right, the marker system can be found in multiple arrangers, the pa4x has it, the genos has 4 markers, but none of them has the automatic mapping to hardware buttons and that really makes a big difference when using it.

    • @lordbachus
      @lordbachus Год назад

      @@quirobinez i think on the genos you can also use the performance memories to archieve this, never tried it tough, nice challenge for me 😎

    First I'd like to say, "THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!"
    Second, last night, I was editing a synth sound, and saved it to a user sound slot, then I brought the sound into a key set, but the edits I made are not there. I go back to the edited sound, and the edits are there! HELP! lol
    Thank you.

    • @quirobinez
      @quirobinez  Год назад +1

      if you open an existing keyset then you can load new sounds in it, but it will always use the existing effects of that keyboard set so that the mix you are working with stays the same. In your case you want a new keyset based on your user sound. So open an existing keyset, then click the menu button on the top right of your screen, select use IFX and Use MFX, then load your own user sound. Then it copies the exact effect setup of your user sound to that keyset. Then it should sound the same.

    • @moogy77
      @moogy77 Год назад

      @@quirobinez Thank you, that helps, but I might not have explained it correctly.
      I was editing a synth tone. Changing the pitch bend, and adding more depth to an LFO. I saved the edited version to a user sound slot. Then I check to make sure my edits have been saved, and yes, they'er there. But when I go to the keyboard set I want it in, and go to the user sound, and bring it in to that set, the edits aren't there!?

  • @sonegmusic
    @sonegmusic Год назад

    You cant play it like a style witch different chords , ist stil a midi file with markers , its possible on Genos also

    • @quirobinez
      @quirobinez  Год назад

      well, yes but that's also the case with a specific song style which was created for one song, the only difference then is that you can proof that you can play the correct chord on time, that's something i find totally uninteresting and if that is really important for someone they can even proof it that you can with midi files by using the lower function and add a string for instance to that so that you can play the chord in time and this way you show that you know which chord should be played at what position, but again, for me i don't really care about this.
      On the genos you can't do it like on the pa5x, i have a genos too. On the genos you can setup till 4 markers and that's it. As far as i know you can't activate those sections with buttons on the genos, you have to manually select them in song mode on the touch screen. On the pa5x up till 15 segments are automatically mapped to the hardware buttons and you can change between normal operation and looped operation by double clicking them. So because you can set up your midi file parts like breaks, fills, variations, bridges, verse, which all can be selected with the hardware buttons during play, this is what makes the big difference for me. The marker system isn't unique, the genos has that in a limited way, the pa4x has it more or less the same as on the pa5x, but with no button mapping. So i keep saying it, i think it's a great feature of the pa5x that they made the decision to map 15! hardware buttons to your own defined segments in a midi file, i've never seen a keyboard that can do it the same way as the pa5x can do.
