As a 1.88m and 86kg runner the Puma deviate nitro 2 is soft, bouncy and a little bit wobbly at slower pace. At faster speed and intervals the shoe is coming to life and gives a more stable landing and effortless propulsion. I'm really liking it after 4 runs

Puma "evolution" with their nitro lineups really in the right direction!
Even better than the current ASICS (d)evolution; I'm a long term ASICS fan FWIW.
As a wide footed runner, before this I was never able to use Puma shoes as it was narrow.
Currently I enjoyed deviate nitro 2 so much. It's fast, grippy, and surprisingly versatile for plated shoes! Fast enough for the race day, specifically when the weather and terrain is not ideal. Although I have to skip the first eye lace due to my wide foot.
I hope to try another lineup in the future and hope they come out with wide cutting.
Additionally as always, thanks for mentioning a very valid observation on the strange medial arc support on Adidas shoes.
I have to avoid Adidas because of this. I realised it started that strange on Adiós 5. But I heard the Adiós 8 is not as pronounced, I'm yet to try, can you help to confirm that?

I have the lineup but I do have to pick and choose them for specific uses..the magnify is way too hot for anything except serious winter use..it's my snow shoe..the velocity is a good short intervals dirt track sprinter..the nitro elite is a good 5-10k buffed out trail..not enough cushioning for serious racing on pavement..the fastR is the best fitting shoe I own..the cushioning is just enough for 5k..only the Mizuno Pro is all out 5k faster, but nowhere as stable nor fits as well..puma is definitely bringing their A game and I especially like the comfort levels in the uppers..

Please don't get me wrong. I believe Puma did a very good job with the Deviate Nitro Elite (tested by me at the running track). In theory, the Fast-R should be the top super-shoes and, despite that, they did use EVA foam in the posterior part of the midsole. Well, considering the energy return and durability of this type of foam, this is very disappointing, considering the price.

@@EDDBUD They used EVA foam on purpose, because they claim you have more stability on the heel strike phase.
Regarding the Nitro infused foam, after been using the Deviate Nitro Elite for 200km, I can tell you that for the top super-shoes it wouldn't be right. I would make the heel glueing the PEBA foam (like in the Saucony Pro 1/2/3), or with a double layer (one softer, one firmer), like in the On Cloudboom Echo 3. My 2 pennies. 😉

How do you feel about the Magnify Nitro 1?

    • @EDDBUD

Felt a little too rigid in the outsole for me. Didn’t allow the midsole to flex too much

My experience with the velocity first version was horrible. No reactive, designed for wide feet and after 300 kms they turns unstable.

Velocity nitro? Really? Sounds like you need something really firm

Sucks if you're a size 12.5 like me - 12's too small, 13's too large

The puma fast fwd nitro elite is not a good shoe if you're a forefoot or a toe striker.👎🗑

Found it fine for pace. Though I think most gravitate to midfoot when running quick.
