I bought a matte-finished full-body 15mm tile for my dining table top, and I intend to use double molding with an edge. Will molding a matte tile require as much labor as gloss finish tiles?

Moulding a matte-finished tile typically requires slightly more effort compared to glossy tiles.
Matte tiles often have a rougher surface compared to glossy tiles, which can make the cutting and polishing process during moulding a bit more challenging. While glossy tiles are already smooth and reflective, matte tiles may need additional polishing along the moulded edges to achieve a uniform finish, depending on the desired look.If the tiles are dense (e.g., porcelain or full-body tiles), the material can be harder to cut and shape, regardless of whether the finish is matte or glossy.
However, the difference in effort and cost is usually minimal if you are working with skilled professionals. Double moulding with an edge is a great choice for a dining table as it adds elegance and durability. Ensure that the edges are sealed properly to prevent chipping or moisture ingress, especially since dining tables are prone to spills.

@Inspirestudio19 Thank you for your detailed response. Since I am choosing a matte finish tile, should the edge of the molding also have a matte finish? It seems important to ensure that both the top and the edges have the same finish, right? I thought that creating a matte finish for the edge molding would be easier than achieving a gloss finish.

Using a motor chisel (power tool) on full-body tiles can potentially cause chipping, cracking, or scratching if not done carefully. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
      1. Chipping: While full-body tiles are more durable and resistant to surface damage, improper use of power tools can still cause chipping, especially at the edges.
      2. Cracking: If the tiles aren’t installed properly with a strong adhesive or if excess pressure is applied unevenly during chiseling, they may crack.
      3. Scratches: Full-body tiles are scratch-resistant but not completely scratch-proof. If the motor chisel slips or uses too much force, it can leave scratches on the surface.
To avoid damage, it’s essential to use the correct technique, proper tools, and skilled labor when working with power tools on tiles. Using a manual chisel might be safer for smaller adjustments or detailed work.
