That M-6 couldn't have found a better home. Looking forward to the first start video. Please don't keep us waiting too long. Got to get the harvest in!
Love the history lesson along with the walk around on the Mercury truck. As an American I had no idea that’s how it worked. Love the videos guys, keep ‘em coming.
Thank you guys for another interesting and entertaining visit to Strong's Garage. Congratulations Jim! I can't wait to see this '51 cleaned up and earning her keep again!
I remember my first day of training as a tire repair guy in the late 1970's. The guy training me pointed to a split rim truck tire, then pointed out several crescent shaped indentations in the shop ceiling, then pointed to a tire cage and said "always use this"... Never had one go off on me, but I also always used the cage...
That's gonna be nice when it's up and running and I don't get the feeling it'll take too much work before it fires off. Looks basically solid. Love it!
Great to see another Mercury survivor. 51 was the first year for the new designation. Prior to that it would have been an M155 which referred to the GVW rating of 15,500 pounds. I've got a 49 model M68 waiting to get unstuck and running one of these days.
Love your seasonal decor! And what a beauty of a truck. There's something about the squeak and clank of a heavy old truck door that makes me think of my Dad coming home from work every day. ❤️
The 48 and 49 Mercury trucks had different grills, chrome front fender strips, a 4 bar Mercury grill and blinkers mounted on the front fenders. The front fenders had a raised area for the blinker
My darlings, good to see two 1952 trucks. They look like farming trucks. Good work horses for the time. You yourselves look like farmers also. I love the gear shifts and brake pedals. What a fine. Halloween decorations are great at the shop. Well my dears take care and stay safe.🙏🎈👍🌞🕊😇🍺🌹🇺🇸❤️🌈
Great video guys! While this may be a wee outside the scope(genre) of the show, many fans would love to see a small tour of Jim's other Mercury trucks/ farm trucks.
Just watched Mortske repair go over a 1951 ford 'F4 grain hauler last week. the workhorse of post war America. Nice to see the Canadian model 1951 Merc.
Thanks, indeed, for the History lesson on Canadian cars & trucks. Here in the states, we would have never known. Even coming from Massachusetts, while we did have a few LaSalles we had no Meteors or Mercury trucks. Will we have a Level 1 Tidy on the Merc truck and a 'Will it run & drive' coming??
HUGE fan of the Merc trucks from '48 to '50 (LOVE the crossbar grill!). So seeing this bad-boy grain truck was a HUGE treat. Very nice shape, ready for duty! Canada truly made out like kings getting a re-badged Ford F1-6 with Merc jewelry. Black fenders are a HUGE bonus. Just a very cool view of a trucking stalwart!
I appreciate the history behind the equipment as that can get lost so easily. What a great find that is. I am not a Ford man, but I like the grill on that year's trucks.
What a terrific old truck, and it has found a good home. It will be fun to see when you guys bring the paint back to life. You guys might even have period correct car polish. If Scott swings by, maybe you can ask him to do a "My Classic Tire" segment, especially on that spare tire.
Hey Boys,,, I'm a new subscriber after seeing you featured on the Curiosity Incorporated channel! I'm going to binge watch all your old videos and look forward to watching your new content. 👍🐸👍
There's an great book by R. Perry Zavitz called Monarch Meteor about the Canadian cars and trucks if you want to learn about them. It's still printed by Old Auto's Publications if you want a copy
Hey Jim, firstly top video guys! 1. What happened to the Red truck that used to be in your workshop, parked adjacent the Continental please? Also keep the Continental videos coming...I have been avidly watching every step of the process...love to see more of your great efforts. Regards Des
Great old truck definitely a great find, being in Australia we didn't get many Mercury, but we did get Ford, thanks for the information always a pleasure hearing about the old rigs etc tool's, it's great, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Dear Strong's Garage guys. 👍👌👏 Simply fantastic! Congrats for the great barn find. I really hope, that the roof will dent out easy. I guess respectively hope, that because of the split rear axle gearbox/transmission thingi, this farm truck is able to do enough speed to not hinder in nowadays traffic. Usually those old farm trucks are pretty slow.... strong geared but therefore slow. It looks as if the paint will come back well. I'm eagerly looking forward to watch the cleaning and buffing process. Of course for the first start too! Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health to all of you. Post Scriptum: Nice Halloween decoration in the wonderful, period correct looking shop. Unfortunately Matt switched back to a modern, not period correct base cap, sigh. The other one looked sooo cool respectively so much better. But maybe it was simply too big/warm?
I'm Canadian, Ontario farm boy. I just acquired a 62 Mercury F700 grain truck, originally from SK I'm told. Scissor hoist, factory steel grain racks. Nice shape...if it was an Ontario truck it would have been rusted out by 72 lol. Those tires and rims will likely last a long time if you're just hauling from field to bin on farm up the sideroads. Not likely the DOT would pass them though!
Really surprised the grain truck had that many miles on it but I guess the distance to the grain shipping points is farther than the typical American grain elevator. It used to be common to see 20-30 year old grain trucks for sale in the midwest with less than 40K on the odometer.
What a beaut. The modified armrest is pretty good work. We'll take the bird poo jokes with a grain of...The sheet steel is a great touch on the farmer's part too as the smaller grains won't sift out,nor stick.Never asked what you grow Jim.Canada Red Eye?
Hey Gang, Let us know what you Think of this Neat Piece Of Canadian History!
Love it! It's a real beauty. Thanks for taking us to Jim's. Strong's Garage outside broadcast div.
They are the Firestone RH5° those are the widow makers. They should under no circumstances be reused. They failed even when new...
That M-6 couldn't have found a better home. Looking forward to the first start video. Please don't keep us waiting too long. Got to get the harvest in!
Great Find GUYS !!! ENJOY !!
I don't know where you find them Jim, but I'm glad they found you!
That is one sweet 1951 Mercury. In the USA we never had a Mercury truck, so this is really awesome.
Love the history lesson along with the walk around on the Mercury truck. As an American I had no idea that’s how it worked. Love the videos guys, keep ‘em coming.
Great find!
The Curiosity Inc shelving looks awsome in your showroom!!
Nice truck you found, hope it treats you well.
You really found a gem there, Jim. I love the look of that old truck. Maybe you could do a clean-up video on it, that would be neat to see.
Thanks

Another magnificent survivor! It will look right at home on the backroads of rural Alberta!
You gotta show the start up of that beautiful old girl!! THANKS GUYS!!!
One of the best body styles ever produced and the flathead engine was a great power plant.
Excellent night to hop on the ol' internet. First a new Strong's Garage vid, and then a CWM one right after!
Nice truck. I hope you show some of the servicing to put it back on the road.
Good video!
That looks like it's in great shape to be that old ( I can say the same for myself........mostly 🤨) and having two 1951 trucks is pretty cool.
Beautiful truck Jim..can't wait to see it after you guys apply your magic.....
Beautiful truck with great original things.
That's gonna be nice when it's up and running and I don't get the feeling it'll take too much work before it fires off. Looks basically solid. Love it!
Jim is the Barn Find. Such passion. " The beak " 😆 🤣 😂 Gold!!!!!
Shop looks great what a nice family y’all have. Great truck Jim sound like you got some bad ass roosters too. Look forward to the will it run.

You guys an Scott rule Good on you boys for what you do.
Great find guys, I can’t wait to see the videos on the truck restoration. pS you really do need a portable microphone for doing outside shots 👍
Thanks boys
Lovely truck well done Jim. Hopefully we'll see further updates on it in the future
The 48 and 49 Mercury trucks had different grills, chrome front fender strips, a 4 bar Mercury grill and blinkers mounted on the front fenders. The front fenders had a raised area for the blinker
Keep up the good work
Awesome 🚛
Impressed you keep finding these untouched cars/trucks! I hope you make a video, when you get it going.
Very cool! Can’t wait to see it run.
Well done on another fantastic original unmolested truck guys! Will we get to see it being cleaned up?
My darlings, good to see two 1952 trucks. They look like farming trucks. Good work horses for the time. You yourselves look like farmers also. I love the gear shifts and brake pedals. What a fine. Halloween decorations are great at the shop. Well my dears take care and stay safe.🙏🎈👍🌞🕊😇🍺🌹🇺🇸❤️🌈
My profile pic will affirm my approval of this video...! Nothing beats a good widowmaker now and then:)
What a great looking truck. I’m sure it will be much happier with you than being ignored in a barn.
That grain truck is a real treat. Would be interesting to see it serviced after all these years.
Now I have an Alan Jackson song stuck in my head. "Gunna buy me a Mercury and drive it up and down the road." 😊
Always cool to see a truck born in the same year as myself. Hope to see it cleaned up and running.
Hi Jim nice find !!! I hope you will film a will it start video !!!!
Real nice addition to the farm
Keep the videos coming as you guys are so knowledgeable and I like the lessons with the videos. The wife and kids did a nice job on the decorations.
Wow, what a great find! thanks for sharing and providing a nice little overview of the Mercury history in Canada!
Very nice old mercury truck barn find👍 you guys always have interesting stuff. Cheers guys
Well, I'll be hosed! Those two Mercury trucks are the same year model as me, but they are in better shape!
Great truck ! I’m so glad u fellas keep this stuff alive
Wow bringing back memories ,saw Mercury and Fargo trucks in Vietnam.
A 2 speed axle is not an overdrive, it is a splitter. Use it to split each gear into high and low. Beautiful truck.
True. The switch looks the same as the one I have in the 71 International with the two speed Eaton axle. Parts for those are getting hard to find.
Me and Jim would get along just fine. I have a 51 F1 and a 52 F3 that I'm currently building. Great stuff guys!
Can’t wait to see more on this truck!
Always worth the time! Thanks for the walk through and history lesson!
Great video! Another great Mercury truck!

Won't you look at that! I mean, just look at it! I bet them trucks are happy to have a friend.

Ding ding YEAH!
Nice bookends. :)
Another entertaining video
That a sweet old girl and look in very good shape. It's nice it will live on as a farm truck.
Jim, you have some mighty fine iron on your farm. Hope the old Merc fires up soon!
I think they had mercury trucks in the US for a few years.
