great video, I find it sad how much apathy/disdain I find for Ruby whenever I try to find anything about her in the fandom, It's nice to know I'm not the only one that still likes her character ^^
Yeah, this fandom can be awfully exhausting trying to find the right circles, but she is a strong character just trying to do her best in a world gone mad. I'm glad I can put some RWBY positivity out in the world :D
It's not only for Ruby, it's for the whole show. People can't stop complaining about how "bad" it got after season 3. Yes, sadly Monty isn't here anymore, but if you don't like the show stop watching. Is the easiest solution. :D I also have a lot of points I'd do different, but I can still enjoy RWBY without feeling the need to complain the whole time. It's frustrating to see how the attitude changed over the years. In the beginning the support was exceptional and nowadays (maybe cause it's too popular) most people are haters. And I like Ruby too! She's not my favorite character but let's be honest - I can't imagine the show without her.
This was fantastic!! Every Single Shot somehow had a creative and appropriate effect to go with it -- your scene selection blows me away every time! I know finding all of those shots probably took ages, so well done. The parallels between Blake and Ruby in the middle was a great touch as well :D Awesome job, can't wait to see what you do next!
I am inclined to agree with ThusKindlySheScatters! This was incredible! From start to finish there were so many interesting transitions that I had never seen and connections I never drew. This song is rather rare in AMV's these days but I always loved it and you tied in every lyric perfectly to the song. It's also incredibly uncommon to see an AMV about Ruby in a serious manner, but it worked excellently. Your transition to the villains being unable to "drop the act", with that shadowy layering effect until it came to Cinder was a thing of beauty. Following that is a great vignette of action until it reaches discussion about answers and uncertainty, which is expressed through Ruby learning everything from the Lamp and her announcement to Remnant. Then I was very impressed with the "You and I share the same disease!" part with some mirrored actions between Blake and Ruby that I had never drawn before. The line of "pointing my finger"... reflecting that towards Ironwood's decision which also marks well with V3's opening of "Their iron gloves point fingers, they'll wage a war of blame. And mankind will wilt in pain." Ruby did literally "hold the trigger" for a while in regards to the all of the knowledge from Jinn, what happened to Oz, and finally she held the fate of Atlas in her hands and chose against the land for the hopes of saving a dear friend and thought her evacuation plot was better suited to survival than to stand and fight Salem, in the end. Which entirely is shown well with "I live like a liar", interestingly reflecting Ruby's face in a drink. We saw this very same shot twice before in the series. The first time when Oz is lying about the "curse" the gods put on him for failing to stop Salem in the past. The second time when Salem talks about becoming gods of the new world with Ozma, and the third time here, where Ruby remarks to no one in particular how the situation deteriorated so quickly. The last thirty seconds is an incredible mix of image layering and a swift resolution to V8's events. I must also note how well the theme of "Make a Move" fits V8. Ironwood proceeded without any hesitance because in his mind any second-guessing was weakness and admittance to his fear. Whereas Ruby and Yang started out with divided ideas, which actually ended with Ruby's proactive measures being taken advantage of by Watts who unknowingly orchestrated the tragedy of the volume, Ruby was eventually forced to wait for the party to regroup because of Nora and later Penny, then was forced to confront The Hound which shook her to the core. In the end it is Ruby trying to choose the "easy option" of trying to ensure "everyone wins" which doomed her dearest friend and that of the lands of Atlas and Mantle.

It's great that you mentioned how this song matches V8, because one of my initial ideas was to make it v8 centric. I once had team JYR for the 'some of you never learned to drop the act' part, but once I knew I wanted Cinder for that next part, it changed into a villains segment. The Blake and Ruby parallels were inspired by some meta I read about their talk in "Dark"; how they have parallel character arcs, how Blake saw so much of her younger, more optimistic self in Ruby, and how they both came to conclusion of knowing firsthand how much the world sucks, but fighting for it anyway. Nail on the head with the 'I hold the trigger' analysis. I was thinking about that Ozpin-cup-reflection scene with Ruby's reflection too - the introspection and fear of hiding truths, doing what might be best, but will it be good enough? The finale - the hound reveal, all the way to the end - is my favorite part, personally! (V9 speculation - Ruby's own mental state will convince her that the fall and loss of Penny was her own fault, since she had put so much pressure on herself this volume to be the one to fix everything. In reality, the plan would have worked if Cinder hadn't used that last question!)

You have every right to be proud of that final part, from the slick cut of Ambrosius creating the Central Location to taking a scene from Ruby v. Neo and transposing it to the team fighting Cinder seamlessly was inspired. I agree with your speculation for V9. For a very long time Ruby coasted by on her natural talent, her tactical cleverness and being in the right place at the right time, along with a dash of luck (Haven), but this is the first time that she failed in such a catastrophic fashion. She tried to play the role of hero along with her party but in reality those clever plans she made worked against her at every step, unknowingly and tragically. I am intrigued to know how this will effect her, especially when she learns about Penny's death.
