Yes we all have different tastes. Though fyi, the red seconds hand represents the red tinge of the morning sun against the deep blue sky as it rises over the Shizukuishi Watch Studio. Also, the number 60 is significant in Japanese culture, as when a person turns 60 they celebrate a Kanreki, or a rebirth in which the celebrant traditionally wears red. It’s a moment that honors and reflects on the past, but one that also looks forward to the future. With 2020 marking their 60th anniversary, Grand Seiko also celebrates its Kanreki.
Seeing this watch for the first time turned me into me a GS fanboy.
nice @1:25
GS seems to deliver both an oversized dress watch and a lacking sports watch in one. New movement aside, this leaves a lot to be desired still.
I love mine on a light tan/ walnut strap it looks amazing it does. At the right light it’s amazing forget Tim little wrist, in person is the only way.
Lol, It's a dressy sports watch like a PP Nautilus or AP Royal Oak. It's not trying to be a dive and dress watch in one.
@@melbguy1 no.
In what way is this oversized? 40mm, 47mm lug to lug, less that 12mm in thickness. In no world is that oversized.
And what's with this primal need to classify a watch as dress OR sport in the watch world? There are bucket loads of watches that walk the tightrope of being dressy and sporty in their design. What's your problem with this one? It clearly doesn't have to the do with where it stands on the dress/sport spectrum.
@@rousseau327 lol it’s not that deep. I owned a 44GS case and I didn’t like the way it wore/dimensions. Have you owned or tried one on, or are you going just by the specs on paper?
Either way, I don’t really care about anyone’s classifications or what they like - just my opinion. Enjoy your watches.
A GS that looks decent (finally).... Wish it was 39mm
Means you will still not stop crying. A 3 hand simple rolex is best for people like you
@@syedmohdfasihnaqvi155 THIS!
Jesus christ, that 1mm will not make much of the difference when you consider the proportions of the rest of the watch
that movement could compete with patek.
Haha. Rolex - serviced by robots!
I’m still happy with my SARB021 at 10 cents to the dollar. Zaratsu-polished though poorer everywhere else. As I would be if I bought the GS.
Not to burst your bubble but the sarb021 isn't zaratsu polished that being said its a great watch
@@Abbas-bx6wi Thanks for the clarification. I think this is a bit of information that got onto a few websites, including the one I bought my SARB021 from. But you’re correct that the original price of the 021 (about $450) couldn’t have covered this kind of hand finishing.
@@LesterLovesWatches no worries its a brilliant watch I owned one a few years back and was astounded its a shame they've discontinued it and are ramping up the prices to nearer the $1000 mark for 6r15 mvmt watches
Sarb is boss hopefully they do a 25th anniversary model
I never miss a video review of a Grand Seiko hoping that one day I’ll see something that’s actually interesting...........
Still waiting
You must have a deep wallet then. I could have bought a 2020 Rolex Sub Date, but chose this watch instead. Imho it should be more compared to a AP Royal Oak, and is better finished that the AP imho
Bodhi Sattva each to his own mate, the quality might be top notch but the design is sooooo dull, unimaginative and similar to every other Seiko I’ve seen since the 1970’s. Enjoy it mate and keep it long term.....I’d take so many other brands over this in a heartbeat...Bovet, JLC, Girard Perregaux.....the list goes on.
@@dougm659 Well obviously you haven't spent more than 5 minutes looking at stock photos of this watch on the internet, let alone seen one in the metal. I'm into watches and can tell you that at
Bodhi Sattva well obviously you are someone who readily makes assumptions about what other people think, know or have experienced and assumptions based on zero information are dangerous. I don’t give a solitary shit what WatchPro or any other “authority” on watches has to say about any watch, I make up my own mind based on my own experience and knowledge; I’ve been doing this a long time and I am not part of the Rolex or Omega or AP or any brand’s fanboy brigade. As I said, enjoy your Seiko, it’s not something I would spend any money on never mind several thousands...
@@dougm659 Don‘t be an idiot Doug! What did you expect, slashing out this kind of opinion/comment. You have your opinion, others have theirs.
👍!
Snowflake with this case and movement please!
Haha I think you mean this watch with the snowflake dial. You can’t take the spring drive out of a snowflake that’s blasphemy.
And get rid of the ugly power reserve on an automatic watch
The SLGH005 just released! Pretty much exactly what you're asking for
Not sure about the white birch dial. Will have to see you it person
@@AL-sf3qy As is with any watch, but I don't think GS will disappoint with the dial. It's fairly similar to the Snowflake texture, if not a bit more pronounced.
Holy shit Tim, Are you freaking wearing a mask?
One too many colours. Blue yellow and red?
This is the problem with GS design language, its a mis mash of sporty and dressy. A dress dial with a sports colour scheme.
Nope 👎🏽 I’ll pass
@Ryder E Rolex & A. Lange & Sohne
Sorry I can’t justify the money on a Japanese watch .. But if you like it buy it and enjoy it .Don’t listen to anyone comments on line
10 grands for Seiko ? Never
It's Grand Seiko. And thank you. Another person who actually appreciates the big leap forward for Grand Seiko that this watch represents will have an easier time finding one of the 1000 pieces.
Meh...
80 hr on a high beat and meh...cmon
@@j.c.3598 You're right. That is not an easy feat, nor is inventing an entirely new dual impulse escapement, then producing the entire watch in-house (incl: the main springs and overcoil)
Meh, I got two weeks with mine NO meh. You guys need to get it on the wrist fir a few days.
1:08 Uneven Gap between the links of the bracelet makes it look like a cheap Chinese strap
The gaps are actually pretty even. I dont have this exact model but I have the same bracelet. I think it’s due to the camera angle why the gaps appear to be slightly uneven
It's the angle, and Tim is pulling the bracelet from below. That's why it looks like that.
You guys can catch it again at 1:44 and 1:52
@@AceSpaceSpades It's engineered like that on purpose for ergonomics and comfort. I have a SEIKO (SNR023) that is basically a Grand Seiko and it has much tighter tolerances on the bracelet, and I can tell you that it can be a little rigid on the wrist restricting blood flow sometimes. The more disheartening part is that this bracelet is taken from other Grand Seiko models and not designed for this case. You can tell from how the end links don't take shape as that of the lug ends.
@@inkhaurt5812 I gather you were talking about your model (SNR023)'s bracelet? As the bracelet on the SLGH003 is all new and designed specifically for that watch
Nah, overpriced. Looks like a 50 quid Seiko I had 30 yrs ago.
Yeah it sux, because i cant afford it lmaoo
From your comment I can tell you've never handled this piece in person
@@neoth8647 + 1
Show me where, I'll buy up all the 50 quid Seikos that look like this in a heartbeat lmfao
