The fact that there is no leaderboard is, among other things, what got me hooked. For me, this game is not about comparing who's better, red or blues, this player or that player. If you want to know how are you performing - count it yourself if that's important for you. Majority of players use bolt action rifles, if you're solo - you'll get, in MOST cases, killed if you rush. You must rush forward with your comrades. You must be with them for you all to be seem like a group - other teammates will notice it and will join you, that will result in certain area being captured and advancing your team, making it closer to the victory. That's what it is about, not looking at the "TAB" "LEADERBOARD" to see if I have more kills than GenericROBLOXPlayer123456789 on the enemy team or if I'm in top 3. You don't need a leaderboard in this game. It ain't about it. There are no leaders, only comrades in arms.
I find that interesting because it seems that the faction has no real heritage. Their dress is west african, their flag is similar to kenyas and the zulu flag, and their inspiration was probably either the somalis who were backed by the central powers during the darwish rebellion, or the ethiopians who fought off italy in a different war.
After playing this game, I agree with all your points besides one: the length of the battles. I actually think that the length of the battles in this game is one of its selling points and greatly serves the game. They are long, arduous, and intense, and that’s the point. This game aims to emulate trench warfare, and the fact that games are so long means that it does it’s job wonderfully. I played on a match that lasted a few irl hours, around 17 days, and by the end, I was totally exhausted and tired of the conflict, which is EXACTLY what I think this game was going for; that constant agonizing battle is inherent to trench warfare and likely what soldiers were feeling on a much greater scale in the actual trench warfare of WW1. The fact that this game is exhausting to play for long periods but still keeps you hooked speaks volumes about how fun it is and how well it emulates it’s inspiration. The battle lengths are perfect how they are, and from here, I think it’s best to figure out ways that the elements within the battles can be improved upon and expanded so that each battle can become a dance of strategy and brutal tug-of-war.
an update for this guide: the game is now in beta and some new features have been added (these are only the main feature, there might be more that i missed) 1. Levels (which i hate) is basically here to limited some units, All vehicle units now requires level 10 or above 2. new unit (officer) basically have the ability to create a weird popup and tell people what to do (which people don't really do) , this unit requires level 40 or above 3. manned machine guns, basically AI turret boxes tier 3 but it's the player who controls it, can be build only by engineers on day 2
Tips for playing: It's best to build artillery under trees bec it's harder to spot by the enemy and safer when building Make sure to build trench on high ground making grenades harder to be thrown and get into the trench. The bunker thing for hiding against artillery is useless bec lots of direct shot from artillery can kill u even tho ur in the bunker. trees can be destroyed but it's hard to clean the place of trees Bringing a melee weapon to a tank fight can be deadly just go to the enemy tank from it's back and go into the tank. then spam click using the melee in the tank. when the driver is ded u can take over the tank by sitting on the seat. Night is a very good time for engi to build barbed wire, hedhog, and mines. A tactic for sabotaging the enemy is spamming hedhog on the enemy's side.
Yea they should definitely implement a system to get more points. Maybe melee kills only to promote human wave tactics or simple kills by guns only to ensure that you won't get infinite tanks by getting a cluster of kills at a time.
I think that points earned from range don’t give much (maybe like 1points per kill from max distance)this would be effected by studs so say if you kill someone with a melee you can get up to like 10 points but from far away you only get what’s listed above.
There's only one time I've ever seen a troop carrier used effectively. That one time though, the entire enemy team was on a group of 4 and they demolished because the Artillery failed to tell.
i've had a similar experience; the troop carrier parked itself on a hill overlooking our last flag, with an open view of the flat ground we had to brave to get there. it was a slaughterhouse, as we used human wave tactics to try to get past the troop carriers cone of fire but by the time we made it to our trenches, their soldiers there could mop up the remaining stragglers. That troop carrier was a terrifying force on the battlefield that we all learned to respect that day. The benefit of what's essentially an instantly built pillbox that is armored on the front is amazing when you apply it to the right situation. Even our tank failed to dislodge that thing.
@@matthewbadger8685 From my personal view the troop carrier is very effective when the enemy team hasn't got tanks of their own and their artillery is down or its just night. Once I saw a troop carrier ramming itself on a light tank and flipping it over a trench. Well it might be weak but it is very dangerous for infantry men
Once i played a match that lasted 16 days or more since i left before it actually ended. It was before the update where there was multiple flags to capture. The map i was playing was the forest map and as days pass by.. more trees start to get destroyed and the landscape becomes much depressing. It went from a forest into literally the battle of verdun. At day 7 or 8 it already reached 1000 deaths. I spammed barbed wires into my team's flag and it almost got captured 2 times. When tanks were finally in the battlefield, it was almost worthless unless it was spammed because both teams had landmines and those X stuffs. My team also almost captured the enemy's flag all because of tanks spam and almost end the battle but just as it was almost captured, the tables turn and we had to retreat. Me and other engineers decided to make the front line filled with land mines and it actually helped and when the enemy started getting the tanks close to us, it got exploded by land mines and got stuck. At day 16 i decided to leave because i'm starting to get sick as heck with the game.
The troop carrier is still strong, since he have Reinforced armour at front, it can distract enemy medium tanks. also whenever enemy hip into the vechice, you just need to use melee and kiil them.
on day 20 they should make all classes with the default rifle use the carbine, and the other 3 classes have higher capacity magazines and faster fire rates to encourage people to push with free classes and close the gap, hopefully ending the endless battle EDIT: to add to this, you get 20 income instead of 10 and engineers build defensive structures slower, forcing people to close the gap and finish the battle
Lovely guide but I also would like to comment an extra tip for the standard infantry: Use your gun to break shit, seriously. Six shots puts artillery out of commission, they are allergic to bullets so open fire. Same can be said on pillboxes, your guns deal damage to fortifications and structures. The amount of damage only depends on what you're actually shooting at. So focus fire enemy artillery and the enemy pillboxes to destroy it.
I used to play this game sometimes when it was completely unknown and there was 10 to 5 people playing it at specific times. Until out of nowhere a youtube made a video about it and it just blew, kinda feel proud for it but also miss the feeling of being a smaller amount of people instead of 2 entire armies.
uh i think during the removal of catgirls, and before the blue and snow map were added there are rare occurances of catboys. Unlike their female counterparts, cat boys have their own hairstyle, almost similar of hairstyle restrictions to male smurfs
Honestly, I genuinely love the troop carriers. Troop carriers are cheap and extremely effective against infantry. I usually use them as a quick charge to free up some spaces and let my team push. Sometimes if you get enough troop carriers going, it's going to be a bit difficult for the other team to push/move up.
Troop carriers are 1000. Just get a landship after day 4 (the price drops to 1000) and get people to go behind it. Plus, they're extremely vulnerable to artillery.
dont forget grenadiers also have double melee damage so they are perfect for being at the front of a charge. they disrupt enemy lines with grenades and finish most them with melee attacks leaving the rest to be picked off by the soldiers behind. in a game i was the "commander" and we nearly won except the enemy was able to build bunkers on their last flag and it mowed us down. then i blew all of my robux on points and spammed tanks, leading to victory
@@AceOfBlackjack yeah you can get points in trenches with robux. i used to spam landships with it than they released the level system thing recently and i HATE IT
@@AceOfBlackjack year later but who cares Even then it’s not (entirely) p2w. Yeah a bunch of tanks is daunting but it is 100% possible to defeat them. I know from experience.
The longest game I've played was 42 in-game days. It was on one of the marshy Smurf-land maps and had a large body of water separating the two teams' starting flags. This meant that players were forced to bridge across with duck boards, which made them easy pickings for artillery.
25 day battle on this icy tundra (without the wall), joined day 12 and we were losing 5-1 but we managed to even it to 3-3 by day 17 and another stalemate occured due to the ice lake which could only have sandbags. Multiple tank pushes were attempted but ATG was prevalent among the vost nor army. My brother who was an officer took out some minor enemy arty but before I could construct an improvised Dugout (since they removed them it's just foxhole with duckboard roof). Had enough supplies to become a tanker and push the centre. Had to retreat almost immediately. Day 24 some progress was finally made on the ice lake with 1 sandbag sustaining our push. A troop carrier I was driving gained the nickname the 'magic schoolbus'. Somebody complained about this not being a normal field trip. Oh well. Pushed across the ice and managed to sustain a charge across the lake and took out 13 enemies due to a lack of artillery and ATG, mostly rifle or machine gun based targets. Finally on Christmas day (day 25) we took the last flag. 10,000 dead for barely 1km of icy wastes. We had to cancel the Christmas truce due to the miracle breakthrough on day 24 which confused both sides at first. Best tactic was making infrastructure whenever some land was gained, such as mine lines with barbed wire and hedgehogs which had small gaps for friendlies to use but with many mines at these entrances. Saw some relics such as dugout tunnels where the entire trenchline at spawn was coated with duckboard roofs so an earlier tank push could use it as a highway and for when artillery was a larger threat. Medics, officers and engineers win battles. That's all
I get it that the creator tried to make something more organic by not adding crosshairs and stuff but he should add hit marks so i can know when did i hit somebody. The bolt action often feels inaccurate and frustrating when you can't hit things
What sucks is that there is no easy to use gun as there isn’t any scopes. Snipers should cost like 600 if they ever get put in the game cause too many scopes would otherwise ruin the point of the game
They definitely are but they require lots of skill to use. I didn't say the guns were not accurate I said there are not easy to use but tanks for confirming that as I was starting to get confused what is just my bad skill and what is gun inacuracy
I once joined a game of trenches and the server had been in a stalemate for 38 DAYS. at that point people had given up and began building monuments and wacky structures. One person made a huge field of connected foxholes.
IMO theres better trench warfare games, but since the others r like in beta (one of them is alpha) I'd say this game could be one of the best One big downside is just the amount of objects, it causes so much lag its insane
11:35 I personally see the behemoth as a waste of money. Most behemoths rush enemy fortifications and get wrecked instantly. It’s engine is also a massive weak spot, so if someone manages to see even part of the side, your screwed unless you take him out first. Most people don’t know about the engine weak spot though.
And of course, there's the factions involved, so here we go- Restora: Definitely looks like they were inspired from Germany, though Austria-Hungary did switch from light blue to grey uniforms similar to the Germans later in the war, so I guess we can say they're more akin to the "Triple Alliance (sans Italy)." Aldosasha (sic): If Restora are the European members, and they are allies of said faction, then it should logically be the Ottoman Empie...which does match (Khaki Uniform, had influence in Africa recently (before they were kicked out of Libya by Italy), allied to the Central Powers, Desert themed). Saying that, it is possible that the strange headgear is one of the "Soft" helmets used early in the war-cloth wrapped around the head. And while the Afro is anarchistic, Arab Troops did wear a swept back cloth...hat, thing, that was traditional for them-which doesn't look like that, but I try to see the Silver Linings. Oskovia: At this point, I'm assuming that they're a mix of Entente Powers condensed into one faction-Sworn enemy of not-Germany (France, Russia), Green colored uniforms (Greece, Italy, Russia), and effective forest combat (Canada, France, United States). Given the overlap, I can see the case for Oskovia being this universe's Russia...that does bring the question if it'll suffer the same fate as OTL Russia though... Noksuya: The Uniforms, in tandem with them primarily fighting the Not-Ottoman Empire, gives me the impression that they're primarily based on the British...except the idea of fighting for their home doesn't apply to them. The implied guerilla war brings to mind Serbia, who managed to tie down the AH Empire IRL by harassing them until Bulgaria joined in. Other Entente influences include Belgium, United States, and Romania. Vost Dor: Given the very brief summary, I'm not entirely sure what they're based off of. The only ones off the top of my head are Russia (for obvious reasons), Serbia, and Romania.
Rostora - germany prob cuz of the name and uniform Adusasha - some African nation or ottomans their uniform and stuff Oskovia - Russian uniform and name so Noxuvia - Britain due to the brodie helmet or france Vostdor - Finland because they blend in the snow either that or Germany 2
Fun fact, you can build gun nests inside of the rock formations on the desert map, it can perform quite a bit of trolling especially if it’s over looking an area of mines, barbed wire and hedgehogs.
I once played a roblox d-day simulator. Hardest battle I ever fought, and it lasted two REAL DAYS! Felt like I was actually there like my great grandfather before me. Fighting for Germany.
I once witnessed a 40 day-long battle. 15k-16k casualties by the end of it. It was one of the forest maps, but by the end, newcomers were shocked when we told them that. It turned into a vast land of mud and dirt, with shrubbery only being seen far behind the frontlines. I witnessed 29 days of that battle. Many of those were just watching men step without caution, and a fiery explosion following their corpse.
2:07 YOOOOOOOOOOO that's my art! Fuck man, I can't believe it made it up here thanks a lot! Also, there is an updated version in official discord and my Deviant art (It is not completed and I am still changing up things !)
When I first played this game, i thought it was kinda meh. Last week I played it again, got into a 5 hour long battle. Joined at day 2(i think) losing 5-1, we managed to push them hack to the middle, 3-3, however, our attack on the next flag stalled. What seemed like a swift comeback turned into a meat grinder, as days passed, there were more and more trenches and artillery. No one could advance, the moment they pushed us back, our cannons would shred them all, but we couldn't win either, our team had no organization so they just banzai charged. Hours and days passed and nothing changed, so I just left the game at day 18 with around 6k deaths, idk until what day they kept fighting, really fun game imo.
I've been in a 31 day battle and it just got to the point where people started leaving and then when there were like 10 people left we did a truce it was kinda wholesome and I've got screenshots from it
Not to mention that possibly after the update, they removed the healthbar above the leaderboard and the damage screen effects, now I don't know if I'm getting shot or not.
You did a really good job on this guide, I really liked the pros and cons list at the end. Though I will say that I like the fact games can take a long time and thousands of deaths, because that adds to the realism. For me at least.
Trenches, Shell Shocked, and other type of war games on Roblox honestly tend to be so smart. I love how even though much of Roblox is stagnant, we can still see development in the war game front.
i feel like there should be a gas turret that doesn't explode, rather it produces gas that spreads out and slowly eats away at player life, this could be used to stop infantry in their tracks and cause some more damage also, vost dor for life!
I was in a game for 20 in-game days. There were more than 3,000 deaths, and there was some dude named "wigetown" narrating the ENTIRE THING. FOR 20 DAMN DAYS.
i refer to the ATG as mages as most of them seem to be female for some reason so when im playing with friends and need AT support i ask for "the little girls"
I actually just discovered the game and have came back to your channel from blood and iron abs I had a really fun time playing this game for the first time.
Yeah I when I first saw these people I just thought they were exploiters as thats what people in the chat said but then the glitch happend to me and its annoying as out. You can only walk and use melee and others cant even kill you '_'
A dugout saved me from an artillery strike once. So they aren't completely useless. They may not be a Fallout bunker, but they're a pretty good Fallback bunker.
Like Sun Tzu once said: "I base my beliefs in relation to who I am trolling" That's why I am a proud Vost Dor soldier... That goes from simple rally calls such as "For the catgirls" & such, to the use of phsycological warfare through the use of unfiltered, unforgiving cringe speeches. I have not seen so many people on one server being so angry at something since the last Soul Shatters server I visited.
The game is missing one map that could be incredibly interesting: Something based off of the Italian-Austro-Hungarian Front. The bit where the trenches are either cut into a bit of ground next to a near vertical rock wall, or they're just literal tunnels
Dude, there NEEDS to be a commissar role. Just a ridiculously expensive dude armed with a pistol that unlocks at around day 15. The player has the ability to kill players on their own team that have remained behind a line for a certain amount of time (unless they are on artillery, in a tank, etc). Too many cowards just fill up the back trenches while 3 people continue to charge with no support.
Trenches isnt WW2 game :/ Also i dont think theres a commissar in WW1, if the lower ranks retreat their officers will handle it, and commissar will be just useless just sit back on the backline doing nothing than ordering other people like a damn 9 years old ordering others to go or shoot.
i honestly love how oddly realistic this game is, like i wont lie most of these types of games ive seen are either terribly done or have 3 active players. trenches manages to show the stalematey aspect of trench warfare and the importance of artilery, it (in my opinion) manages to make stalemates fun by making each inch of ground taken a huge victory as you know that each line broken can build up to the enemy being exposed with no defenses to fall back to. My biggest complaints of modern trenches is infuriating artilery is, not even from a gameplay perspective really more so the fact that it takes ages to build and fighting against artilery is nearly impossible once youve lost your own front line bombardments. the best ways id suggest fixing this would be stuff like adding in smaller artilery weapons like mortars or some other arcane tech from the great war, also just slightly increase their HP and decrease build times. just a bit to make engineer not feel like a 9/5 job.
There used to be a game close to this, called Armored Patrol. Best Roblox game I have ever played. It has editable terrain too, and you just driving around vehicles, blowing each other up.
But that's more of a cold war shooter than a WW1 and there's only limited terrain edibility most of it is base building and even then most people will go for the simple tower with walls around it defence structure.
Armored Patrol and Trenches are way different than you think Trenches is mostly the Napoleonic "go charge the enemy and try not to die" like every other fps games Armored Patrol is about TEAMWORK and WORTHINESS, COMMUNICATION and MOBILITY You dont just go charge the enemy, theres four types of people: Assault dudes (tank teamwork) Backline arty (jeep arty or delivered from heli) Defense dudes (AT and AA with lit mc base🔥) And the Back-to-back Heli or Mobile Delivery (gonna call it Arma-zon)
they should add planes and AA, once on Day 4, you get a fighter, and engineers unlock AA guns, day 6 you unlock bomber with 3 bombs, its big and slow but packs quiet the punch, it will also have 2 AI guns for air defense, the fighter would cost 1,000 points, only has 2 guns, and no bombs, and the bomber should have 2,500 points since it can pack quiet the punch, there bombs would be equivalent to an artillery shell, the bomber would also likely have the same health as a medium tank, while the fighter will have the same health as a gun carrier.
I won't bother to read all his because haruna (ordnance) has already stated in the discord faq that there'll be no planes, but he's already planning to make a game with planes similar to zeppelin wars but with dieselpunk sky dreadnoughts
That would be a problem though, I think it would be better for the planes as a “ability” for a new specialist class like radioman instead of a vehicle class, because of the map have invisible borders and you’d have to also expand the map more which can take a toll on the game’s engine.
bruh i remember the time they added cat girls back during a test server i was the first to spawn as one and report it so i am technically the first WW1 Roblox cat person.
I remember my game lasting 50 days, for the last 30 days we were in defense, it was so hellish. Tanks kept coming in and unfortunately lost at the end but that was the longest game so far
It would be great if they added a specialist unit called "sniper" it would have a powerfull 6 shot rifle with a scope (This comment is really old pls dont reply)

The battle lengths are perfect how they are, and from here, I think it’s best to figure out ways that the elements within the battles can be improved upon and expanded so that each battle can become a dance of strategy and brutal tug-of-war.

an update for this guide:
the game is now in beta and some new features have been added (these are only the main feature, there might be more that i missed)
1. Levels (which i hate) is basically here to limited some units, All vehicle units now requires level 10 or above
2. new unit (officer) basically have the ability to create a weird popup and tell people what to do (which people don't really do) , this unit requires level 40 or above
3. manned machine guns, basically AI turret boxes tier 3 but it's the player who controls it, can be build only by engineers on day 2
Tips for playing:
It's best to build artillery under trees bec it's harder to spot by the enemy and safer when building
Make sure to build trench on high ground making grenades harder to be thrown and get into the trench.
The bunker thing for hiding against artillery is useless bec lots of direct shot from artillery can kill u even tho ur in the bunker.
trees can be destroyed but it's hard to clean the place of trees
Bringing a melee weapon to a tank fight can be deadly just go to the enemy tank from it's back and go into the tank. then spam click using the melee in the tank. when the driver is ded u can take over the tank by sitting on the seat.

Something that I love is how the terrain changes as you fight the more artillery shells in one place will destroy the trees and grass
Ikr at first its a forest or something and after day 4 its just barbed wires, trenches, artilerry and stuff and dirt. Just dirt.
The troop carrier is still strong, since he have Reinforced armour at front, it can distract enemy medium tanks. also whenever enemy hip into the vechice, you just need to use melee and kiil them.

Use your gun to break shit, seriously.

The longest game I've played was 42 in-game days. It was on one of the marshy Smurf-land maps and had a large body of water separating the two teams' starting flags. This meant that players were forced to bridge across with duck boards, which made them easy pickings for artillery.
We also need an ability to mark places for artillery to shoot if you want them to shoot somewhere specific and not just tanks and infantry
I think you can add "Attack" and "Defend" signs that the whole team can see if you are an officer
Officer:
That's all
This sounds so awsome, i kinda want to get into a long drawn out stalemate.

And of course, there's the factions involved, so here we go-
Restora: Definitely looks like they were inspired from Germany, though Austria-Hungary did switch from light blue to grey uniforms similar to the Germans later in the war, so I guess we can say they're more akin to the "Triple Alliance (sans Italy)."
Aldosasha (sic): If Restora are the European members, and they are allies of said faction, then it should logically be the Ottoman Empie...which does match (Khaki Uniform, had influence in Africa recently (before they were kicked out of Libya by Italy), allied to the Central Powers, Desert themed).
Rostora - germany prob cuz of the name and uniform
Adusasha - some African nation or ottomans their uniform and stuff
Oskovia - Russian uniform and name so
Noxuvia - Britain due to the brodie helmet or france
Vostdor - Finland because they blend in the snow either that or Germany 2

Joined at day 2(i think) losing 5-1, we managed to push them hack to the middle, 3-3, however, our attack on the next flag stalled. What seemed like a swift comeback turned into a meat grinder, as days passed, there were more and more trenches and artillery. No one could advance, the moment they pushed us back, our cannons would shred them all, but we couldn't win either, our team had no organization so they just banzai charged. Hours and days passed and nothing changed, so I just left the game at day 18 with around 6k deaths, idk until what day they kept fighting, really fun game imo.

trenches manages to show the stalematey aspect of trench warfare and the importance of artilery, it (in my opinion) manages to make stalemates fun by making each inch of ground taken a huge victory as you know that each line broken can build up to the enemy being exposed with no defenses to fall back to.
Damn, a catgirl nation is based
There used to be a game close to this, called Armored Patrol. Best Roblox game I have ever played. It has editable terrain too, and you just driving around vehicles, blowing each other up.

they should add planes and AA, once on Day 4, you get a fighter, and engineers unlock AA guns, day 6 you unlock bomber with 3 bombs, its big and slow but packs quiet the punch, it will also have 2 AI guns for air defense, the fighter would cost 1,000 points, only has 2 guns, and no bombs, and the bomber should have 2,500 points since it can pack quiet the punch, there bombs would be equivalent to an artillery shell, the bomber would also likely have the same health as a medium tank, while the fighter will have the same health as a gun carrier.
