Cantonese Opera (and all Chinese Operas in general) is an acquired taste; Nanyin is an EVEN more acquired, it just go on and on, and on and on repetitively. I understand that there are standards of excellence in this singing, BUT being unable to fully comprehend the Cantonese Language, I cannot understand the long-winded storytelling, so I can only listen to this melody for about 10 mins...However the tune is nice and when incorporated occasionally into a full-length opera (when appropriate) it is always nice.
