@@noorykorky5056 Chile- you gon hate literally every 2000s - 2010s teen movie then 😶👀 In all seriousness though, I’m kinda glad that the trend in teen movies faded out, but you don’t realize how prevalent the trope during those eras was until you rewatch all of them again (like this one)
@@missm8067 It aged fine. There’s literally nothing wrong with it, and it is absolutely true in this context. The only other girl who is like her is her friend Areida. Not to mention, Char is clearly used to meeting crazy fangirls.
I love the book because Levine was sure to describe even how the most innocuous of orders-- like him saying "Call me Char" or "Allow me"-- was enough to steal her autonomy and how that would weigh on her. Idk I always think of how wonderfully it played with our colloquialisms and the power of context over language, until language is taken at its most basic level. AHHH love the books.
The movie did it pretty well in my opinion. In this scene alone you can see Ella physically tense up when Char wants to help her stand up and says "allow me" because she has to let him help her and she hates it. The same thing happens when he tells her to wait so that he can grab the bag for her. Both of these things are him being nice and are not orders but they are phrased as such so she tightens up even at him being polite.
You wouldn’t get two mains like this anymore, I love how natural they are, he’s so classically handsome and she’s pretty as she is, it doesn’t feel stylish/trendy or covered up/overdone. I love how natural they are!! Also love their relationship and how they don’t super like each other all the time, there’s things that disappoint which is why they need each other. He’s so naive to everything and that bugs her but he needs her to help him realise, and she states how she feels about it. Even though her secret is hidden there’s something so unhidden about them. They say what they feel and they start off completely different and in the adventure they change each other and end up very much alike but with the differences you need. Also says that you shouldn’t judge people from how they’re made to look. He’s this guy with all these fan girls and even the way he speaks he struggles to not to sound full of himself -he doesn’t know how else and for the first time has an actual intelligent conversation with a girl and wants it to keep going but struggles to😂 Can you tell I grew up with this film?? These are the special kind of films though. The costumes and theme. The acting, it feels like play. Like the princess bride. Silly and inventive but still has a lot of depth and things to analyse. Amazing characters!! Such a good plot👏🏻💕😙 I love it
I probably should have realized I was bi when I watched this movie as a kid because not only do I swoon at the sight of Prince Char (especially during the ogre rescue scene when he yells, “Let her go!” and later kicks an ogre in the face in some *tight* pants), but I had a preoccupation with Ella’s boobs in several scenes…
"there's really nothing i can do about it except have you beheaded but, that seems a bit extreme" why is this funny to me since like ten seconds prior he was smooth talking
pls the way she was calling him (or his family) out for all the shit they did to her land and people and his reply was “hm so ur not like other girls?”
PLOT TWIST: the fan girls are hugh dancy's fan girls irl and he only hids because he's acting in this sene also fun fact hugh dancy and ann Hathaway dated before and during this movie was made
Why Hollywood stopped to do movies like this .. I really missed simple .. funny and goofy movies just for entertainments people not movies about politics or racist i had enough with that 🤚
I’m definitely certain that Lucinda would’ve been the reason that the kingdom was nearly doomed because she had to be so full of herself that her “gift” to Ella wasn’t a massive mistake. Honestly, the only reason Lucinda even gave her that gift was because she wanted the girl to shut up.
Fun Fact: This scene was actually the first day of filming. Director Tommy O'Haver had Char and Ella move, so that the waterfall could be seen in the background.
Prince Char isn't white in the book, but no one seemed to care about the whitewashing at the time. Maybe not enough of us knew what the word "swarthy" meant as kids.
He is so gorgeous, not surprising Hannibal was in love with him. Claire Danes is so lucky
Hannibal in love with him??? What?
Kathryn Orozco in season 3, Will asks Bedlilia if Hannibal is in love with him and she says yes.

I love how he said "call me char" in a smooth talk voice 😻😻
Looks like Cupid shot another arrow 💘💘
Did anyone else noticed when Char saw Ella's face he instantly smoothed talked?
