    1. Something I did not mention, this amp is NOT a random clone with RSL's name slapped across the front, this amp was designed from the ground up in house by RSL, it is their own design and not a mass produced chi-amp from a raondom build house.

    Nice review! I Really align with your take on this amp. I wrote a review comparing this and the Fosi and Aiyima offerings. I find it suspect that most reviewers aren't talking about how much better this sounds than those. This is almost unbelievable how much value is delivered in this package!

    • @NemoPropaganda

      I can't really speak to other peoples experience but if the reviewer mostly focuses on budget gear perhaps they did not have speakers revealing enough to show the grateness of the ia255.1 and that is understandable, most of the time amps and speakers are tested together at similar price points. Ultra budget gear can sound great but it's not the best at showing you differences.

    I used a Sharpie to mark the index grooves on the knobs. I was having trouble seeing them with my old eyes where the unit is set up. It’s mind boggling how such an inexpensive unit can put out such great sound. I think it sounds at least as good as my wife’s Yamaha RS-202, probably better. A lot of people complained that it didn’t come with a remote. For me it’s a desktop unit so I don’t need a remote. Instead I’d rather pay a little more, and have a headphone amp included.

    RSL is a sleeper company. 100% made in the USA. As you know, their subs are an insane value for what they offer. I am using their CG23M as a center speaker and I love it. This little made in USA amp does a very nice job. Again, an insane value. Not a home theater amp or one for critical listening, but paired with efficient speakers, it is amazing. Great warranty, and if you try it and don't like it, box it up and send it back. But for $110 bucks, why in the world would you send it back? Great real world review, as always.

    They really need a combo on their site with this, 2 cg3m/cg23m speakers, and a 10/12s. Technically they have open box closeouts like this but nothing (certainly not obvious) for usual purchase. I'm not even asking for bundle discounts, they could make a killing here. Introduce some decent cables/stands and move ez-does-it systems like mad.

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  7 месяцев назад

    Nice work you are doing Nemo. Over time I think I'm gathering your channel size is more desirable and often more trusting with transparent and honest reviews vs. extreme fast growth, too much or fast content, views, sales, pleasing manufactures and full time occupation. It really seems to change a channel and often maybe their integrity and original trust.
    With that said, I really have to imagine this amp should be very similar to the aiyimas/ fosi's yeah?

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Skip, thank you for the kind words, I can speak on this topic for along time but I'll just say, I understand what you mean, I'm sure the financial motive has absolutely ruined some peoples integrity but I like to think it does not ruin everyones integrity and there are honest guys out there regardless of profit motive. For example Zeos, say what you want about the man but it really seems like despite making a ton of money he's pretty darn candid. Or A British Audiophile, that guy seems to have some pretty rock solid integrity and is a very straight shooter, I don't know any of them personally but it's just what I'm assuming based on what I see from them. As far as fosi, I have not heard all their amps but from the ones I have heard I was not impressed and they are not on par with the ia255.1 in terms of sound quality. I have not heard aiyma so I cannot comment on that. I do know this RSL amp was designed in house by RSL, so it's not a clone out of a build house with their name slapped on it which makes it fairly unique in this space.

    I'm using one of these with LS50 Metas and a Speedwoofer 10s in a desktop setup right now and I've been really happy with it.
    I even hooked it up to my Reference 1 Metas for a bit and didn't have any problems. I'm not saying thats a good idea, but nothing caught on fire.
    Only complaints I have are that the detents are off center (who cares for the price) and that the volume started crackling after about 6 months. I would also happily pay $10-$20 more for a remote.
    edit: worth noting the Ref1 Meta is 82db efficient and drops down below 3ohms in the bass and this thing didn't have issues at all, which is kinda crazy.

      What I will say is the Purifi's are clean, tons of micro and macro detail, smooth, all the power I need, and neutral af. They don't have a sound. Probably the easiest amp to review sound wise. I'd be curious about Dylan's amp because of its feature set and price point. Might be a good alternative to NADs offerings for those who can't pony up the amount NAD wants.

For people who are just trying to get the lean out of reviews quick, or people who sometimes go back to a review for a specific part (me in this case, trying to figure out how you tested the amp) would you consider putting in chapters? Like, intro, specs, how unit was tested, how unit sounds, conclusion, etc? (Some more I thought of: banter, personal thoughts, life update, disclaimer/disclosure) an example of why I would want this is that i came back to see if you tested it with it's own dac or your own, and i wanted the answer quick, and i ended up having to try and get my mind to focus on it when i was in a hurry and it was very difficult.

    I don't know if this has any validity, but if I swap amplifiers in and out to compare their attributes by swapping., that takes a few minutes and I can usually make out the differences between the amps I use going back and forth, same songs, while taking notes of the music I am most familiar with.
    Example, I have a hegel h160 and a keces e40, but mostly use the Keces on various speakers that I have kept and tested many others out on, typically smaller standmounts. Comparing the Keces E40 against my A07 (sounded a little muffled, less detailed and flatter sounding stage, less full sounding too), a Sound Artist SA-200IA (less defined and less bass, not as good mids and treble, other issues too), an Emotiva BasX-A400z zone amplifier (less tight, less layered and less bass, mids not as good and sound lacked depth but a bit more extended highs), Music Fidelity m2si (flabby bass, grainy mids and less refined highs), among others it has beat out in most categories.
    When I swap it between itself and the hegel, I don't hear any significant difference to note except maybe a slight extension in the highs. But, if I listen to the hegel for a few days and for at least a few hours a day and immediately swap the keces back in after playing the hegel, I dont know if its going from a cold start or my brain interpreting differences but I feel the Keces if slightly grainier in comparison. After playing it for say 30 minutes or so, I don't detect the difference any longer. Cold, never detected this difference against any of the other amps I swapped it for.
    So, while I wouldn't call it a giant killer, its retail price was 6X less than that of the hegel, now its priced higher of course but still...it does not embarass itself and essentially keeps up within its power limits which are a little more than a quarter of that of the hegel. To me, one of these class d amps has to at least keep up with that of the Keces.
    I remember early fosi class ab amps and they were not so good although many liked those. Even the class d amps, impressive for well under a hundred but a bit better, but nothing close to the little Keces in terms of SQ. The company is known to make power conditioners and I think did a good job with the power supply. Its been reliable, drives most everything well including a Dali Menuet SE (I once had but returned as it didn't quite meet my needs and was too refined for me, really rounding off the upper mids and highs) but it did get pretty hot doing so at close to maxing out on the well under 4 ohm load presented. The Dali Opticon 1s I have now are better for me and don't drop below 4 ohms which even over a good part of the lower midrange do not present heat issues. Its also about 4dB higher sensitivity so easier to play but. So while limited in power output, it isn't in sound quality.
    The only way I could discern any perceived difference between the hegel and the Keces was by listening to the hegel for a long period of time as in days and for several hours each day before swapping in the Keces and only noticed any difference for a short amount of time, until my brain adjusted.
    I have 2 Keces e40s but don't want to buy a third if a particular, small and less expensive class d amp will do for a speaker I know works well with class d. I could use the a07 but would like more flexibility in having a sub out (w/wo cutoff)/preout. I use the preout on the Keces abd while not the most desired, it works as I only use a sub for fill-in rather than prominence.
    Any thoughts on that written above and perhaps the product itself if anyone else here has a Keces?

      Looked at other alternatives as well and do not want bulk any longer like over 30lb amps or large sized bulky ones. There are a few I would like to try but many are priced much much higher. I think the little Keces keeps up as its measured SNR is better than many and seems to approach higher priced models. Per measured specs I looked at, it beat out the British budget alternatives in that regards, has better dynamic range and a higher damping factor probably what keeps that bass tight and relatively textured in comparison.

This review needs comparisons against like fosi za3, aiyima a07 max, fosi v3, aiyima a200 or aiyima a08 pro. Thanks anyway, I enjoyed it. I guess this is u entering to the world of affordable amps.😅. I had aiyima t9 which was enjoyable until you wanna turn it up. Than I gave fosi v3 a try, I thought it was in the same tier with t9 but didn't have the harmonic distortion that made t9 so enjoyable. Than I purchased aiyima a08 which is old a200 which I found very satisfying when I used it with after market power cable and didn't use its bluetooth and dac. Powerful powerful amp. My main setup is driven by yamaha 2100, had 801 in the past and demoed many at home as well as in the shops . I am a very nitpicking person, I am using a lot of accessories just to get it right even in my second setup (since I have allnthe accessories, I do not let any combo pass. Every combination is tried). Advice that I would give you would be to shop for speakers and speaker cables together. Amp is supposed to be the "least" effecting piece of gear in the chain which I would confirm if the rest of ur system consists of good gear that pair well together. For example when I switch my 2100 and vmv a1, there is a difference but it is not as drastic as it would be if I would switch my speakers or streamer. Let's say amp is there not to color and rest is there to color.

    • @jazzabana
      @jazzabana 7 месяцев назад

      @@trauma50disaster1 you would be fine with smsl vmv a1 as long as your speakers have 90+ sensitivity and your room is around 25m2.
      I can vouch for vmv a1 + supra quadrax combicon speaker cables and triangle borea br03 combination. Then u can play with dac and streamer. I have matching smsl d1se and ifi zen stream. The good thing about smsl vmv a1 and d1se is that they come with very good quality power cables. For example yamaha 2100 come with the worst power cable ever. So you wouldn't have to shop for after market power cables un the case of purchasing smsl vmv.

      If you aren't running multi channel audio from the 7015 then you would be better off SQ/$ wise with a dedicated two channel solution. For the cost of this RSL just get it and listen for yourself. I also have a 7015 it blew my mind how much better it was than my old Pioneer receiver but then I recently picked up an 8015 and yes it's quite a bit better. Personally, the 7015's sound is just a tiny bit too soft for stereo playback. The 8015 is sharp enough that I don't bother switching to a regular 2 channel amp. So yeah if you only need amplification for 2 channels you can do a lot better with a stereo amp and this would be a good place to start.
      BTW, I find the Marantz's heat to not be extreme and actually makes my room a bit more pleasant to watch a movie in!
