My Goodwill knows the value of expensive things and usually puts them on their auction website. I never find a hidden treasure :(

We don´t have anything like Goodwill where I live 😭. There is only flea markets left, or ebay. That is very tedious and shipping costs sometimes spoil finding stuff.

of course the light bulb still worked. when bulbs were first made they did not 'die' and so sales dropped off, cause once ya had one, you were good for life... so the manufacturing got together and decided to make them with a preset burnout time, so they could sell more... ITS THE TRUTH.

Shopping in an ''antique'' store I found and old ''piggy bank'' that looks like Séraphin. For those who don't know Séraphin is a very, very popular caracter in the Québec culture. He was a mean, greedy, nasty man who lended money at high interest rate so he could then seize farmers' land and houses. The novel about this man was writtenin 1933 but his story is happening during the first settlers' days. Séraphin is sitting at his desk, looking mean, counting his piles of gold pieces. It's not in pristine condition but what makes it valuable is that the actor who played him first on the radio, then in movies, and a bit on TV, was my father's cousin.

My aunt worked at the Goodwil,in our hometown. She told me her manager would put anything valuable aside and take them, for herself and sold them online. She was caught, fired and arrested for theft. She got a plea deal. She had to pay all the money she made back,to the store. She got 2 years probation and was not allowed to work any, more retail jobs as part of the deal.

@@alanatolstad4824 I live in Canada and they often show up in thrift stores and not that expensive. One in really good condition could be had for $60.

Bought exactly the same mirror in South Africa for R60 (about $3,3) at a charity shop. Wish I new more about its origin.

There's a charity bookstore in my town that sells every book for £1. As an ebay seller I've so far made somewhere in the region of £600 from them.

In Britain, second-hand stuff seems expensive to me. I think that they see themselves as antique shops, prices to match. All your stuff is cheap.
