- Me and my mum went to North Yorkshire Moors Railway for train ride from Pickering to Grosmont and back. We went on the steam train first and then diesel train ride later in the day. We’ve had a lovely time and the weather was rubbish, due to rain, but it was cloudy. I was using my IPad Air 5th Generation. This video was filmed on Sunday 15th September 2024. Hi my name is Phil i did 50yrs on footplate I started at Edgeley shed in 1961 I fired loads of locomotives in my time i finished my time at Longsight as a driver and I have driven lots of locomotives in my time i finished at Longsight in 2011 Regards Phil.
Hello Phil. That’s great and thanks for the Information about the footplates, sheds and locomotives. I’m glad you driven some locomotives then. They are great machines you know. I just love steam locomotives not because they are great engines, but everything is old fashioned, their whistle, chuffing sounds, steaming coming out of the chimney. Especially they are the first engines to be built before diesels and electrics were invented. Some steam engines gots some lovely names on their nameplates too, especially we know the names of the locomotives. So there you go. I really enjoyed visiting North Yorkshire Moors Railway to ride on the steam and diesel train ride, visiting the stations and the engine shed as well. My mum enjoyed herself too.
