Started driving truck in 1987, I'm now 62 and still driving. I passed along my knowledge to my son who is still driving and to those who I trained over the years. I am saddened to see what has happened to the industry, I used to love my job, in fact I never referred to it as a job, it was a lifestyle. Now it's a job, I'm looking forward to retirement now, counting the days.

One of my fathers favorites. He was a truck driver(tanker). Dad passed away this week at 80myears of age. I remember the day he taught me to drive that big truck , I was 14 years of age.
Came to this site to reminisce and try to fill an empty spot from within my body.
Memories of dad and listening to songs that he loved

One of my favourites from the first time I ever seen a big rig pull in our driveway. Brought tears to my eyes then and still does to this day. My Husband is a truck driver and My Father-in-law's a truck driver and my Boys getting his license as we speak. Blessings each and everyone of you, to the true truck drivers🙏🏼💪🏼 may Jesus always bring you home❤

Red Sovine was one of the greatest country singers for Truckers. Amazing songs he made. He had some that were not about trucks and those were good to, but most of them seemed to be for Truckers. My grandfather was a trucker for some time. He told me some funny stories.

Reminds me of Dad. Red Sovine was a favorite of his. He drove a truck at times. As a child of the Depression, and a veteran of two wars, he always had a side hustle or three, trucking was one. He taught me. And I remember Red Sovine on the radio.
My much younger wife cries every single time Red Sovine plays on one of the music apps.

Every night getting home around 10 or 11 at night. Sure do miss him. Had all these songs memorized when I was a child. Bless the truckers who risk their life for all of us.

My respect and dedication to the old timers and the mid to the new who handle this job every day of the week.

His son was the one with the brand new rig that pulled up around his father and both trucks had the name "Giddy Up Go", thats when they pulled into the truck stop, and got to knowing each other, and then found out his wife sadly died, and rode into the night

Ive been driving for 20 years now. Ive already lost one family, because i was never home. I still talk to the kids a lot, and im still close with thier mom, but never being home is hard on a family. I tried taking time off to make things better before it got this far, but the bills pile up too quickly. Its a hard life, hard choices. Im living in an old motor home right now, still driving truck tho. Im a 4th generation driver, and the 3rd that lost his family. I love my family, but dont really know anything else i could do to support them. If youre a driver, and have a family, take time for them. Its worth it ❤
This song hits differently at different times in life I think. Never easy tho

My grandfather was a driver as was my father and uncle. I was a kid when my father passed. I recently passed thru my uncles home town, so I stopped and picked him up as my delivery was only 50 miles away. He had a grin 2 miles wide. He called my mother as soon as he got home. I'm so glad I did that, but I'm sad, wondering if that was the last time he'll get to be in a semi. For the past month he has been in and out of the hospital.
My advice, guys remember the old timers. It's time well spent.
