Love your analogy for the late races. I'm gonna throw in one. In the 11th, the #7, Kerry. I don't generally like route to sprint, but her first work after her first time routing (stakes race in which she had the lead) was a good one. She cuts back today in distance and class. Trainer has good numbers in all categories, with turf sprints being his best. She won second off the layoff last time. Lightly raced, Luis up. She was let go from the Clemont barn, which is a negative. Hope to get better than 6-1. Good luck, and thanks for all you do with this show..
Good stuff Jon, thank you. I also will never figure out why the stewards EVER need to talk to the riders. You never interview the mook who spits in the Sunday gravy, you just punish them.
Hi Jon I totally agree with you. A foul is a foul. I've been watching races since the 70's. yeah sometimes I want to see a head on or a replay but basically I know a foul when I see one. If a horse I bet and am watching closely commits a foul or receives one my gut knows it. Stewards looking at it endlessly doesn't change it. Let's get some consistency at the least. Thanks for reminding me of how mad I was when Bayern stayed up after body slamming Shared Belief :P
I gave up on stewards decision I just accepted the calls their not going to change so it's becomes a part of the game but it just seems it's always my horse who comes down?
There are two very important elements in horseracing: the horses (health, life after racing, etc...) and the business of the sport (Trainers, Jockeys, vets, etc....) But, the Bettors are a HUGE part of this game....I agree that there needs to be consistency in how stewards judge/enforce fouls in a race. I believe the outcome should benefit the player (maybe a refund for the player whose horse was taken down). As you always say Jon, and which is so true, we will lose more plays than we win....so why not give a little back to the player. I mean, you don't have an inquiry or an objection in every race, and when there is a problem, most of the time no action is taken.
Love Aggressive Riding But Ortiz Brothers Seem to Always be Cutting off Horses or Bumping Horses and Putting Their Horse and Other Horses in Danger...Irad Does This a LOT...He Even Blatantly Swings His Horse 4 to 5 Paths to Try and Intimidate Another Horse
Didn't see today. Yesterday was an abomination.. No impact on me personally but the decision was incredibly bad. Blatant, obvious and certainly impeded the place horse. Not saying Irad should have been fined, probably not, horses do goofy, sudden things, but DAMN! What were they looking at?.A shocking no call
I agree with your premise but disagree about the 2 steward calls understanding I may stand alone. Yesterday the 6 horse had unfortunately came in a path at same time the 1 came out a path as I saw it. They were maidens. Today Irad if took rail path wins easy. His ride dangerous definitely causing 2 horses affected and for no reason. Dangerous and affected a placing. I do agree Stewards should make clear how they are applying the rules. I often don't understand their decisions.
Wednesday's last race was a joke. Jose's horse came out 5 or 6 paths to cut off the 6 horse and almost knocked him off his feet. Easiest call in the World to take Jose down. Police should investigate the theft.
@@barryth The rider is there to control the horse. He was hitting left handed and the horse veered out many paths into the path of the 6 horse. It was dangerous and definitely affected the 6 horse's chance to win the race.
not rain again sat. looks like it. don't know why u don't like A.O.E. in the dandy i do because the blinkers on last time affected his running style & no blk. sat. also cox enters a rabbit to help his late kick & lastly this is a.o.e's distance. unless its a slop spd track he's my play. like the idea no dq make the jck pay with days & $$$.
both no DQs let them run all out they are tired all out animals. less DQ and for sure no HIGH DEF, slow MO replay, no long time please dont turn this into the nfl or ncaa hoops which is almost unwatchable due to those replays
Jon: I have said for a long time that the Stewards should only take down a horse if the infraction was flagrant and obvious...by definition, if you have to review the tape for 20 minutes from all different angels then you should not take down the horse...the Stewards should always defer in close cases to leaving the order as is....
Jon, thanks for the help. My game has improved just by listening to your podcasts

someone hasto make a decision and the stewards are tasked to do it. Should be at lesst 1 ex jock as a judge.
Have to be consistent

The 1 horse came out about 5 paths and should have come down after a 30 second delay.
Respect your opinion

Maybe the key word is the “horse” came out. If the rider brought the horse out, then it’s a DQ?
