The Fame Monster is a masterpiece, the lyricism and songwriting is so interesting and dark, gaga said that she was inspired by classic monster horror movies, and how they are just metaphorical reflections of certain author's fears taking the form of a monster inside a story, wether they are conscious about it or not, she sort of took that concept translating it to music and reversing the process, she tells a story with each song that is metaphorical to represent certain fear monster she envisioned, the fascinating thing is that each song is not unrelated to one another, the stories are interwoven and enrich the concepts of each other, for example, the correlation between the fear of sex and men in Alejandro and Monster, or the correlation between the fear of death, and the addictive state of alcoholism in Speechless and So Happy I Could Die etc, that is why at first the songs individually seem confusing and unclear, so many people don't get what they are about, but once you get it, everything makes perfect sense and you see the sensibilities of Gaga as an artist, even i myself feel like i still don't fully grasp what they are about, they are sort of cryptic, but this is why the album is a true work of art, it's endless discovery in a single artpiece. So many people and fans focus on her fashion and the sensationalism of some of her most iconic moments in pop music, but they fail to see that underneath those things, she is truly underrated as musician, the girl is one of the best songwriters ever in pop music history and in my opinion the best and wittiest storyteller of contemporary pop music, both visually and musically
why did i feel personally insulted hearing that she thinks telephone is one of her worst songs? i am SHOOK. that's one of my all-time favorite songs, ever. that ending is unreal. also, just gave you a follow! i'm very excited for your future content!
she NEVER said this and people always report this when it was completely taken out of context. she said that telephone is her least favorite music video because she tried to put too many ideas into it and she thinks it came out messy. she still loves the song and performs it on all her tours + enigma residency and super bowl show
This opening literally described my first exposure to GaGa, so much so I had to send this to my finally. Their response, "why are you talking like that?" Here we are almost 15 years later and I still fully love and support this woman. Thank you for so accurately describing her start, and paying homage to a performance that many don't know of
What really drawn me in was her fashion, I feel like it inspired a lot of artists to really get out their comfort zone with her style, but music wise she definitely changed music in certain ways that make artists wanna be as bold as that .
i don't really listen to gaga but damn do i know she is an ARTIIISTT! she's incredible beyond belief. tho not my type of music, i cant deny her impact and greatness. enjoyed this vid lots!!!!!!!
a lot of these types of video essays tend be pretty surface level like... just summarizing past events, so i'm beyond happy to have discovered your channel :.) u really have a knack for analysis and SOMEHOW bring new insightful perspectives to things i thought had been analyzed to death. wishing u the best and ofc more growth to the channel!! u deserve it srsly
I wish i could’ve been old enough to fully experience these eras 😭 I loved Gaga and some of her songs when I was younger and remember I got made fun of for liking her in 6th grade, so I stopped liking her. I tuned back in to her when she did AHS and Joanne and have been a stan since. There is nobody like her!
I remember playing those two albums non stop while in highschool! While I love the iconic singles, her B-sides are amazing. Brown eyes and Speechless are some of the best songs I've heard in my life!
I like Lady Gaga however I didn't really experience the Fame or Fame Monster Era since I was kid at the time however I did hear the singles played on the radio station & I did like Poker Face , Just Dance , & Love Game at the time. I really started to like Lady Gaga when she released Applause & I liked her style when it came clothing. She's indeed a fashion icon
You review & dive into pop culture differently from most commentary channels and I love it. People usually put the fame and fame monster eras together but I remember growing up having both albums and seeing the artist differences between the two and no one has discuss this yet! Good job again! P.S Can you do a video about Christina Aguileras albums? Stripped and B2B? (:
Aura from her 3rd studio album ARTPOP is the continuation of Telephone but her label wanted Applause to be the lead single and they also changed the song's vocals to be less aggressive which is sad because the song's aggressive vocals are great and their decision really ruined the song's message of being free and having control of her artpiece "I'm not a wandering slave, I'm a woman of choice"
I remember buying the fame monster from target and the cashier looking at the track list and saying it was a scam bc it was so short. What she didn’t know was that Gaga gave more than what her label wanted her to. Lol
the way i agree with EVERY fucking opinion you stated in this video. i’ve never felt this before. if you’re black, then we’re even more like brain twins
Excellent video, but I think the statistic about Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Fergie being the only female artists to have four Top 10 singles from their debut albums. Mariah Carey (“Mariah Carey”), Cyndi Lauper (“She’s So Unusual”) and “Paula Abdul” (“Forever Your Girl”) all did this previously.
put ur paws up
ICONIC 💜
cause you were born this way!

I think Mariah Carey was the first to score 4 top 10 hits from her debut album. Not too sure about Whitney Houston.
Oh yes
Gaga is the GREATEST. Of. All. Time. @ me bich
