    I love this video. I was there! I’m front row white shirt and black waistcoat - very excited! I’m very lucky that I saw The Edge lots of times, had beers with boys and even had them to visit my home.
    Saw Gem a few years ago in Ibiza, shouted after him and luckily he remembered me. Had a little catch up.
    Happy days.

    fab band who i saw many times, probably most memorable was at dunelm house, i think it was the 24hr festival
    when Scotty joined them on stage half way through for the first time.
    i lived opposite Scotty who taught me a bit on guitar although he was just learning himself back then.

    I'm surprised no-one has mentioned that the drummer Michael Chesters is the older brother of The Bluetones drummer Edward 'Eds' Chesters. My sister Joanne was in the same year as Eds at school (St.John's in Bishop Auckland) and used to go and see The Edge live all of the time back then and I'd often hear them blasting out of her bedroom at home. I totally remember when this was broadcast on TV as she was eagerly watching with the video remote in her hand ready to record it! I'm a drummer myself and it was actually Eds and his friend Dom who first taught me how to do the basic 4/4 beat one afternoon back in 1989 in Dom's parent's garage where his Premier APK (such a classic kit!) was set-up and all these years later I'm still drumming regularly in several bands and have never stopped!

    Yep we all played in bands around Durham at the same time...The Edge, Kutz etc all pulled good crowds...I saw Chesters the drummer in London not so long ago but he was on the opposite side of the underground... Scotty from the Edge was originally in Kutz with Terry Kirkbride (proud Mary, Noel G drummer) I last saw Gem and Noel at a Proud Mary gig in Camden and Terry Kirkbride I have a lift up to Durham a few Xmases back...lots of good musicians came out I Durham at that time

    Ohhhh...that 2nd song slammin'! Like garage rock/The Yardbirds. Drummer looks like he'd be a member of The Clash or Stray Cats, but his style reminds me very much of Tony McCarroll. Always enjoy Gem; Oasis, Beady Eye, his own Heavy Stereo/here... His loose strumming - Stylin'! 😄

    Wow thats a blast from the past...Scotty(now in NY), Gemel (yes he was nick named after Archie) Jan (now an actress), Jeff and Chesters (excellent drummer)...he had that guitar stolen at a Mud gig...I bought it after it had the scratch plate replaced and was resprayed and when I realized and he popped over me mams house to confirm he got it back...I later found the original scratchplate but have no idea where it is now...

      @@modo03 70s Fender Hardtail...it had all brass hardware and from what I remember thats the way it came. Though in the early 80s Schecter guitars were assembled in a guitar shop in Newcastle so the hardware could have been after market...The rest of the guitar was stock Fender for sure...

    Man, them guys are fucking amazing, so young, such energy, cool stage presence...I don't want to compare but it's much better than the shoegazing of Oasis...I really would like to find out more information about the band and whether it is possible to download them songs.

      +û “B.F.” Oasis were shoegazes? I thought that was Ride.

    • @u4890
      @u4890 8 лет назад +1

      Well, not exactly shoegazers, but they're kinda stiff on stage, the music is great, but the style is not so energetic, if you know what I mean. ;) I really like how these guys give it all here.

    • @dylanmorgan17
      @dylanmorgan17 8 лет назад +1

      I think I get what you mean. Personally I think there is energy in an Oasis performance, it is just that the focus is on music not stage antics. Is that the the angle you are looking at from or is it that the Edge are playing faster and more energetic music?
      I really think Beady Eye brought some of that atmosphere back on the first album and tour musically although stage pressence was still stiff.

    • @u4890
      @u4890 8 лет назад +1

      Yeah, sure there is energy in Oasis' performances, but I just love this 80s spirit in this video, it's so alive, you know? It looks like guys who're picking up the guitars after work and just having fun. It's kinda hungry and energetic, it's just for having fun. And they seem really talanted to me.
      Beady Eye was a great act, I really liked it, tbh. The second album was pure class! Although I love NG, I prefer the Beady Eye stuff than the HFB things - it's just more badass. :)
