There are tons of videos on this page and others on how to optimize your profile as well. I would recommend sending a video with your application - that helped me a lot when applying for jobs
When you said "people in my country are obsessed with qualifications" I felt that. Not South African but I am Swati and been trying to figure out a way to break into the field of brand strategy. Start out or having a career shift is quite hard hey

Those saying school is a scam, had she worked as an engineer for 8 years she would have made minimum 1.5M and at the top end, high 4M. That’s reliable across most engineers, where as business success like hers is in the top 5 percentile, keep that in mind. BTW I’m also a business owner and an engineer, with 18yrs of employment and 9 in business.

That's not a lot of money. I quit engineering in 3rd year and did film and TV instead. I make a minimum of 1.3 mill annually as a freelance TV writer. Engineering is honestly a scam for those who think they'll make big money.

this is already big success in my eyes, but I get the sentiment, was just talking to someone about a church youtube we have and how they saw 400 views as low and im like are you kidding, thats one human being that sat and listened for 40 minutes, thats a privilege, time is a privilege, just 1 view will always be major to me, but im not perfect coz im not consistent enough in my creative endeavor coz sometimes I focus on metrics, how many read my article, how many viewed, commented etc - above all else these digital diaries, so we should firstly do it for ourselves

Congrats on this milestone Kay. I made my first mil in a year in 2020 after I lost my job in the travel industry. It was also through freelancing, I specialise in SEO though. I have since left freelancing as I was burnt out and the money was not worth it, and I figured out a better way to make money that suited my lifestyle.

I used to do seo for other people to make them money so I figured what if I could use seo to make myself large profits instead of just getting a fee based on hours.

Congrats on this milestone Kay. I made my first mil in a year in 2020 after I lost my job in the travel industry. It was also through freelancing, I specialise in SEO though. I have since left freelancing as I was burnt out and the money was not worth it, and I figured out a better way to make money that suited my lifestyle.
Thank you for sharing Eugene! People often don’t believe me when I say working as a specialist freelancer is very lucrative. The burn out can be real though, but any high pressure career is like that. What’s your better way currently?
@@KayRadebe well I build apps and websites that make money through subscriptions usually a tool that people use. And I build affiliate websites in different languages to target different geos. I used to do seo for other people to make them money so I figured what if I could use seo to make myself large profits instead of just getting a fee based on hours.
