This is (was) a fun hive removal and everyone had a great time. BUT It (the video))Yappy) had a bunch of REAL BEE FACTS that got inserted sneakily into the humorous flow. Yappy Ya done good
Laying drones in this situation is the colony's last ditch effort to preserve its "blood line". The drones produced could potentially mate with a virgin queen and the line lives on. Bees are fascinating, I've been keeping for 10 years.
Shhhh. It's our secret. This has been out of circulation for a bit because of a copyright issue with some music. YT has some new features for creators Inwanted to try out so I did a re-edit to bring it back to life. Hope you enjoyed the deja-view. Lol.
That situation of a (laying worker) is sad and the other workers may not realize there is no Queen because that laying worker will create some weak Queen Pheromones. About all one can do is add these bees to a hive that actually has a Queen. Best of luck Yappy and Merry Christmas to you and all here !
I cut one out that was under a balcony that was the same size as this one. No brood at all in july/august time frame. Very little honey. I told the owner they were queenless. I set them up in a nuc and gave them some sugar water. Im a couple weeks they had eggs and brood! Now they are in a five over five and are super chill. I use them to show kids in an observation hive. May breed from this queen next Spring.
I could have if there were more bees. With this one, I just added them to another colony. Trying to build this one up vs time just wouldn't work. They would probably not survive their first winter.
Oh that takes me back! I haven’t chewed honeycomb in years! I love honey; however, it has become so expensive I can’t afford it. If you ever have honey in need of a home, I’d love to take some off your hands. Please know that I realize it takes a lot of work to care for the bees so they will make honey. I buy from beekeepers as often as I can. It tastes so much better than store bought.
Unfortunately, bee equipment has gone up like everything else. But I understand that love of local honey. No other taste can compare like the fresh stuff.
I generally only keep about 25 hives. The rest I give away to other bee keepers. I stay so busy doing removals that I know my limits and time to devote to the upkeep of having them
Depends on the amount of bees and the time of year. In this case, I added them to another colony, but a queen may be added as well if circumstance would allow.
They can and do when I remove the comb with honey in it. I generally have a small bucket of water close by to rinse them off though. Thanks for asking and Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Good question. Based on timeframe it could be questioned if it were actually an unmated queen. I never saw one and im pretty good at finding them. Timeframe of 3 weeks and then having capped drone cells already didn't add up to me but it is what it is.
Could it be a case of deja view? Between us , you probably did some time ago. This had been out of circulation on the channel because of copyright issues with "free" music. So I re edited it and hope to use some new YT features that promotes it in other countries as well. Hopefully you enjoyed it just as much as a rerun as you did the first time.
I hope you're enjoying the new "toys". It seems like it. I remember this video, I laughed just as much as the first time I saw it. Have a Merry Christmas Happy and family.
Yappy, I know you had a good time with the Brothers that day. If you had a rubber snake that you could have concealed in your hand to pull out of the hive and throw down, I think they would have left the hood to you and the hive! Merry Christmas and don’t forget to tell Jesus “Happy Birthday”! Yappy we love you and your videos!
@@YappyBeeman I saw him in the comments below. A quick question. Since it's winter and beekeepers are not working their bees. Are banana splits okay to eat? Nobody will get stung because of the banana smell?
The time of year this happened would provide plenty of drones to be available to mate. That "shouldn't" be a problem here but I would never rule it out. If improperly mated, I would expect to find some sign of worker brood (female bee) but none was there. Plus the lack of finding a queen at all sealed the deal on what probably happened unfortunately.
Why are they not stinging him? Watch this. ruclips.net/user/shorts7ckJMLP9Cto?si=mrPLDYNdllEj-1am

I'll take your word for it about the hive BUT you TOTALLY RUINED 5 helpless human beans! YAPPIFIED EVERY ONE! Wonderful!
God Bless You AND Them!
Very good chance that's true. Have a safe and very Merry Christmas my friend
@@YappyBeeman You too, Yappy Pal! God Bless ALL Yall! And yall sure had a fine time!
Now that you're involved, can you do anything to help get them a queen? Or can they assimilate into another hive?
In the case because of the low amount of bees, I just added them to another hive.
It was worth a second watch ❤
Yellow jackets are my only real concern here in Kentucky but I'd love to plant a garden for honeybees and bumble bees.
Start with planting native plants and allow it to naturalize. No mowing that area.
I'm over here thinking the drones were all flying over New Jersey
this was a fun video to watch, all of your videos are. loved it! keep going
Yaaaaaaaap another great video!
Yappy, I am guessing you will introduce a Queen into that group of bees, so they should survive is my guess.
I could have if there were more bees. With this one, I just added them to another colony. Trying to build this one up vs time just wouldn't work. They would probably not survive their first winter.
Fascinating as always Yappy. Thanks and Happy Christmas from me in 🇬🇧 ❤xx

Great info, you know so much and there is so much to tell about bees. Keep it up. Enjoying it intensely.
@@KermisBreakdancePlaza thank you for the wonderful comment. Merry Christmas and hope you have a fabulous New Year
I think I’ll take bees rather than roaches.
Is it possible to introduce a queen to a hive like this?
It must bee nice to have such beautiful weather in the wintertime. Great job.
Amazing-- who knew? But can a queen be safely introduced to a queenless hive, @Yappy Beeman?
I could but for this small of a colony, I just added them to an existing hive.
Thank you for asking the question I was wondering!
Fascinating content thanks for your work
Merry Christmas Yappy! Looking forward to seeing you again at EXPO!
Thank you. And to you and yours as well. May it be blessed. I look forward to seeing you there too.

I generally only keep about 25 hives. The rest I give away to other bee keepers. I stay so busy doing removals that I know my limits and time to devote to the upkeep of having them
@YappyBeeman that's cool thinking about getting into it but need a lot more information on it
So, what happens to the bees then? Do you introduce them to another hive, or put a queen with them?
Good question.
Depends on the amount of bees and the time of year. In this case, I added them to another colony, but a queen may be added as well if circumstance would allow.
This may be a dumb question, but do your hands stay sticky when taking down a hive? And Merry Christmas to you and your family❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hey Yappy, Merry Christmas.
And to you DC. May it be happy and blessed my friend.
Haha great comedy in this one
They were unusually mellow for a queenless colony.
Very. I was a bit surprised myself but I think it's because of the drone brood being so full and a good flow at that time.
I swear I've already seen this video.
Could it be a case of deja view?

I'm in Zimbabwe. You wouldn't do that with African bees. I've been stung just for being too close to their hive.

@@YappyBeeman I saw him in the comments below. A quick question. Since it's winter and beekeepers are not working their bees. Are banana splits okay to eat? Nobody will get stung because of the banana smell?
Thats a great question. Chances of being stung are bit lower but you never can tell on a warm day if a bee might want a little snack as well.
could it be a queen that didn't get mated properly?
The time of year this happened would provide plenty of drones to be available to mate. That "shouldn't" be a problem here but I would never rule it out. If improperly mated, I would expect to find some sign of worker brood (female bee) but none was there. Plus the lack of finding a queen at all sealed the deal on what probably happened unfortunately.
