I was one of those traumatized by The Theif in the Night video when I was in highschool. After that I could not read Revelation without breaking out in a cold sweat. After watching this series (as podrishioners we watch Woodland Hills sermons in addition to attending and serving at our own church) I am now WANTING to read Revelation for the first time since I was in high school--and I am approaching my mid-40s! Thank you

I'm Jennifer's brother, Clinton. I, too, became one of those individuals who became fearful of the future. I remember one day (probably when I was between 6 and 10) when we came home after church, I was paranoid for, probably, a half hour being anxious every time I heard so much as even a loud noise. I think the sermon was about Revelation. But, I guess I was so traumatized that I mentally blocked it out. Then, when Left Behind became popular about Christian book circles, I would so much as even get spooked looking at the cover of one of the books in the series.
It never occurred to me that there was apocalyptic fever happening every 10 years or so. When you described some of the references people were using as “proof” of the end, that's when I had a good laugh realizing a lot of the predictions have probably long past. One of the more documented ones is by Harold Camping:
      ruclips.net/video/QynNpzqYt0Y/видео.html
(The owner of this channel probably isn't a Christian. But, it documents how many crazies this guy manage to convince and how much money he managed to raise.)
But, most importantly, you brought up some good points that Christians seem to forget whenever bad things happen:
God says He will win in the end and just get on with our lives.
Our job is to be passionate disciples of the present.
No one know when it will happen and divination is strongly condemned in the Bible.
This is why I take to heart what I consider a rather important verse in the Bible that I think more Christians need to pay more attention to:
"Do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will take care of itself."
I look forward to the rest of this series and to being able to enjoy life without being afraid of tomorrow.
Can we stop with the fear-mongering?
