  • I was one of the 'first known' to Everest the Ven-Top Segment on the new France map on Zwift. I loved the mental challenge of getting myself in the hurt locker and pushing through to the finish. If you're thinking of vEveresting then there are a couple of good tips in this video!

    Cool video. No frills. Real and “authentic” feel. Congrats! Great achievement! Love Zwift. Someday may have to try this. Probably would opt for AdZ but maybe Ventoux... Great that you’ve also climbed Ventoux IRL. Ride on.

    Let me ask you a question!
    When you get down from the port, do you make a U-turn to go back up?
    Thanks!

    • @pedallingsquaresNZ

      Sorry what do you mean by the port? I had to press the u turn button at the right point each rep if that’s what you mean

    On the decent, after you pedal over the flat area how much further do you decent?

    • @pedallingsquaresNZ
      @pedallingsquaresNZ  3 года назад +1

      Not very far. It was only a few minutes so I just stayed on the bike and waited for the turn around

    Gadgets: what did you use? iphone for the ride? companion for the map/chat? How did you ensure iphone battery is consistently charged. Did the phone not overheat? I don't wanna use laptop, i heard a lot of horror stories on responsiveness. My iphone experience has been good (plus i get to project onscreen) but just not sure how it'll handle 17-24 hours of just going and going.

    • @pedallingsquaresNZ
      @pedallingsquaresNZ  3 года назад +1

      Hey I used my iPad and had it connected to a fast charger so it never dropped charge below 100% the whole time. No overheating issues (apart from myself). I used my iPhone to control the turn around and chat etc

      @@pedallingsquaresNZ thank you for prompt reply...follow up question pls...i do not grasp the concept of 'coast down' ...does this mean the bike goes on autopilot...is my avatar and bike still going while i am off the bike using the 15 minute or so to stretch, change, etc...? Is this a setting i put on in particular?

    • @pedallingsquaresNZ
      @pedallingsquaresNZ  3 года назад +1

      @@emilygraves_ so long as the gradient is over a certain amount (maybe about 7%) the character will freewheel down the hill without you needing to pedal the trainer. There’s no setting to change it will do it automatically so long as it doesn’t flatten out too much 👍

    Congrats. Questions for someone also planning this challenge. why is that you didn't get the Everesting badge when reaching the 8848m ascent? Do you need to finish that last rep to get it? Why did you choose Ventoux instead of the Alp du Zwift?

    • @pedallingsquaresNZ
      @pedallingsquaresNZ  4 года назад

      Carlos Sanchez I do remember getting the award when I crossed 8848 on zwift? Is that what you mean? I chose Ventoux mostly because it was new and I had a memorable experience on the real life Ventoux. Alpe du zwift is probably an easier one to Everest on I think
