You can have two types of issues: sensor connectivity - you just need to try to reconnect the sensor and continue the ride (without ending / closing the app) or Internet connection issues - when Zwift lost connection to the server - ofter this issue is intermittent and Zwift can recover from it (reconnect) while you continue the ride. The worst case scenario is when it cannot reconnect - you can continue the ride, but it won't be saved on you Zwift account (and you won't be granted the Zwift badge), however you can always get the original fit file (it will contain your full ride) and then upload it to Strava.

    It shouldn't be recognised as an achievement because it's nowhere near as hard as actually doing it, not even close. This is only about sitting on a turbo for long enough, which isn't easy but not in the same league as doing it for real.

    • @lonecyclist
      @lonecyclist  Год назад +2

      Well, I don't buy this argument. It is still an achievement. Nobody says it's as difficult as the outdoor version. That's why the organisers have a dedicated badge for virtual and non-virtual challange. By no means vEveresting is the easiest of all, what doesn't change the fact it still requires fitness, dedication and stamina (obviously not as much as the outdoor version). I'd rather not be holier than the pope: if the organisers recognise the effort, they must have a good reason for that. Ride on mate!

    • @geetee4037
      @geetee4037 Год назад

      @@lonecyclist my issue is, if I can be bothered sitting on a turbo for 8 hours or whatever, even if I don't have Zwift on, I can claim I've also achieved it because it's the same difference. Stepping off the bike for a break while the avatar freewheels down seems a bit wrong too. Sorry, not knocking your effort but I think this is completely overhauled and made out as something that it's not. It probably doesn't even equal a real world half-everest but that's just my opinion. I know a couple of folk who've done this and I just don't like the whole climbing and mileage stuff claimed when using Zwift. Same for guys knocking out 100 miles in 3.5 hrs, etc. I acknowledge the time and the effort but not the outcome because it's a made-up outcome by Zwift.

    • @lonecyclist
      @lonecyclist  Год назад +2

      No worries mate, I don’t take this personally. I appreciate the difference as I failed the outdoor version 2 years ago or so (I planned for 10k in ROAM version on Box Hill) and 100% agree vEveresting is not even close to the outdoor one - I spent roughly the same time in the saddle and climbed just over 5k. What I don’t agree is “this should not be recognised”. In my opinion the organisers are ones to decide what counts or not. We can argue which one is more difficult, but if the feat was done according to the rules, it counts. I see this a bit like climbing the real Everest: if you choose an easier way during summer and have oxygen support, you still climb the Everest. It’s not the same as doing it during winter and without the oxygen, taking the hardest route. In this case we can argue the style, but not the fact you climbed the Everest. Same here, vEveresting may not be as noble as the outdoor one, but it still quite a feat regardless.
