My first epic ride // Cycling Sierra de Utiel - 140 miles / 13000 feet of #epicride
Congrats!
This is incredibly pretty but damn it looks absolutely savage to ride, especially knowing that the harder second half of the Granfondo with the elbow and the other long climbs is still left after all of this.
13 hours at 80g per hour is a kilo of sugar. Symbolically, I like that. "By the end of the day, I will have eaten that bag of sugar". Another way to look at it would be to see what kind of cake would be suitable, low enough fat and protein, presumably, and demolish that over the course of the day. If you have 10-20min off 8x, that's plenty of time to eat cake. Lemon drizzle cake may be a good candidate. Or apple pie. Not chocolate, for sure. Sorbet, too.
Good Job :D i will attend it in June but is the trainer diffuclty on 100% or on 50%?
Always 100% 💪🏻
What gearing were you on for this? I'm struggling on 100%TD with a 36x28
For most of the time I was on 34x28, then 34x32. It may be hard to keep the power low on 36x28 (depending on your current performance)
@@lonecyclist thanks. I have 36x28 which is a struggle on 2.5-3.0wkg. May have to get a bigger cog.
Thanks for the tips
Happy to help. Good luck on your attempt if you plan it!
See you the 27th April 2024! ❤
Didn't look like that this year! ;)
Yeah, made a mistake in the caption 🤦🏻
Inspirational. I will do it one day too. Thanks for sharing
Thanks! It’s worthy a try! The good news is, indoor version is the easiest one! Good luck!
That was good. Very useful. Food and water seem to be key. Nice effort. 👍
Thanks! Are you going this year?
Yes. I’ve fine the 167 three times with my wife and daughter but along to do the full 312 this year. I’m diabetic so a fuel strategy is key for me.
@@moobaz8675 oh yeah, you have to plan your food carefully. I’m sure you can make it! Good luck and see you in the start line!
Without a doubt, the very best video on Mallorca 312. Informative, well-shot, great editing and a well chosen soundtrack. 10/10. Thanks for putting it together.
Thank you very much! I'm happy you like it. Are you going this year?
@@lonecyclistYes, I was lucky enough to get a ticket. I’m following the Wahoo SYSTM 200 Mile Gravel plan in preparation. Hopefully it will be sufficient!
Super cool! 💪🏻 See there then!
Great Job Daniel 🎉👏 Just ahead of my PB for 20 seconds. Fantastic effort I need to try the Alpe again soon 😁 I subbed. See you up and down the Alpe
0:57 its hard to believe this guy averages 293 watts on the Alpe.
Well, check my Strava activities. I was surprised myself. It was 290W to be precise.
Oh, you meant my previous PR. I was much different rider that time, much heavier, so 293W was nothing weird.
@@lonecyclist Nice...Do you take steriods?
@@lonecyclist I liked the video. Just couldnt believe how strong you was. Great Job.
Great overview.
Well done, I really want to do this in 2024. How are did you go on the climb? Watts? Any tips?
Hi! I'm sure you'll smash it! I'd suggest stay in your Z2 / endurance range. It's a long effort, pace yourself carefully. That time for me it was ~200-220W but it varies depends on your weight and performance. Good luck!
Nice job. Having been 4 days I would assume your top end will still be there but your endurance will drop. It takes a week or so to get the stamina back.
Thanks! If it’s like your saying, I’m more than happy then 😀
Loved this - I’m based in port talbot so know all the climbs and roads and have done them all , but never done the Dragon ( shame on me ) but watching this makes me want to sign up 👍👍👍
Lucky you! I love these valleys too! I’m coming back year after year! You still have a chance to sing up for the next Dragon Ride as they’re realising 1500 new slots after New Year, so stay tuned!
Well, I can see in your face the difference between the days. You are looking more tired. You dont need to decide between eat and not eat after finishing you fasten. Just eat/drink a "bulion z kurczaka" soup.
The struggle is I won’t be home when finish and will not be able to have anything till late night, that’s why I may extend it until tomorrow.
Superb....
Very beautiful place....🥰🥰🥰
You lost so much weight. And broke my Alpe du Zwift climbing record😅. Well I have started my Zwift season last week and starting also to loose weight.
Lol 🤣 keep working! What’s your Alpe PR now?
@@lonecyclistend of this season was it 50:05 minutes
We need a diet overview video please, you've done great!
@@ismailDemiralp That’s still a great result. Actually anything around 50 min is superb! 💪🏻 Congrats!
@@chefsolidOriginal Thanks! I’m planning to make one on this. That was quite a journey and have lots of to tell about it!
Nice bike
Thanks!

Gratuluję filmu Daniel , you did it!!!!
Dzięki, pewnie po Twoim fittingu poszło by jeszcze lepiej!
Hi out of interest what frame size is your SL7….i have same bike and same bike box but have yet to see whether my size 54 will fit in the case or not.
Hey! My Tarmac is 56cm. It fits nicely but I’m removing the rear derailleur. Possibly 54 would fit with the derailleur on.
Hi again thanks for confirming. I presume you also have to remove the brake hosing cable tidy from under the stem, when packing into this box? Thanks again.
Yes, unfortunately they are too short, but it’s not a big deal though.
Ok thanks for confirming.
👍
Great video!
Thanks! Happy you like it!
Brilliant ride, you're an absolute beast!
Thanks mate!
Good job!
Chapeau dude :D

Great ride!
Nice video montage and talking information, really beautiful place. I m sure you can find better songs. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for your feedback! I’ll try to do better with music next time!
I like your English. I can understand you :)
Haha! Thank you. I hope you can without captions on, though 😂
👍
Did this a couple of years ago when I just started zwifting on a regular basis. I only had my singlespeed cx bike and did it on road to sky. This is one hell of a challenge and bravo to you for getting it done!!!
Thanks 😊
Hello! Thanks for video! What is the best cassette for this challenge?
Hi! I’ve been using 11-32 with a compact (34) chainset. But I used 34x32 only on one lap. For most of the time I’ve been on 34x28, but it depends on your fitness level.
@@lonecyclist Thanks! I've ordered 11-32 too. With my 11-28 was too hard on 10-12%.
Good luck!
@@lonecyclist 11-32 is God’s greatest creation. (Until I Invest in a 10-34, of course.)
Great video, really helpful. I'm doing this ride and route next month for the first time...little worried 😅
I'm sure you can make it! See you on the start line!
Waiting for the your next videos. Where are those?
I’ve got a little delay due to professional matters, but the next video is almost done! Stay tuned!
I like your videos a lot , so continue to provide us more of them. Regarding traveling with a bike, i prefer to rent my bike in the vacation, especially in Mallorca in 2 weeks at huerzeler. Thats works great and I dont need to do all the preparations.
Thanks Ismail! Renting a bike is always an option. Especially in Mallorca you can have whatever you want! It's just a matter of preference really. I just like riding my very bike and usually I'm taking it wherever I go.
Hi im thinking of taking my bike from sweden to ride in poland on vaccation, but my girlfriend (polish) says its a bad idea and people drive like crazy so its dangerous. What do you think? How was it to travel with bike like this for first time?
Hi Alexander! Well, I'm polish and rode thousands kms in Poland (especially at the south). I wouldn't say it's much worse then anywhere else but as always it's just wise to avoid major roads with heavy traffic. Just plan your routs with Strava heat maps (to see which road cyclists do the most) and you should be fine. It was the second time I was flying with a bike (first time with the current one) and it's not a big deal really. Just make sure you checked with your airlines the baggage wight limits, etc. Good luck!
@@lonecyclist thanks for your answer, good luck on your trip you too!
Comparing Sweden to Poland. Yes there are differences on the road. You need more attention where you cycling. I took once my Mountain Bike with me which was a good alternative to cycle abroad the main roads.
well done , but you eat more than what you burn bro
thanks for the demo on swinging. I tend to climb off the saddle in real life and none of the other videos really show the balance portion of it.
I’m happy you found the video useful 👍🏻
Great bike. Tarmac SL7 really is a great “all-around” bike. Once you go disc brakes, you don’t go back. Got my first one in 2019 and haven’t looked back.
Congratulations man, what an amazing bike, did you buy a new frame, or it’s a second hand?
Hi! The frame comes from the Specialized reseller. Unfortunately they damaged the frame accidentally during their build (not very badly) so it couldn’t be handed over to the customer. Then it was professionally fixed and I could bought it for a fraction of the price. If they didn’t tell me it was fixed I couldn’t tell that. There’s literally no sign of any repair. Super happy about the deal.
Very interesting. Let us know about the final weight of the bike. Im still not conviced from disc brakes, it makes the bike ao much heavier.
Hey! Including Favero Assioma Duo pedals (which are relatively heavy), Tarmac is 7.6kg
I converted to disc brakes years ago and never looked back. Obviously it depends on how heavy you are and where are you riding and in what conditions. For me personally I can’t imagine coming back to rim brakes.
Great job!
Lycra helps you deal with aerodynamics on a bike to take the unpredictable winds you will be fighting on the road. what is it doing for you on a stationary bike?
Well, I don’t like do cycling naked, I guess. It also transfers sweat out from your skin (at least for a while). It also protects from the fan wind (I don’t like the blow directly to the wet skin to not get cold).
@@lonecyclist I figured there was a comfort trade off. Like you got more watts if you wore Lycra then baggy clothes on a stationary bike
@@TheKillerman3333 Try to cycle indoors in a baggy shorts - I don't think that works well. Also a normal, cotton t-shirt keeps much more water than lycra. Personally I don't find lycra uncomfortable, I'd rather say I like my cycling clothes. There is absolutely no point for me to change to "more comfy" ones.
I did the tron bike in 3 months. 2 laps in one day of the Alp du zwift was the most I managed awesome effort 👍
