I was the blond guy at the end of this video and my son was the little boy. This song has meant so much to each of us over the years. It means even more now that he is older and won’t be under my roof much longer. These days we must not waste is the lesson in my opinion. I’m so glad that I was in this video and am forever grateful to Brandi for having us.

Watched her on PBS had no idea she stirred emotions in me that I thought were gone ages ago because of age and a distant heart break, heard a tune about a song ,a sarcastic I'm doing fine ,the part that stuck out was I forgive you .that means nothing to you but to me it means because you left ,it's OK I have moved on. 100%. this is the absolute BEST song for that hurt; the kind of hurt no medicine can fix; a wound so deep it burrows into the marrow. And only the sibling can take away or heal that hurt when they love you back....or maybe they never do.
Her voice is just absolute heaven.

Brandi Carlile deserves a million times more fame than she has. Every time I see her live or listen to her sing, I am blown away. She is so talented.
My dad showed me a bunch on songs that he liked, so now I love artists like Brandi Carlile and Bob Mould, Rilo Kiley and Jenny Lewis. I don’t care if people think it’s weird that someone as young as me loves this music, cause I grew up with it!
She is one of the loveliest people I've ever seen. Her music is always amazing and so powerful. Not to mention how beautiful she is. Ahh. I just can't stop listening to her songs.

I first saw Brandi in State College, PA at The State Theatre many years ago before she was well known and famous. She was just as good acapella as she is on an album!! She is a truly beautiful talent. My partner and I got to sit in the first few rows and got to meet her. LOVE YOU BRANDI so glad you made it to the BIG Time. Love Tanya Tucker too! You two are great together. CONGRATULATIONS to you and your band.

I love this song, but it always makes me cry. It reminds me of my first love, who I fell in love with when we were about 6. I honestly thought I was going to marry him until he was murdered in a hit and run in 2013. It took me a year to stop grieving, but every once in a while this song gives me a good cry and wonderful memories.
I cannot believe your story because the a similar story happened at the same age forr me but he was older,the marriage thought and everything he committed suicide when I was 11. First love,think of him often I thought I was the only 1 that had that kind of feeling at that age.It had been almost 54yrs. Still think about it.

I have always thought there was something that may seem creepy about it to everyone outside of the situation, so I didn't used to talk about him at all, but when I went to his viewing and both of his (now divorced) parents came up to me separately and the first thing out of their mouths was to tell me how much he always loved me, I realized that to those our relationship had an effect on, it was a very pure and beautiful expression of love and anyone else's opinion didn't really matter. So, I really wonder if it happens more often than people think because as children in love grow up, they're told they weren't REALLY in love that young or they did something wrong, so the older children and young adults hide their true feelings. That was certainly an issue for me and I'll probably regret that the rest of my life, though I have found love again as an adult two years after he died.

One of the songs I uploaded on my iPod before I went serving. Me and my girlfriend made this our song, always listened to this when I was scared, reminded me of what I had back home, something I had to come back to. That kept me going and I'm back home reunited with my beloved Jessica and have two adorable twin daughters, who actually turned a year old last wednesday :D. Brandi really is one of those artists that can transcend between genres whenever she wants. I have been enjoying all of the tracks off Bear Creek since its release. Its a great record that will certainly stay in my summer rotation!

To think I got to know about Brandi's music through an add. Delicate voice, smooth and soulful. Finally got the recognition she was owed. Persistence was her answer. Quality throughout her career was the winner. Amazing singer-songwriter. The lyrics of her songs hits you like a brick wall.
Saw B in Newport,Bear Creek had just come out.The band was spectacular,especially the twins(visual bookends,how cool is that)had my teenage daughter with me,who was into hip hop at the time.Brandi did her version of Folsom Prison Blues,blew us away.My daughter turned to me speechless except for “wow”.She now has every CD(so do I)and we’ve seen her half a dozen times since then.Luv ya Brandi!
A bittersweet song. A youthful innocence turns "like wine into turpentine" (good line).
And the line "I'm warning you, we're growing up." should make one want to pause and think about what's important. Can't help but think of Alan Jackson's line "Who's cheating who, and who's being true, and who don't care anymore." Truly bittersweet.

This is one of the most beautiful non-romantic love songs I've heard. I have a brother who used to be my twin - he was a year older than me, but people always mistook us for twins, we had the same classes in school and did everything together, and I was into whatever he was into. We got de-twinned when I was 8 and started going through precocious puberty. I got hurt and neurotic and secretive and lost interest in the things we'd always loved together and left him to love them alone. Today I listened to this song and cried because I know I did the same thing to my brother that Brandi's brother did to her.
I heard brandi explain what this song was about and ever since then this song has so much more meaning. I love Brandi so much . What an incredible talent this woman.

That didn’t bother me -it was an arrangement they made and we were happy to see both of them. What DID get under my skin was Brandi calling him the greatest, the best, etc. I wanted her to have more pride. And then RL got up there and bitched about the weather. His music tells you he’s depressed, but Jesus man, leave that off stage.
Something in me is selfish. I just want to tuck her away and never share her. Then...on the other hand....I want the whole world to hear her....because it's beautiful. Can't wait for Sunday in SLC!

similar in technique, range and style. Brandi isn't one of those. You can pick her out of any crowd. Her voice really packs
