Quad AMS is amazing, I have it on my PIR-A and I've shot down over 5000 missiles in a single match with the tiny mech. Denying LRM carriers their damage is so funny.
So why would you want to farm match score? Doesn't make any extra money, right? I figure it would just provide sincere support to the team thus overall team wins, as well as moving a player up in the tiers. Okay, you address this later on: for events when you need to get 250, 500, whatever match score. That makes sense.

It's the little things... at 5:25 that was a perfect, deft switchover from right in the path of the enemy Nascar to right on the TAIL of the enemy Nascar, just by making a quick decision to cross the little hilltop. Excellent footwork and terrain usage for a relatively slow, immobile assault! A lesser pilot would have just been crushed in the path of their Nascar and gone salty about 'leaving the assaults behind'. :D
And yeah, I don't expect to see much in the way of missiles again until they rethink the amount of health they assign to missiles. Most missile types especially the larger launchers got a huge nerf in missile health and are now easy shoot-downs for AMS.

Can't find more LRM boats? Maybe people are finally getting the message that LRMs annoy everyone else. Maybe. The best part about this mech is that it has a gimmick, BUT still has plenty of staying power and actual firepower. You aren't a liability if you don't encounter any missiles.
No, there's just too much ams for lrms to be useful right now. The missile rework went live not too long ago and everyone has preempted that with tons of ams mechs.
If you're an assault player this looks like a great support mech. I still prefer the Nova-S for anti-missile duty. The mobility allows you to better position between your teammates and the enemy LRM boats, while chasing down backstabbing lights. But even in the 10 ERuL/ 3 ERML loadout its rare to do more than 500-600 dmg with it. And it runs out of AMS ammo at about 1200 missiles shot down ;). Given that missiles are the _only_ weapon with a hard counter, taking some AMS in QP seems like a no brainer these days (especially if you are a famous missile magnet).
The recent missile patch has also nerfed the old triple ams mechs like the nova and kitfox. Before, their omnipods had inherent ams quirks, but the rework removed them and made them a set bonus. The nova in particular is no longer getting a 30% rate of fire bonus for ams.
@@hobojoe9337 In practice it really doesn't matter. With the AMS buffs the Nova-S still erases pretty much anything that comes its way. You need an LRM80 or an ATM48 to get a significant amount of missiles through. I'm averaging 500-600 missiles per match with many 1000+ shot down games.
@@TTBprime I get about 50 for damage... I was trying to find a way to make it better. I have tried cutting heating sinks and going for damage, but then it overheats way too quickly. I have AMS in my current build, but obviously, it doesn't make a lot of difference when you're in a light crawler. I like the Cougar, but I still think it needs something to give it a punch without overheating.
Well, there went a few million credits. But damn does that mech and build do magic. I love it thank you TTB!
Pro tip: if you want to shoot down LRMs, do NOT shoot down enemy UAVs... :P
