I followed the procedure, but when I get to "Completing the Add Hardware Wizard" (at 2:41) I just get the message "An error occurred during installation of the device. The system cannot find the specified file". So I don't have a solution yet. :(

If you don't even see portable devices in your device manager this might help you:
go to "view" above in the window and select "show hidden devices".
That just worked for me, I hope it does for you.

I have solved my problem by downloading usb driver software for my phone model from google by searching my phone's specific model.

I think I found something that might help you, go to "view" above in the window and select "show hidden devices".

I tried doing this, but my phone doesn't even get recognized under portable devices. It makes a sound when the lightning cable is connected and charges the phone, just doesn't detect it at all on itunes/my computer etc. I tried a different cable,usb port, reset network settings and hard reset the iphone, still nothing. any tips? i tried a different phone and it connects instantly
