This Spurs team is quite different from the one that played last season. In this new set-up, Branham can become a good option to play on the perimeter for the kick-out shooting chances.
Dude its a matter of cost per value. Malaki's deal is basically slightly above minimum deal. For a player still in his very early 20s its a worthwhile pickup. Flynn has never done anything in the NBA other than have one good game in many years. He was never ever a serious contender, just a training camp pickup
Picking the option for Branham and Wesley is not surprising at all. 1. They will only enter in their third year of NBA and can still improve (I doubt but how never knows...). They will get some minutes this year, even if they should get few minutes compared to last year (CP3 and Castle will play more than these two ones). 2. Two last year rookie contracts at around 5M$ are very good assets to add in trades. For example, if Giannis would be available at the free agency (this is not impossible at all), you would need to match his 50M$ salary with your assets. It is then difficult to send multiple 2M$ contracts in exchange. But 5M$ contracts can be easily traded with a third team and the players can be immediately cut without impacting too much the cap of this team. 3. I really doubt that Branham has a future in the NBA. Poor defender and very unefficient offensive player. Two years from now he will join a greek and or turkish team. 4. Wesley is a very good defender and could stay in NBA to be used in the future as a weapon against some players. But he will never become a 3&D. When you look at his percentage at FT, his 3-point shooting perspectives are almost nill. If he plays in NBA, he will always earn the minimum vet. His 2025/2026 salary will be the highest of his career in NBA. Both players should have no long-term future with the Spurs (but Wesley have more chances to stay a Spurs). PS : The Spurs have multiple 2025 and 2026 first round picks and will need some spots in the roster (it is guaranteed contract and you cannot sign them in two-way).
Makes sense to me. They are system guys. At this point it’s probably better to keep system guys. It gives them this year and next year to make an impact. Also still tradeable assets down the line. I do like Flynn and Boston but never saw them sticking.

Not sure about picking up branham. I’m hoping Wesley sticks. I was eager to see Flynn do something but I guess it’s not to be. Go Spurs go!

Branham was kept on a rookie contract for trade asset.

Very true, and it's always nice to have system guys locked down on cheap rookie scale deals, especially if we can get some more out of them

Include in your multiple moves the signing of Jamarion Sharp, dude is an athletic giant
Wesley will be a top 10 defender in the league.
I say PATFO p/u Branham in order to trade him. Blake's a keeper b/c of his hounding D and speed. He has a future.
wasn't Loni Waker a Spur a few years ago?
Yes. PATFO did not p/u his option.
Flynn will be waived hardly played last 3 or 4 years for raptors
Zach collins trash
Yup for 18 million a year
@@edpena4064 / Colins; Keldon; Jones; Branham; Bassey are all trade assets.
