I still remember putting 80k miles on my FK8 Civic Type R. It cost about $3000 to get the full front, doors, hood and rear lower panel. Worth it? Yep. Car looked brand new when I sold it. Loved always knowing my car looked brand new no matter the abuse and how bad the weather was. Helped me sell it for a great price despite the mileage. Xpel & STEK are awesome films.

I put full body PPF on my Z4 - it’s a year old and looks perfect. There is one small tear in the PPF low on the front bumper where a rock must have torn it. But no paint damage.
Will it pay for itself? No way. But having a perfect car everytime I walk out with no scratches or microabrasions is worth the luxury tax. Now that’s only after 1 year so more to come, but that’s where I am as of today.

It's bound to happen if you drive the car.

One of problems that needs to be tackled is that you have unethical, detail shops, using scare tactics to get people to buy it.. that’s wrong.

I think it’s worth it if you care about keeping your car pristine and plan to keep it a long time. It’s still not perfect and the price is high, so I’m conflicted.

XPEL needs to blast the fact that pitting is a real issue with their PPF if you decide to use regular detailing products.

@@pleaseletitgo1818 what pitting? I had Xpel for 3 years and saw nothing with conventional ceramic coating and sealants.

i was thinking about PPF'ing my G87 but it doesn't make sense. The car isn't valuable enough. The cost was 7% of the whole car and I only keep cars for 2-3 years max. I can pay less than 5k to get the paint fixed when/if I need to. after 18k miles, my car is PEPPERED in rock chips though. some are pretty bad

If you don't keep the car long term and if it's leased, probably not

PPF is good when you want to keep the car forever. It’s worthless if your DD. I say this as I have PPF all my bmws. You can coat the paint and paint correct the car every few years to keep the paint new. You don’t need PPF.

Sorry this just isn’t true at all. My wife has had her daily paint corrected by a detail shop and although the parts that hadn’t taken damage look great, there are still multiple paint chips that cannot be fixed properly, it’s just not possible. Each of these little defects makes her sad when she sees them as she loves her car. It’s not the same. Doesn’t mean it’s worth it, and if you can live with some minor chips and road rash then for a daily it’s probably not “worth it” but I love my car having no paint issues at all after 1 year with full ppf.
