I just wonder, how can you trust these bears? Let's say they have been out of food for some time and get a little bit aggressive... I get a little bit scare just by the thought... I'm grown up surrounded by forests, but there were no wild animals except mooses when I grew up.

Well, what a coincidence, in one last video I said the same thing to myself, and then I said, maybe so or I could be wrong. I learned from looking at Simone's last litter how huge she was, how she wobbled, and how she was cautiously trying to climb the rail and carrying four little ones, I kept saying Simone looked 9 months pregnant. Now I know what the female bear's pregnancy appears to look like. It's a wobbly middle bulge, and they don't walk as they used to when they were not pregnant. Stay tuned....Right now it's still too soon to see it noticeably in the tummy area but she has her mother Simones walk and that's a switch in the rear.

They're very sweet and thoughtful creatures. They have their own boundaries and they respect the boundaries of others. They each have their own individual spirit.
I think it's really wonderful to feel like we are included in their world.
I like bears. I like getting to know their families or at least feeling like I get to know them as a family.
They seem to listen to Patrick and they seem to understand him.
Maybe not word for word but they are definitely sensitive to tone.
They seem to be very caring individuals. What a trip.
So what would happen if Luca had come up and Ruby was there? Do they fight if they see another bear? Or do they ignore each other?

Right. I've wondered if a Bear has ever marked Mr. Conley's verandah, and how would the other Bears feel about that.
Secondly, has a Bear ever brought a friend for a visit?
Lastly, I'm 100% certain Mr. Conley has told them he loves them. I'm just waiting to hear it! 💌
They all know the rules of the porch and obviously know they are welcome. It brings peace to my day just watching
Hi Patrick! I would absolutely love spending my days like you watching the bears, and feeding Bandito! I turn 77 this year, and to me this would be such an exciting life! Living in Indianapolis I don’t have the opportunity to feed bears although I live by the woods! We do have deer, but they don’t stay close like the bears! I have watched them running down the road, and love it! Have a good day!

Beauty and grace runs in Luca's family because her mother is all that and more. It is so neat and touching that Luca trusts you so much she doesn't mind you moving around to go in and turn the outside lights on. I don’t have a life with a lot of peace, so I want to thank you for such peaceful videos. I grew up around black bears, and I’ve always loved them. I’ve moved to Central Europe where there’s not a lot of wildlife due to loss of habitat and over hunting, and they really see bears as monsters that are meant to be shot if they get too close to a city. I love that these videos show that animals and humans can live side by side with mutual respect.

Yes. Also, Cosmo and Prue are Ruby's cubs. Simone, Maurice, and Solange are Maite's cubs. Magda and Dolores are two other mama bears. I'm not sure who Biff's mother is.

She had her litter the year after Simone had Milo and Luca. She could be her sister from the litter before Simone, but I don't think Ruby's older than her.

They all used the same one or two support beams for brace to climb up, can see they're bent slightly. Why that particular spot I wonder? (Rhetorical - I know it's the perfect landing spot to the feeder but still)
When I was not quite grown, there used to be these radio commercials with Tom Bodette for Motel 6 with a folk tune being played on a fiddle. Bodette would talk about the clean, comfortable rooms and at the end he'd say "we'll leave the light on for ya." Link here:

It was so friendly, down home folksy that it always made me feel good as I lay in bed at night. Uncle Pat turning on the light for Miss Luca reminded me of that. I am so glad the bears see Uncle Pat's home as a kind of a safe haven. ❤

my father, rip, used to sit on his back deck in evenings, after dinner, his drink, smoke, newspaper and treats for his "wild" animals, which consisted of Birds, rabbits, squirrels...and to my mother's horror...a Skunk, that was about the most dangerous animal my father interacted with, but dad would bring out a cpl slices of cheese and break of pieces and hand feed the skunk, it waited for my dad, when he came out, sat down, the skunk would come up the deck stairs and lay down on deck, rt next to my old man...Mom "you gonna get sprayed", he never did..lol
Thankfully they only spray when they feel they are in danger. The skunk clearly knew your Dad was a kind friend. ❤
Drop me a message if a property within a mile or so of you, comes up for sale - I could so easily see out my days chilling with the bears and the other critters in such a wonderful location. 🙂

Black bears are mostly non-aggressive. They're more afraid of people, dogs, even cats, than we are of them. They're really neat creatures. And as others have said, they've "known'" Patrick for years.

I’ve got to say what a beautiful girl Luca is, that coat, I’m still amazed at the agility of these amazing creatures! I love how she remembers grandpa Conley’s place and the poor old bird feeder which takes a good bashing once again 😂. and that respectful wee glance back as she leaves for the night. The peace and quiet of the porch with the background hum of nature is so peaceful, just wonderful Mr Conley, have a great weekend. 🥰🏴🇬🇧
