- The Forgotten Highway (State Highway 43) is 150km of twisting back country NZD road. Motorcycle country at its best.
The trip was done on a Buell Ulysses XB12XT. Starting and finishing in Wellington via, Levin, Whanganui, Stratford, The Forgotten Highway (SH43), Taumarunui, National Park, Mt Ruapehu, Ratihi (SH4). Авто/Мото
Pity the Buell music is drowned out, oh well I can listen to mine anytime...
Just watched this again. The best Ulysses video on the net.
Cheers mate! I've got heaps of footage of a trip I done in the South Island of nz, south amazing roads down there.
I'll have to watch it. On the Uly?
+1990 yip on the uly, just over 1800km in 3 days. I need to get off my arse and edit it together.
Any problems with the Ulysses?
+1990 only issue I've had was the speedometer kept cutting out other than that she's been good. 35000km on the clock. Do you ride one?
Gaslight, HWM, Strung Out, and a badass Ulysses. Doesn't get much better Amigo, well done!!
Cheers bud!
First time i seen anyone go straight past the Whanga Pub lol massive road and great Vid
Michael OConnell there was about 10 BMW GS’s parked up, thought I’d give it a miss that day! Bloody massive road a, one of the best in the country on a good day aye.
For sure bud
I have an 08, great bikes. You`re a damn good rider too.
MrShifflett20 awesome bikes! haha cheers but its probably the camera
Year later i watch this video again while thinking about buying a 2nd uly. Should have never traded the last one.....regrets.
Have another thumbs up.
"Dam goats" haha excellent vid.
What took place at 1:42 to almost make you lose control? Wet surface? Animal and braking? I missed it.
Nice video. That looks like an X rather than an XT though, or did you mod the XT? I've ridden both and the XT is definitely the sweeter of the two on the street.
Yeah it's an xt, put the front beak from a X on it. They are great bikes
LOL - Just bought 2010 XT and aiming for the same road (FH) but from Wgt to Napier, Gentle Annie, Forgotten Highway, New Plymoth then to Akl. Looks fab ride :) Love the music and the roar!!! Wondering if you know what the tank range is (with or without the reserve in play)!?!
Jack Pecsy depends on how hard you ride but allow for 200-220kms before the fuel light comes on and you are dancing with the devil if you go over 45kms on the reserve.
@@MrEvlmk3 Thanks Steve :) Seen all sorts of info on the web... I think I'll take gallon tote for a first go - I travel light anyway - Thanks! JP
Jack Pecsy yeah mate I use to carry a small jerry can, ran out of fuel right out back of pongaroa, got 60.2kms out of the reserve and that was absolutely nursing it. The forgotten highway is such a good ride, hit the taihape road if you get a chance. My favourite road, few mean camp spots up there to.
Replaced the voltage regulator when it started blowing bulbs. Otherwise fine. Leaves my big block for dead.
Beautiful but without the music next time... i believe natural sound is better...more atmospheric .. Any way beautiful bike !
Hells no man, gota have the music. I listen to music when I ride so why wouldn't I put it on a video. Besides beats watching a listening to 8 mins or so of wind bashing noisey GoPro noise.
+steve williams Ha ha ha ok dude !!!!! Keep ride !!!!!!
Great video and great bike. Usually I don't like rock music playing in the background of bike videos, but this music suits the Buell, and you could hear the exhaust note. Still got it?
+Nick M cheers mate, yeah still got it, not selling it anytime soon. i recently done an 1800km trip around the south island of nzd on it. some amazing roads!
Good to hear from you. Has the X been reliable?
+Nick M yeah it's been really reliable, the only problem I get is the speedo cuts out every now and then.
Surprised you don't have a Buell fuel and handle bar bags.
I wish, rare as hens teeth here in New Zealand!
Promising video. Music ruined it.
