- Blizzard of '96 Joe Cioffi 5 minute weather cast.. Anchors Walt Kane & Greg Cergol. Relive the blizzard of '96 when there is no snow in the forecast! 2 feet fell over Long Island. I worked it 36 hours straight from the first flake to the last.
Thanks for posting.
Joe is one of the greatest meteorologists I’ve seen. His passion for it shows.
you are very kind to say that. thank you
Joe Cioffi were friends On Facebook Joe, keep up the great work .
Thank you for the upload! I grew up watching you; a big part of my youth. Hope you are well.
Thank you. All good here. Merry Christmas
Very cool flashback!!
Thank you
I was born during this storm in Hempstead
1994 was a very snowy winter from about New Years to about mid March
I remember this blizzard. I was living in Bergen County, NJ if memory serves me I believe we ended up with a foot of snow more or less. It was really bad for the whole area unlike this year. I have only seen 6 inches of snow and I live in the Albany area now.
it has been a bonanza in the west for winter weather. Some years it works out this way.
The storm that birthed me... thanks for this Joe
Wow... I was only 26 years old and I remember this storm system.., my and 2 of my nieces, made a Huge Snow man in our front yard.
Snowstorms make for great memories
it will winter soon Enough! thank you
I remember I had just purchased my home in July of 1995 and was hoping for a “big “ storm soon! It started on my sister’s birthday here in Baltimore and it snowed for two days and we had like 25 inches of snow on the ground with drifts of 4-6 feet! I got my wish
Wishes do come true sometimes
Great coverage Joe!!😁 cant wait for a forecast like this again someday LOL
aye....look at the handsome young joe!!!!! lol.
he decayed a lot in 24 yrs
You looked great, Joe--you were and are an awesome weather forecaster! That blizzard was horrendous, one of the worst in memory.

i remember good old days...
I totally wouldn't have recognized a younger Joe! I was only 7 but I totally remember this epic snowstorm!
That was 27 years and 20 lbs ago. Merry Christmas
Those were good times Joe. My wife got stuck at the station driving me to work.
I was a junior in high school on the North Shore of the Island, this was awesome haha. Very cool to see this again all these years later- thank you for posting, great memories.
Thank you Jimmy. Im still lurking about
@@JoeCioffiweather my dad was on the storm response team for LILCO back then, he got a kick outta this too. Glad you're still out there Joe!
Thsnks again. Appreciate that you both remember
I remember this great snowstorm very well. Loved every minute of it. And no, I was not a kid. I had to shovel it and drive in it like everyone else, and I would love to have another this winter.
Joe Cioffi in his much younger days.
Yes much younger and thinner
Wow. Young weather Joe.
well not that young but thank you!
So many haymaker snowstorms in the past, here’s hoping

Joe Cioffi in his younger days.
Many moons ago
who can forget the snowstorms of 95'-96...
I was in Brooklyn trying to pick up a load of food items to bring back to Minnesota. What a nightmare. Garbage pick up day and not much plowing was going on. Saw a major accident on the incident before the bridge.
I drove from my home about one hour north of New York City down to Kennedy airport to drop someone off in this blizzard. I don’t know what the heck I was thinking! It took me seven hours to get home. However, I made it. I will never ever do that again. That was the first time I experienced a white out. That is frightening!
having driven in every major snowstorm because of work I understand what you are saying.
Joe Cioffi plus I was driving a 1989 Acura Integra which was great for summer driving but not so great in a blizzard! LOL!!
Upload more old videos!
wish i had some more to upload
The blizzard of 2016 was similar to the blizzard of 2006, when they both came a month after its warmest winter month ever.
All that matters is the cold and the moisture arrive around the same time. It can be warm all around it.
hey! :D this was a month after i was born! :D
I was sitting on a flight in Syracuse heading to Columbus,Oh. Last de-icing on the tarmac, last flight out, I was ready to walk off that SOB.
best storm in my life ....
I remember this... i was in the fire department then. I wasn't in that long but many did a standby at the fd. they slept there for two or three days.
This was an awesome weather cast! Certainly makes me excited for the winter, hope we get some big ones!
Same sense of humor under there. :-)
Them Coca-Cola and Pepsi logo though lol
what states does not get hit by tornadoes
Not a gray hair to be seen...henna?? LOL
