  • This tune was reputedly composed by James Allen - piper, gypsy, rogue and hero who was hanged for sheep steeling around the turn of the 18th century.

This tune always reminds me of a tale I heard about Ketchikan, Alaska - which you visit if you take the 3 day ferry up from Seattle to Skagway. Well, it turns out the Red Light District in Ketchikan is up along the Creek. So the men in Ketchikan are like salmon, because they both go up the river to spawn.
Nice tune. This and Plane Tree are the first two tunes I ever learned to play.

Well, he wasn't a gypsy, and died of natural causes at 77 while awaiting transportation for theft. Not only was the death sentence commuted, but a pardon was on it's way to him - he died in jail before it reached him.
