About This Video:
In this video, Rob talks about an important insight learned through doing hundreds of clothing brand reviews - that the most common issue most startup clothing brands have is a fluffy brand concept. Most new clothing lines overlook the importance of clear brand messaging that is easy to understand and conceptualize. For anyone starting a clothing brand, it is vital to place a high priority on nailing your clothing brand concept so that your marketing efforts pay off. Attempting to market your clothing brand on a weak foundation will only frustrate you with no sales/orders through your website. The secret to selling a lot of clothing is to master your brand concept FIRST - and implement a solid marketing plan on top of it. This information applies to clothing brands, clothing lines, fashion brands, fashion lines, tshirt companies, streetwear brands, streetwear lines, print on demand (POD), dropshipping and beyond!
The wrinkles on my shirt are from spending the whole morning moving boxes and folding shirts. I hopped on camera right after without noticing. Forgive me! Hope you enjoy
nice vid bro
We’re not worried about that lol.. great video thanks
No worries..wish I had the same problem lol
Hey u never have to explain that lol!
Sweat is the blood of champions and wrinkles are for movers & shakers! Keep up the grind ✊🏾
Oh My God !! I can't believe you would do something like that!! Unsubbing.
Psyche! Heh heh
I have never walked into a store, online or in person, and asked myself “what is this brand about?” I literally only care about how it looks, fits and the fabrics. 🤷♂️
Brand is also conveyed in the product. People generally have one or two feelings. Usually on their repeat order even thinks as simple as "this brand is expensive but worthed" or "this brand is cheap but good enough" is part of branding. It's not always about the grandiose or a message or something poetic that people tell you brand about
I feel like finding clothes in a store is different that an ig acc or website that you run into.
Hell yes
Well some people care where the company is spending the profits outside of personal. So does the company support something you are completely against? Bud Light, Miller Lite, Adidas making sure you have the pulse of your target audience is going to make or break you.
You are what Karl Marx refers to when he said “useful idiot”.
Branding is completely underrated and overlooked. People tend to think that their brand logo, design, and colors define their brand and who they are.

just to throw my two cents in here, ive never been all in on a clothing brand because of their concept or message. if the designs resonate with me... i buy the shit. couldnt tell you what the brands message is for any of them
Trust me when I say you're the exception not the norm. Skaters worship supreme, athletes swear on Nike, etc. Branding is one of the most important aspect in fashion.
@@AhmedMohamed-ip6yh Exactly, gymshark targeted gym goers from the start, that's what the brand is all about, although they are starting to try and move to more casual on certain pieces, just like addidas and nike have achieved,i think the best people to target from start up clothing brands is casual looks, as majority of people will look as it.
@@AhmedMohamed-ip6yh Supreme has deteriorated into a brand vouched for by shallow hypebeasts who couldn't tell the difference between grip tape and sand paper. There are numerous better skate brands now.
@@IllDawgable Thats beside my point tho is it? 😇

I'm so glad my logo is so unique and stays true to the meaning of my visions. When I explain it , it's always an " ahhhhhh nice. That's dope " Thanks so much man. I'm getting ready to launch in few months or so and I'm glad I feel have I have this part under control lol.

How about some business together? 🌟 I love to manufacture for new brands.

To be fair. If you need to explain your logo, you're doing it wrong.

Creating a business plan should be done before starting your business, keeps you focused and accountable. Also if you ever get lost, you go back to your business plan and know exactly what the message your brand is!
Disagree. A lot of clothing brands that go down the route of a business plan never have that authentic feel it's all forced!
@@drewpaxton867 I think you’re mistaking what a business plan is used for. It’s a road map for your business, being forced or not being genuine is a whole other side of business, even if you don’t have a business plan you can still come off forced with your brand
Sweet. I am just starting and this makes me feel good about moving forward. I actually have a concept! A clear, easy to understand concept. That was really important to me when deciding that I wanted to do this. So reassuring to hear how important you think it is.
How is it going?
Where can I find your stuff ?
What's your thing?
anorther great (and timely) video here. What would be really helpful would be an example (or two) - showing the depth of psychological thinking required to qualify as a clothing brand definition.
i have no experience with a clothing brand yet, i'm just getting started but i have to say i 100%agree with you. i see alot of clothing brands just starting because everyone else is doing it. so with that being said they really just try to jump right into it without putting any thought or effort into it. but thank you for your advice i really learned from this video ‼️💯

Loved this video! Our brand Dope Daughter is super new but we notice quickly we had to get our messaging down fast. That became even more clear when we had a pop up and people became more excited about the brand when we explained it. Thanks for this!

Hey man, my wife is a stay at home mom. She is super bummed that she can’t contribute financially. Nobodys asking her to, thats just her mindset and how she was raised.. recently she started drawing up some designs that i really fell in love with, and theyre extremely different to what i usually see.. working for an animal rescue, these designs really stood out to me. Id love a review of the designs and help with learning how to market it. should we start making videos and stuff? since day 1 “will people understand this” has been at the back of my head. and to see you explain that this is a common problem has helped so much.
I'd recommend that you start running ads on Facebook and making official accounts for your clothing brand, and market it through word-of-mouth. Wear the design on whatever you want it printed on, and start a conversation about your clothing brand and how your wife came up with the design.
Start your own Insta Brand and try marketing your products by telling a Story about them cause storywriting really helps you to be creative and the way you make the post for the product with the Colors etc.
I'm a start up my brand is called TANTRUM and I'm taking everything you said to heart. I'm trying to start my business without handicapping it from the start and was affraid to pick a lane! Thanks for the advice!

I’m glad that I have found your vid 🙏🏾
Thanks for the advice..im starting one in aprill..the thing that im worried right now is that i dont have alot of inside of how the business really works and if you can make lot of money with it
It will probably take a long time before you start making money at all if you want a firm, solid foundation and not just som shaky drop-shipping crap
@@mariusjohnsen8430 ok ok but im not going to work with drop shipping..just selling the thsirts locally. And my country is not that popular to already start with drop shipping..what i am focusing now is the marketing side to start selling fast at an early stage and the knowledge of the business to make less mistakes
Its not about how much quick and easy money you make its about scaling that business sure it will take some time but don't think that your Gonna wake up one day with 10000 dollars in your bank account or something like that u gotta trust the grind ma Man!
Can’t wait to fully understand
Fully understand dbn?
Who cares what the Brand represents, I'm only interested in the design and how it looks on the product. The so-called BRANDS mostly rely on the logo as a sale for $ 30 +, really.
How can i figure it out when I’m confused my self??
nah you got it backwards bro, what brand does is differentiate. say me & you have the same exact product but I've branded better (or not even better but people are familiar with & trust my "brand"/company) who are they gonna buy from?
not only are they gonna buy from me but they'll pay me more for the same exact product. especially if they feel like I run a wholesome company, maybe I plant trees or help kids or some shit & they think of my company in that light compared to another company that's got little asian kids having heat strokes in a sweatshop for $1 a month. that's brand.
"personal brands" kinda made the definition muddy because what a brand really is is a tool to make a company personable/give it a personality. so "personal brand" makes no sense, but long story short a brand can carry a company further than their product. most of these designer companies make bullshit and it sells for 1000s of % markup, because of what it's supposed to represent.
@@darkskinwhite see how far you get with your thinking
@@lukeoconnor1201 how far? well give me any other reason why people pay $100 (or worse) for a product that costs a company a whole $3 to produce & display,
ie. supreme, yeezy, TMC, jordan, nike, adidas, whatever. I'll wait.
since you're such a big somebody I imagine you'll have a good answer, cant wait, please enlighten me.

Hi Rob! Thank you so much for the video - super helpful as usual! I absolutely love the book you recommended to me(the War of Art). Quick question - for blank clothing, is it best to go for a relatively small manufacturer as I know you did with HS Apparel, or is going with a much larger supplier like Bella + Canvas as good/better! Thanks!
Whichever provides the clothing that you like the most! Size doesn’t really matter all that much if you’ve found the right product
@@ApparelSuccess thank you so much!
I am wanting to start a clothing brand called "Unidentified" made for everyone who feels like they don't fit in with any particular group or are different. A brand that anyone can be part of and not be judged. A brand that doesn't care about hype. I have a ton of amazing clothing designs and logo ideas but I don't know where to even start and it really sucks because I feel like I can make something really great.
Don't give up on it yet, keep digging into information and also make sure to document what you learn.
I find that a lot of times I keep studying the same information because time passed and I'm perpetually stuck I the surface level of the field I'm trying to understand.
Crazy cuz like a year ago I was thinking abt making jeans and I was thinking about names and I thought if unidentified clothing
"A brand that doesn't care about hype" I'm diggin it. See, to all those who don't think branding matters, here you go. His story behind the brand has me interested on level one. Next, level two would be are his clothes any good? Level three, does his website look reputable? Reflect the logo, brand, colors, etc. Does it look scammish? Level four, reviews how are those? By about level five I'm about ready to buy....... can you young gees see the importance here?
Would have loved to see some examples... even your own brand as example.
Great video!
thank you your videos are great!
I really appreciate this video.
hey man thanks for all you do.
I appreciate your message thank you
After watching 5 minutes here I still could not memorize this brand apparel name unfortunately. Steve Jobs said if the customer does not memorize the first minute he sees your logo or brand, then it is a bad brand. Nike, one word, Apple, one word. IBM one word. Adidas one word. This is why I still am unable to memorize this brand. ALso the second letter looks like a german word. When I go to store, I do not see brand concept. I pick up the product, I see the size, the color, cost and if it is a T-Shirt and I like the logo, I check if my Visa card is there and I go to the check out and pay and go out to the parking lot. I hardly ever try to examine any concept at all. However I do check who is manufacturing the fabric like Gildal or Oneida. Honest opinion from a customer.
Great content!
Thanks!
