- So...Today was a fun day. We took Maggie to a park to meet up with her favorite hooman ever... Her Grandpa. It was a little chaotic but she just melts my heart when she sees Him. Hope this made your day!

I am a senior living in Saskatchewan in a senior apartment complex and they won’t allow us to have a pet So we don’t get to experience the love that a pet brings. We just experience loneliness at night when we go home to an empty house. It’s enough to make a person cry. The government claims to care about us seniors but it’s just lip service. There are so many shelter animals waiting to be loved and so many seniors waiting to give love. It’s a crying shame
a lot of those places see pets as extra liabilities...its sad

Does no one bring in a pet therapist? If you can’t have you own pet, being with someone else’s is the next best thing. My sister’s dogs have always been therapists. her biggest boy (Bernese Mountain dog) was a big hit at the nursing home. That makes me so sad and if I lived near you I would sneak in a quiet kitty to give you a snuggle. ❤
Aww can you move to somewhere that you can have pets it's a basic human right.

Dogs love the human that loves their human.
He'd come watch her as a puppy when I was at work and my fiance had dialysis, they've always had a special bond.
I’m grandma to my daughter’s Great Pyrenees/Yellow Lab mix. I walk in the door and he goes crazy. The only “grandchild” I’ll ever have so I make the most of it. I love him to bits.

Goldens, LOL She smelled Gramps, much better with smell than vision. Dogs treat us like we are the best things ever. Little do they know.

I really believe that animals can read the love we have for our parents, and they just add that to the love they feel for them. Every animal I’ve known loved my mother even she was never a “pet person”. They changed her.

No question that this pupper "senses" the relationship between his owner and their mother.....very possibly via smell...and revels in that relationship. The pupper gets to understand her place in world.

This brought a tear to my eye. Many years ago my husband brought home a tiny, tiny puppy. She was a Yorkie / Pomeranian mix. She fit in a shoebox. My mother-in-law named her CoCo. She turned into the most beautiful mutt you’ll ever see. She was a blonde Yorkie. We loved spoiling her, she was a very funny girl.
As she settled into our life, she began recognizing certain words. My husbands family lived on a farm, she would bark when we’d ask her if she wanted to visit grampa & gramma’s farm. When we arrived, she’d always run into see her grampa sitting in his recliner to jump up and kiss him.
When it was time to visit my folks it was a little different. My folks belonged to a yacht club. We’d ask CoCo “who wants to go to gramma & grampa’s boat”. She started barking and spinning, and peeing all at once. She’d run out to the car and wait to go, barking the whole time. When we arrived at their club, the security at the gate said hello to her, and they always had a treat for her. When we parked, she wanted “OUT” now, now now! She would run down the dock and jump as high as she could, always landing on the deck. She’d run in to she my mom who was in the galley preparing food for the day. Gramma always had a treat for her. When my dad would pilot the boat out to the lake, CoCo always sat on his lap on the fly bridge, barking at everyone to “get outta the way! Grampa’s takin me for a ride!”. And whenever my husband and I spent the night on the boat by ourselves, CoCo could spend all night sitting on the rear deck on her chair in her blankie.
We lost her 16 years ago, we still miss her. She was one of a kind.

It was a bit upsetting at first. I thought she loved strangers more and doubted her loyalty. Until we realized she’s only like this when we are with her, when she feels secure and loved unconditionally herself.
Sounds like she's super excited her pack is together. Goldens have the biggest hearts.

My dog loved my dad, blue passed away at age 17. I had him cremated. Dad passed away a few years later. I buried my beloved dog with my dad❤ now there always together. ❤

Dog people find this behaviour adorable. Us cat people find it irritating and slightly scary.
That dog needs basic training, or rather her humans do. Enthusiasm is nice but untrained and undisciplined is dangerous. That is a very strong dog who is going to break grandpa's hip tangling him up with that leash. She should also not be allowed to be pulling at all when being walked on a leash and should always be walked on a short leash. She should be able to be walked without a leash and heel upon command.
There’s probably a reason why you can’t let her off the leash, but I wish you could. I know they get used to it but I still feel bad for her.
Thanks for being understanding about the leash, there was too much going on for her to be off it there. Don't feel bad for her she's very spoiled in other ways.
That's okay. I saw a golden in our local park slip his leash. He bounced straight into the lake and went after the ducks! The owner had to go in after him before he caught one 😅
