No wonders. He might be one hell of a practitioner, but I doubt he ever had the same amount of "live experience" as these guys had. I mean, many of them get in the cage and come out victorious or defeated, but often times bloodied by the skills of their opponents. It's no sparring or pulling back punches for training. I respect Jet Li a whole lot, but I'm fairly sure that an MMA champion would be the end of many if not all of the action stars. Figurative end of course.
@@fatalexception3845 i could only think of one thing, that could still make a difference. Jet Li doesnt would fight it like a match. They are used to fight in a ring and under MMA rules. Guys like Jet Li might now some really mean and underhanded techniques that they learned and maybe just to see if they can be used for a fight coreography.
I remember when this movie came out and Jet Li in a interview laughing about this entire scene, saying in any real scenario anyone of them would have torn him to pieces.
To be fair, in the special features of this movie, Jet Li did say all these dudes were legit badasses. He liked working with them but said they would probably rip him in half if it were a real fight. Not that Jet Li isn't a bad dude himself. I like the humility and precessionalism.
I read the same thing! Jet Li is absolutely amazing at what he does but there is a big difference between doing martial arts and training to fight at the level that those guys did. Just such different worlds
@@BurridgeMartialArts604 to the question in his website Q&A "what would you do if someone attacked you with a knife?" Jet Li answered: "i'd run". Movies are fun but Jet Li isn't a fighter. He is a wushu artist. :)
Oh yeah. That's not Verne Troyer, that's Martin Klebba. He's been in a bunch of movies, including the Pirates of the Caribbean series, the Feast series, and Jurassic World. He also played a recurring character on Scrubs named Randall the Crotch-Punching Midget. Always glad to see him in anything.
I will happily participate in this fundraiser for such a great cause! I knew you would enjoy this scene from an 18 year-old movie and with Jet Li no less. You just gotta love Jet Li
This is movie childhood favorite of mine and it’s one of the many films that got me into Jet Li movies (especially The One, Fearless, and Romeo Must Die) and DMX’s raps (RIP)
Fearless is a classic, Danny the dog if you haven't seen it yet then you should, it's totally underrated movie with good story and actors (scott Adkins included).
You have to remember in the movie they were not their professional personas but just brawlers in an underground arena... and in the behind the scenes Jet acknowledges that this would not happen in real life lol
I did hear that in an interview. It's nice to hear that he did respect what these professional fighters could do! Jet Li is absolutely amazing but their focuses are different. Lots of people do tend to confuse trained fighters with martial arts actors
This movie is amazing, it has that Jackie chan formula of action and comedy, and it does it very good with the legends Jet li and dmx. The scene where he beats all the MMA fighters is my favourite and it doesn't mean to be realistic or something, just fun.
All credit to him he did admit these guys would destroy him in a fight during an interview so he knows where he stands compared to trained professional fighters
Hahaha Verne Troyer! 😂😂 Still such a great fight scene with Li vs MMA fighters! Gotta love it! You should react to the final fight scene Li vs Mark Dacascos. Badass fight!
You keep asking you wonder if so and so got embarrassed doing this or that... That's been the story of Asian men's lives as depicted by Hollyweird for centuries now. It is only *NOW* starting to get better, but so very slowly. For instance, every Marvel male superhero that got their own movie had a love interest...the only one that didn't was Shang Chi.
I saw the movie, i remember sort of liking it...but also I remember not forgiving it for ruining the final fight between Jet Li and Marc Dacascos...so much wasted potential
I enjoy your reacts bro, especially Jet Li and Donnie Yen. However you know comments made about said fighters being taken out with one hit, I’d imagine one like Jet Li who was trained since childhood in Wushu would be capable of such a feat. Besides I’m no professional myself, I myself enjoy videos like this. It inspires, so much so that I’ve taken up Hapkido. It’s not wushu or wing chun. But it’s the style that’s always caught my attention. Never too late to learn.
People who don't know. Jet can actually fight. I have a friend from china who was a bouncer at a bar and there was 4 big guys picking on jet Li wife and jet Li wipe all there butt. A lot of people still don't understand the difference between a street fight and a cage fight its two different things
Right? A lot of people are under the assumption that because you blocked it, it doesn't hurt but sometimes those hurt even more. I remember getting leg kicked by one guy and thinking 'nope can't take those anymore' so I shin blocked the nest one and immediately thought 'not doing that again he can kick my thigh all he wants'. The shin block hurt worse than letting him kick me!'
1. Depends on which black belt, id say the highest level black belt is in bjj but grappling wouldnt be effective against multiple people. With that in mind a legit black belt in karate or tkd (or someone who trained muay thai/kickboxing/mma 5-7+ years) would be able to fight off 2 or 3 super inexperienced people without any substantial physical advantages and with no or absolute minimal training, though it all depends on context 2. No these scenes are all very very very unrealistic that is definitely not how fights look like Apart from flashy and or unrealistic moves, id say biggest difference between scenes and irl is the movement restrictions of being against multiple people, because unlike choreographed scenes its almost impossible to find an opening to make space like they do in movies And timing. Timing is much harder than depicted in movies.
This guy just got caged with top tier ufc fighters at the same time and beaten ts outta them without sweating. The most cringe moment in action film history even taking into account it's just a movie
Saw the behind the scenes. MMA fighters enjoyed working with Jet Li. Jet Li even said "In real life, these guys can kill me!"
especially that many lol xD
He sure did lol
I had this on DVD

That scene where they buying a car was funny and had way bigger sense

Most realistic fight scene I've ever seen in a movie. Bravo.
