Kings Island OPENING DAY 2016

- The weather was perfect for opening day at Kings Island. Bright sunshine and warm temperatures brought in a large crowd. The most obvious change to the park was the construction of a brand new toll plaza, which you'll see at the beginning of this video. Rivertown is home to new funnel cake stand...and a new construction fence! Scrambler was updated with a paint job and lighting package. Unfortunately, Eiffel Tower was closed, so no footage from way up there :/ Filmed Saturday, April 16, 2016.
It was great to see all of my coaster friends again! Thanks to all of you who watch, comment, and subscribe. I really appreciate it. Looking forward to another fun season :)

I know that when I see your opening day video pop up in my feed that the warmer weather is finally here again. I also know that I am in for a real treat. I have to say it and I will try to do so without sounding corny. Your videos are 'thee best' park videos on the Net. I have watched quite a few of them over the past ten years or so. But your videos are shot like no others.
I am kicking back and enjoying the rest of it now. Thanks for taking us along to KI for another fun filled opening day trek~

***** yeah I heard, but I'm still waiting for the construction of a 400 foot coaster at this park.....waiting patiently!
For the record, no one died riding Son of Beast. There were incidents resulting in injuries, but no deaths. Thank goodness The Beast is still there!! One of my favorites.
CoasterBob62 It's a bit premature, but one day we will meet, me you Rob Alvey and East coast, to talk about construction of a 600 foot coaster. I can't get into details, but trust me, within the next 5 years this coaster will be a reality,....somewhere in this country.
Great video. So excited that it's KI season. Kinda glad we didn't go Saturday, we figured it would be insane...but we are going tomorrow. I hope it's not as crazy!!

Favorite park in my opinion, Its my homepark as I only live 1 hour away from it. My favorite rides in order are Banshee, Diamondback, Droptower, The Bat, and Flight of fear

Nice footage man! I was hoping I was going to fly over the park on my way home from a trip last Saturday. No flight over KI this time but I did fly over Carowinds. It looked packed as well.

I was there on Opening Day. Not really packed except between 11-4. Sad I didnt see you, I would've said hi lol. Since I don't ride anything I'm sitting outside the exits with a flip flop string backpack I have to hold xD

First off...excellent video as always by CoasterBob.
But please pardon my ignorance, as I've never been to King's Island. At 1:58 it seems a little dangerous to me to have that "soccer game" set up right beneath the coaster. I mean, what if someone accidentally (or maybe even God-forbid intentionally) kicked the ball high enough to hit the track or cars as they're coming through?
Strazman sorry I'm responding to this so late but there is a net above the soccer thing so if someone attempts to kick it into The ride (Diamondback) it would just hit the net and come back down

Did you film the Cedar Point opening day video May 7 or are you doing it the 14th since they are considering that the "official" opening day?
+PivotCoasterVideos I was at Cedar Point on May 7th and just posted the video. I thought about waiting until the "official" opening day on May 14th, but for me, opening day was May 7th -- so I went.

I know you go to cedar point a lot and I want to go may 21st, which is a Saturday.. Based on past experience would you think it would be busy with long wait lines??
To me yes because on Saturday kings islands wait line are like 15 - 80 min and I know that CP will be a lot busier.

+Cupcake Warriorr There are some areas where you can get close to the fencing and shoot footage though the spaces, making it seem like I'm inside the fence.

Is it just me or does the soccer game look dangerously close to diamondback?? Like a ball could bounce up and hit the track?
Last year was the first time I went I'm going again but last year my gradma rode every ride I rode so basicly there was a 67 year old on the diamond back

+RideAllNight Unless there's more room back there or more stuff worth getting rid of, It's probably just going to be a flat ride. There's no way a giga, or any other coaster, could fit on the current open land at the moment.

+Ivory Keys It was only being refurbished for a little while during the 2015 season, but it came back for the rest of the 2015 season. :-)

+John Brooks Just wondering who refurbishes and where do they get parts for this ride? Isnt that comnpany Eyerly out of business for years now?
Anthony Martinez I believe the maintenance department does the majority of the refurbishment. I also believe they either get their parts for the Monster from Oregon rides (company that bought out Eyerly quite a few years ago) or independent parts manufacturers. It's a great ride and I can't wait to ride it again soon! :-)

Are any of the coaster rides fat friendly? I know, lose weight. lol
+Kevin B Some coasters, like Banshee, have seats for larger folks -- the ride ops would be able to tell you which ones. Also, some coasters have test seats at the entrance to you can try them out and possibly avoid the walk of shame! :D
+CoasterBob62 Thanks for the great information. When I was 300 pounds back in the 90's, I could fit on the vortex, beast and racers. Glad to hear that the banshee is made for bigger riders. I'm still going to get back down to 300 pounds or less before I try to ride anything again. I will ride them by the end of the year.. Take Care
