I remember when this map first came out I didn’t have money to buy it, I was playing with a random kid and he said “let’s go play ascension it just came out” and I told him I had no money to buy it. So bro says no problem and sends me the code to his psn gift card so we can play together. That was one of the nicest things a stranger has ever done for me and I’ll never forget that. He’s still in my friends list even tho he hasn’t been online in years.

Ascension isn't even that terrifying, to be honest.
I wouldn’t say zombies has ever been “scary” it’s just that the atmosphere in a lot of the old maps was extremely unnerving and mysterious. Ascension in particular was really atmospheric because of the dark sky, the announcements played on the PA system, that weird beeping sound that plays when the centrifuge is about to start spinning, and of course when the pods carrying zombified monkeys fall from the sky and make the sky turn red. I’m usually not spooked by the zombies modes, but ascension is that one map that I’ve always had nightmares about
The dialogue provided by Dempsey, Takeo, Richtofen, and Nikolai always manages to bring a lot of humor into the mix, so it’s not 100% nightmare fuel

So nostalgic! I remember playing this map with my cousins but the map was hella terrifying! Probably the scariest cod zombies map I’ve ever played, cuz at first it’s black and white and idk why but the announcer voice makes it scary for some reason

This is my second favorite map alongside with Kino Der Toten and Five. I play it on a PS3 (good times).

Pro tip, throw a Gersh before picking up a max ammo on monkey rounds to teleport back to your training spot. (Or at least closer)

I remember the first time me and my cousin played this we couldn't tell the color was gone because I have trouble seeing color and he can only see grey tones.

Ciekawy spot, no i cholernie ryzykowny, ale jak cię znam to o to właśnie chodzi :P
+ziomix ostatnio duzo cwicze i staram sie zacieśniac przestrzen miedzy mna a zombie do minimum. Dlatego ten spot wydaje sie prosty :) i ma same plusy:
- szybki spawn
- darmowy trap
- lander w pogotowiu

The only reason people didnt like this map was monkeys but I liked them for max ammo and there was 1 main good spot of the entire map

I don’t think they let you buy add ons anymore on that game I think they disabled it on bo1 because they want u to spend money on there new games but u can still get it on bo3 though

When he took the pistol to the pack a punch at 18:42 Dempsey said man I keep forgetting to update my Facebook page and I was surprised to hear that and I think that’s wired because the zombies takes place in the 1940s or 1950s timeline and I’m thinking why would treyarch use that in the game? That doesn’t make any sense also is because back then Facebook wasn’t around in the 1940s Facebook has been around since 2009 or 2010 I think but yeah doesn’t any one think that’s wired? Hmm 🤔

I wish i could play this again, but my xbox 360 doesnt work anymore and I have PS4, not an Xbox One. BO1 had the best zombies in my opinion, kinda sucks that I cant play the original maps (not in BO3 Chronicles)
Nick Capozzi maybe try BO1 on PC? It will run on almost any hardware nowadays. Still feels great!

I read all of these comments and no one addressed the strategic advantage of walking around the map the way he did. ex. Always on the far edge of playable area when there was only a single crawler. Is it purposeful?

You could get to higher rounds by training around the map with the zombies, and the Thundergun is a good weapon to use when training on the Call of Duty Black Ops game zombie mode.

Ik im late but im having a problem i bought first strike and downloaded it but it says i dont have it in the game and i really want to play ascension i actually made a vid about the problem please anyone?
You have to make sure you downloaded the right version of map pack that have the same BLES version that Black Ops itself.
That number is printed on your game disk. Double check that BLES number. It SHOULD help, I know - I've been there :P
