@@OTownNews Well their eras overlapped very slightly but to my mind both are the tops in Canadian television news with Lloyd Robertson a distant (but respectable) third.

Yeah The Journal was good too. Haven't been able to find the opening for it on YT, but maybe Retrontario could track it down. :) *_What was weird about Canadians, is that in the 80s all of Canada tuned in to The National even though they wanted to be Americans. Non-Canadian syndicated reruns in the afternoon until the 6 o'clock news was pretty standard through to the late 90's. Prime time was still mandatory CanCon.
We were lucky to have had CanCon. Otherwise, Canadian content would have been lost. Why is it that Canadians can't appreciate Canadian grown and produced content? No other country spurns its own like Canada.
I did not know that The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation had their own World news series in Canada called "The National". No wonder, I was born in the late 1990s (the year 1998) located in the United States. 😮
@@emigames6248 You mean CBC's The National exists? Yes, I know. I wonder what happened if any channel in the US would aired CBC's the National in the USA. 😃
@@emigames6248 smart. I watched one episode of CBC’s The National on RUclips about Oprah Winfrey interviewing with Prince Harry and her dame wife, Miss Meghan Sparkle. 👍😀
This stretches back to some of my earliest memories. Back when the CBC was objective and professional.
How are they no longer objective and professional? Provide explicit details and proof.
They have a dictionary of approved words that cannot and can be used in their programing @@sadee1287
Back when the CBC was reliable and respectable news coverage.
People keep saying this, but never provide proof. Can you explicitly and in detail give examples of how CBC is no longer respectable?
Still reliable and respectable

God bless Knowlton Nash. The man was truly the dean of Canadian news broadcasting.
SPTO next to Mansbridge?

3 and a half weeks after this broadcast I flew out to the west coast from London Ontario to begin basic officer training at Chilliwack BC

I Like the Way Knowlton Says "Good Evening".
Good evening!! 😊
Folksinger Stan Rogers was killed in that fire.
That's what I thought.

What? CBC had fun shows at one point instead force fed CanCon? Tickle me blue!

I miss Knowlton Nash. A true journalist. And the CBC of his time was an objective and dependable source. Now it's just a propaganda source.
How so? Provide concrete examples please.
