2Pac - Throwback Interview [1992]

  • 2Pac became the unlikely martyr of gangsta rap, and a tragic symbol of the toll its lifestyle exacted on urban black America. At the outset of his career, it didn't appear that he would emerge as one of the definitive rappers of the '90s - he started out as a second-string rapper and dancer for Digital Underground, joining only after they had already landed their biggest hit. But in 1991, he delivered an acclaimed debut album, 2Pacalypse Now, and quickly followed with a star-making performance in the urban drama Juice. Over the course of one year, his profile rose substantially, based as much on his run-ins with the law as his music. By 1994, 2Pac rivaled Snoop Dogg as the most controversial figure in rap, spending as much time in prison as he did in the recording studio. His burgeoning outlaw mythology helped his 1995 album Me Against the World enter the charts at number one, and it also opened him up to charges of exploitation. Yet, as the single "Dear Mama" illustrated, he was capable of sensitivity as well as violence. Signing with Death Row Records in late 1995, 2Pac released the double-album All Eyez on Me in the spring of 1996, and the record, as well as its hit single "California Love," confirmed his superstar status. Unfortunately, the gangsta lifestyle he captured in his music soon overtook his own life. While his celebrity was at its peak, he publicly fought with his rival, the Notorious B.I.G., and there were tensions brewing at Death Row. Even with such conflicts, however, 2Pac's drive-by shooting in September 1996 came as an unexpected shock. On September 13, six days after the shooting, 2Pac passed away, leaving behind a legacy that was based as much on his lifestyle as it was his music.

      @telismane745 4 года назад +1

      Yeah good statement, but the thing is that role models are meant to be real as well, because nobody in their right healthy mind, would follow a "real" and evil person. With all that said, then I prefer in 100 percent to follow a role model. rather than a "real" gangster or criminal person. Tupac was a role model, until he decided to choose the dark life, devil's/satan's life.

      notleftbehind Facts! All these children who weren’t even born yet, have some kind of weird obsession with him. The man was just human, he had strengths and weaknesses like everyone else. In their minds these kids have deified him. I don’t know why, they imagine him in such a way where the children think he’s perfect and can do no wrong. That’s a dangerous situation for a kid to end up in. Parents must stay vigilant in keeping their children safe from potential harm; while still giving her room to grow and learn from his own mistakes.

They met over the phone shortly after and she made a painting for him titled "nothing but love" (from what he said in this interview lol). That's when they signed the contract that had a list of 10 goals for the next 10 years. One goal was that in 10 years they'd be together. They signed it March 7th 1992. Tupac Amaru Shakur aka "Shining Serpent" only the real who have eyes to see know who 2pac was. He was able to live life at such a fast pace because he embodied thug life. It's survival, & thuglife is a lifestyle still lived by most survivors. That's how you reach people you have to understand that. These other cornball rappers dont give a fuck about you or their own communities & he said all of this before he died. You gotta be a genius to take all the fucked up shit in your environment & produce positive concepts even through negativity because at the time many people that followed corporate america did not understand 2pacs message & would rather rule it as insane or negative because it is something different from the "normal" 2pac was a melanin rich man. He had more power than the president at the time because as we know the so called blacks in america are the so called oppressed & His music was about the oppressed rising up against their oppressors. I really believe that 2pac was a true Israelite. That's why his last album makaveli has him on the cross like jesus christ & we should all know jesus christ was a melanin rich man just like 2pac. But I guess that just flew by people heads & they never caught on to 2pacs message.

      Were you around when tupac was? This was not the case. He was popular the way he was because so many people identified with his message. He wasn't more powerful than the President. He even sat in jail. They showed him they could take him down in an instant whenever they wanted. But we still talking about him 25 years later because so many people related to his message.
