It was my pleasure to teach alongside Dave on the Bushcraft Survival Australia 4 Day Intermediate course as well as at the Australian Morakniv Adventure held in Sydney. It was a very busy 3 weeks and I learnt loads from Dave. Can’t wait for 2020!
That is a nice session and gave those present the information they need to know on starting a fire. It is nice that there is courses to show people how to properly perform the procedures to do that.
Was an awesome demonstration it enabled me to achieve fire first attempt later that day with Gordon. Thanks again Dave look forward to meeting you again in the future and learning more
Dave... you da man 👊!! Experience comes from practice, practice, practice.... and your experience shows how much practice you have - which is quite a bit of practice 🤔😂!!! LMFAO... I've watched you for many, many years and I know that you have quite a bit of practice in several methods of friction fire. You said it, done it, and I'm sure that you wouldn't of said it and been able to have done it without knowing from the burn in process that you would be able to get it done! Excellent explanation and demonstration of the bow drill friction fire... thanks again for the best explanation and demonstration!! Never gets old to watch this process done in such an easy way. Makes me jealous sometimes at how quick and easy you get it done. I've seen you struggle before..."Dual Survival" days come to mind and puts me at my own experiences... hahaha, having my own sweat mess things up in almost perfect situation. Something as simple as getting sweat on your pieces being used can really be frustrating 😡!! Great job Dave 👍!!!
Thanks again for another killer video. I need to practice the bow drill method. I was surprised to see so many wearing coats and jackets in Australia, i wasn't aware that it gets cold there, especially this time of year.
No matter how often I watch a bow drill, I don't see how the 'string' is made to loop the vertical stick. Can anyone help? I'm left to assume it's just quickly looped around the vertical. Thanks
Beside yourself and the people with you. Where there any students that where not from Australia? Did you get a chance to study or observe any of the bush craft stills of the Aborigines?

Thank you Dave. It's seems so easy when you do this primitive ignition, you are a master of skills.
Bravo et merci, from France.

Nice in detail video.real informative Greetings from Belgium
You make it look so easy Dave. I need more practice.
Can barely hear the audio
The trick with fire in Australia is not creating it, but how to control it, our forests are powder kegs just waiting to explode into flames.
Awesome demonstration!
