This is a great system, I have 40 panels 2 racks with 8 e flex batteries total. %100 off grid . 2 a/c units hot tub, 2 1/2 refrigerators 5 tvs. well pump etc. No issues and easy enough to hook up myself! Northern Arizona Wind & Sun was great to work with !

How are you not seeing the self-consumption of those batteries that I'm seeing with 10 of these suckers? When I questioned Fortress, they literally told me these batteries eat 30 watts per hour EACH. For me that adds up to 7.2kWH per day which is more then my winter uptake in a day. So I drain my overpriced paperweights in a matter of days despite having little to no load some days. In good PV, I don't need that much storage. I literally wasted $35k on paperweights!

My system was about 50k but had no grid options, No electric bill is awesome though , I love it so much that if I moved and went on grid I would do the same thing.

I called Fortress Power and they said their Eflex 5.4kWh battery has a self consumption of 30 watts while active. 30 watts x 24hrs = 720 watt-hours just to stay active. That's 14% of the battery's capacity!
No freaking way would I buy one of those.. Seriously, what idiot would design a battery that would self discharge in just 7 days on its own?

OMFG! I've been looking for someone else who has this information. I have 10 of these ridiculous things ($35k) and am SCREAMING mad. Is your name Murphy? I've been on the DIY Solar Forum jumping through hoops trying to figure out how to fix my purchasing error (which was really more like being majorly defrauded as this information is not posted anywhere).

Response from our engineering team: "You might want to consider the Fortress Evault Max Battery if you're worried about significant self-consumption. In most cases it's uncommon for active systems to go so long uncharged. I believe it was Fortress's intention to provide an extremely robust and configurable BMS in this eFlex product. Unlike many other manufacturers that use FET based disconnects, this BMS is a contactor driven solution which makes this a much more reliable and robust product. The sacrifice is a slightly higher internal energy consumption."
