Roger Ebert is the single biggest reason why I became a movie buff. I started reading his reviews in the '90s and he, over time and with great patience, taught me how to appreciate a good film. He was also incredibly giving to the internet film community, communicating with anyone back in the Compuserve days (1995) of the net. This back & forth eventually lead to me being lucky enough to be quoted in two of his books. Keep it up Roger!!
I don't understand all the hate for Roger Ebert and all these people saying he deserved to die. He was a film Critic not Adolf Hitler!!!! I was never a huge fan of Ebert until I watched the documentary of his life....the beautiful relationship between Ebert and his wife moved me incredibly!
He and Gene Siskel revolutionized the way people viewed film criticism. The two of them brought unique and contrasting perspectives to their show, but were similar in their love of film and viewpoint that film is a serious medium that conveys views of the times at hand and society at large throughout the years. He tirelessly watched and reviewed films and wrote on the nature of cinema and art until his last moments. That is why he is famous.

Can someone please explain all these hate comments? I mean I always thought Ebert was a well respected man, having the praise of him and Gene Siskel was one of the best things a film-maker could hope for not too long ago, now people are making fun of the fact he has to live with this condition? Maybe I'm in the dark about something but that's just plain disgusting that people would think such a thing.
I don’t know much about this guy ,but the comments posted about him were very disgusting. No one should wish anything bad on anyone, because you don’t know what’s your destiny.. There’s a saying that goes, “If you live in a glass house don’t throw stones”, and another one says, If you are digging a pit , dig two because one day you are going to fall in it too. So never wish bad for anyone or rejoice over one’s downfall because God rewards everyone for the good or the bad they have done. At least he is happy with his family who loves him for who he is and he doesn’t make his looks bother him or discourages him. Be loving , be sympathetic and treat people the way you would like to be treated if you were in that position.
I can only imagine how sad someone's life must be to have to go on every RUclips video about Roger Ebert you can find and make multiple sock puppet accounts to like and respond to your own comments over the course of 6 years just to trash a film critic you don't like. Some people are just pathetic.
I remember when the comments section of this video was full of people hating on Ebert for his occupation, his appearance and his comments over Ryan Dunn's death. It's nice to see a change. Good bye, Roger Ebert.
I really don't think that's true. Probably a couple people posting with different names. Ebert had a ton of fans, and was always interesting to read, whether you agreed with him about a movie or not.
it really feels like the hate comments are coming from the same person with different accounts. using a lot of the same exact insults and syntax and like just the way they are worded. it’s weird man. imagine being that obsessed.
What a rememarkable guy, must be tough to live as he has to now. But its nice to see he is happy and is'nt afraid to show his face. I give Ebert two thumbs up :)
a. you don’t have to like ebert. but it’s so unnecessary to call him and “it”. he was a human being. b. the “he failed at writing so he can’t judge”’is a lame argument. most of the people calling his work crap probably have never tried themselves, so by their own logic, how can they judge his stuff? c. somebody who can’t cook can tell if food tastes like shit or if it tastes good. similarly, you don’t need to be a successful film maker to have opinions on films or to be able to tell what is of quality and what isn’t.
He wrote screenplays such as "Who Killed Bambi" and "Vixens Up". I am correct in calling them failed sexist crap. The ugly critic has critics so deal with it

Gene Siskel has been gone longer than Roger Ebert and he passed away in 2010's and I was thinking about them lately and I think it's just a shame that we lost both of them and I don't want to cry right now because I think it's just a honor to be a die hard fan of them all the years I watched them both on television when I grew up in California
My jaw dropped as I was reading these comments..
I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wonderful karma that Eberts tongue rotted off
Who would appear like this rubberjaws on TV?
Flap flappy Ebeast
@@babsyboone4482 karma for what? Not a sing person of the 50 ive asked have mentioned something legitimate. Just minority opinions and out of context statements
I remember watching their show back in the 80's... Siskel and Ebert were like yin and yang. I'm glad that people remember Gene and that Roger is still doing what he loves: reviewing movies. Also, Roger's and Chaz's relationship is heartwarming and inspiring. Thank you for posting this, CBS.
R.I.P. GENE SISKEL/CHICAGO TRIBUNE & ROGER EBERT/CHICAGO SUN-TIMES.
Rest in peace, Roger Ebert.
He's an inspiration to all of us.
This is just so sad. RIP SISKEL AND EBERT. I adored your shows!!
At least he's not in pain anymore, RIP Ebert.
R.I.P. Ebert!!!
Be loving , be sympathetic and treat people the way you would like to be treated if you were in that position.
i like this guys reviews
I watched them everytime they came on. May he RIP
I can only imagine how sad someone's life must be to have to go on every RUclips video about Roger Ebert you can find and make multiple sock puppet accounts to like and respond to your own comments over the course of 6 years just to trash a film critic you don't like. Some people are just pathetic.
Roger is timeless and he's looks like he's doing well.
Bro this is so sad
Brought tears to my eyes.
I remember when the comments section of this video was full of people hating on Ebert for his occupation, his appearance and his comments over Ryan Dunn's death. It's nice to see a change.
Good bye, Roger Ebert.
NGL I'm a bit teary-eyed watching this. First time I've ever seen him with his wonderful, adoring wife. RIP RE. 🌹👍🏻🌹
Damn, alot people hate Roger Ebert!
I really don't think that's true. Probably a couple people posting with different names. Ebert had a ton of fans, and was always interesting to read, whether you agreed with him about a movie or not.
Ebert fanboys make him look handsome LOL
We are here to laugh at fatso Ebert and his or its boys bullshititng about old movies
Kyle Wilson and we are all laughing at the attention you are trying to get. But when you go to hell for being a piece of shit you will be sorry.
Good comment Kyle. We are all laughing at the gamer boy with the fake pic
Roger Ebert failed at being a screenplay writer. No taste or style ever. Now is about dead, which is a blessing
Watching Casablanca with Roger Ebert..... I think I could die happy after that
One thing I learned is that because of his wife, Ebert never gave a bad review to a Black movie.
If that's true, that's kind of dumb.
@@ulrichvonliechtenstein6138 It's true, it's been said in several places, but I originally heard it from a redlettermedia review.
the cancer left him with a beautiful smile
He was stronger than I ever could be RIP
it really feels like the hate comments are coming from the same person with different accounts. using a lot of the same exact insults and syntax and like just the way they are worded. it’s weird man. imagine being that obsessed.
I think fans of the blob Ebeast are all the same loser hanging on his opinion of which movie to see
Great man! Love from India
I'm here because of "BLT: Better Luck Tomorrow"! You're amazing Roger Ebert!!! :D
What a rememarkable guy, must be tough to live as he has to now. But its nice to see he is happy and is'nt afraid to show his face. I give Ebert two thumbs up :)
Jaw dropping!
This is so sad, the legend, First Gene Siskel and his unexpected death and now look at Roger Ebert, two legends, it's just so sad.
People should know about people he cannot speak
The way he actually emotes with the words at 1:31 is insane
a. you don’t have to like ebert. but it’s so unnecessary to call him and “it”. he was a human being.
b. the “he failed at writing so he can’t judge”’is a lame argument. most of the people calling his work crap probably have never tried themselves, so by their own logic, how can they judge his stuff?
c. somebody who can’t cook can tell if food tastes like shit or if it tastes good. similarly, you don’t need to be a successful film maker to have opinions on films or to be able to tell what is of quality and what isn’t.
He wrote screenplays such as "Who Killed Bambi" and "Vixens Up". I am correct in calling them failed sexist crap. The ugly critic has critics so deal with it
Everyone defends Roger Ebert, but nobody sees him as the disgusting human being he actually is, and he should keep his criticisms to the movies.
Roger you led sich a brilliant life rip
Come on Roger. You know that watching a large DVD in your home is not the same as going to see a film. Man oh man. What a lifestyle. So happy he had a good woman in his life and got to do what he loved.
The films he would watch at home would be the ones that are no longer showing in cinemas...
