- Just a regular day on the farm...except Kevin has to have surgery. After milking the goats, feeding the chickens, and taking care of the pigs & turkeys, it's time to head into town for Kevin to have his deviated septum surgery to help with snoring & breathing.
It goes quite unexpected and Kevin isn't able to help with the farm chores which leaves Lydia and DaNelle to take up the slack. They have to do all the farm chores themselves and between farm life and regular life -- it gets crazy!

Hi there! 👋🏻 We live on a 1-acre farm right in the middle of the busy city of Phoenix, Arizona! Our names are Kevin & DaNelle, and we moved here in 2009, when our kids Ethan & Lydia were just 6 & 4 years old 🥰 Over the years we've raised goats for milk, chickens for eggs, built a fish/swim pond, planted fruit & nut trees, and grew a large garden full of veggies. We've also raised a bunch of other animals like pigs, sheep, turkeys, geese, peacocks, and more!
Now that our kids are away at college, we have settled into doing what we love most -- which is raising & breeding goats ethically to improve genetics. But don't worry, we'll forever love our goofy pet goats like Luna the herd queen & Willow the stump lover. We also still love raising chickens for eggs, gardening, tending to the fruit & nut trees, and growing fish in the pond. We use the fresh goat's milk to make cheese, butter, yogurt -- and we use that + everything else we harvest on our little farm to make delicious meals. Having a getaway from the busy world right in our backyard brings so much joy to us each day, and we hope it brings some to you, too. 🥰

Nicole Meaney you’d be surprised how fast eggs can go. Just cooking for two can use up a lot. My family are full of celiacs and eggs help take the place of gluten in cooking and taste a lot better and are much cheaper than the cereal we can eat
Once you have tasty free range fresh eggs coming in every day, it's pretty exciting and you will want to use them all the time.
Kiwi is such a good Mama....loved seeing her put her wing over her babies on the fence.....she is really special. Hoping Kevin is doing better.....

I am glad Kevin is okay. He is a great person. The shot of him with the milking station lights behind him, in the beautiful glow of the midsummer sunset, is lovely. The pigs feeding separately is satisfying to see.

What agitated my heart was to see poor Kevin so sick.........I am sure all of your subscribers felt for him as I did :(. Thank God that Kevin has such a loving and devoted wife and family who did what was necessary to ensure that he had a complete and comfortable recovery. My rabbit is a free range indoor/outdoor rabbit and he uses the cat flap and the cat doesn't like sharing but bunny doesn't give her a choice 😂
Me too I have outdoor Havana rabbits my goats are even more eretated than me! I had one American Fuzzy Lops and she never made a mess in the barn 🐇. But my Havana rabbits made the barn soooooo messy I have to clean the barn to times a week 😭.

With the blanket over the feeder, I wonder if Luna is now thinking there's food hidden under any sort of flap now, and that's why she's going for the bins in the milking station.
I hope Kevin continues to heal! A homesteader down the road from us was kind enough to show us his farm! The way he raises his rabbits is he builds a pen for them but also digs 16inches below ground and runs wire mesh down. For protection from the predators and to keep dad away so he doesn't end up with 40 bunnies. That happend to him before! 😲 It's just his wife and him so they don't need 40 rabits. He built a little teepee shelter and they just burrow underground. After momma has the babies, around 3 weeks he said they come up. Just thought I'd share Bob's knowledge! We are in zone 6b for refrence in Idaho! ♥️ Take care. 😊

My step-brother had that surgery (the one for snoring) and said the pain was one of the worse things he’s ever been through in his 45 years of life! He said there’s no way he’d ever go through that again, so my heart really goes out to Kevin! Hopefully he’s back to his happy, funny hardworking self again! I love his “Craft or Crap” segments 🤣 I must say, usually I’m really impressed with what he’s able to fix and repurpose! Praying that he continues down the path of feeling better!

Poor Kevin! I’ve always respected how strong and resilient he is on the farm. Not to mention a jack of all trades. Always super impressive I can’t believe such a basic procedure completely knocked him!!! Haha the irony is not at all lost on me. I’m glad he’s feeling better now.

I can't get over how fantastic Kevin looks after surgery, here!! Swelling wasn't tremendously taken over his face. Must be very healthy and great organic foods and a Great nurse/wife!!!!
You should feed one pigs inside the goat pin and one in the pasture, then there will be a whole fence between them.
I have to say. I just found your channel. I also watched videos from only a year ago and your urban garden has grown in leaps and bounds! Very inspiring and moving and I love seeing your whole family included. I am just beginning my urban homestead this year. My dad had that operation for deviated septum and for two weeks it looked like my mother beat him with a bat. They are wanting me to go in for the same thing. I don't snore but I have asthma and the restriction in my nasal canal tend to trigger my asthma during the winter. I already have holes in my ear drums from having hyperbaric oxygen treatments and not being able to get my ears to pop to release pressure as the pressure in the chamber at end of treatment. I had great health till I turned 35 then I started to fall apart. Even managed to get bit by a brown recluse spider five times on the calf. Tell him that all the scares are just badges of glory for all the work and living he's done.

I love your farm. Here I am in Australia following the lives of a herd of miniature goats, assorted poultry, and PIGS in Arizona. Now I understand the expression “to eat like a pig”. Clever how they stand in their pig pans when eating. My Cavy King Charles does that too. I am a city slicker who cannot grow any vegetables or has ever even owned a chook (chicken) or cat.

Hey Weed em and Reap! I was at junior staff training for this day camp im going to do in July, so thats why i am an hour late. Get better soon Kevin , and don't shake your head about too much too soon , I hade surgery on my nose in 93 and I took a surprising amount of time to get better. You have strong family , and it's better for them to have you 100% than not . Be kind to your self.
