    Still in the first half of the interview, but you deserves all the praise in the world for the amount of empathy you can still show towards Carlos while still having your own, very often polar opposite stance - I'm dead certain that very few people could do that now.

    It's one thing to have a sit down and a heart to heart with a mate you're concerned for but it takes massive balls to do what Richard has done and bring the friend on for an interview and extend the olive branch and give them a platform to clraify things while asking hard hitting questions. I can really see now why he is, of course, the CEO of gay. It's those big balls.

      That sounds like a bitter Trump supporter whose parents got deported, grandparents got exiled from Gaza, wife got Medicare removed while having cancer. 😂
      I love watching Ocelote in his years in League, but in one of his later interviews/streams, he acted like a cult leader...
      That rreally bumped me out...NGL

    Probably my favourite piece of work and I've been reading since cod4 times. If I were to describe this conceptually to most people I believe they'd rightly see it as a highwire with a very dangerous thin line to try and walk across. To encourage a friend, to reassure them of your love for them but in an interview that is not shy of probing what has happened then, what happened since and the perception some actions create - some very negative - is not an easy path. The exploration of what might have been done differently in the moment and afterwards and why it wasn't done is just great content. Irrespective of what people conclude, it's a fascinating story and I think the biggest question was why someone savvy enough to play ball simply refused to. That it's possible to do all this with what seems such ease is a testament to the qualities developed over a lifetime & hard-earned trust in this specific friendship. I haven't been inclined to follow Carlos post-G2 but I think this content was important so, when he next comes up in conversation, there will be a better informed opinion available to counterbalance the strong narratives we like to consume from the drama-mill.
    The last 15mins are deeply moving. The story is an important counter to assertions of who he might've been all along, thankyou for sharing something so personal. Carlos' response feels like he's basically agreeing in some sense.. he is still that guy. He'd still accept an approach on merit. He would treat everyone fairly and judge them on their actions rather than anything else. I wonder if the choice to present himself in an edgy way is just to filter people, who would judge him on things he doesn't feel are important, out. If the end result is he is still a great guy but only people willing to treat him fairly and judge him by his actual actions can get the wholesome movie moment we all know and love where the seemingly prickly character has a heart of actual gold underneath, maybe that's not a terrible strategy. Maybe he regrets how many of the people he helped before turned on him & doesn't want to waste that time on them in future - fair enough imo.
    TL;DR skibidi (golden) toilet out of 10

  • @Ridghost
    @Ridghost 15 часов назад +60

    Richard is really trying to give Carlos some olive branches with his follow ups on some of these earlier questions. However, Carlos seems to want to stick to his guns rather than accept any of the points Richard is making. Seems to me that Carlos is seeing the Tate situation in a similar light as his own, despite the extremely different circumstances. Tate really is a cancer, and some of his beliefs have seemed to rub off on Carlos.
    I hope Carlos can see the chains that Tate has put around his neck whilst claiming to be free.
    "The best slave is the one who thinks he is free"
    I loved G2 under Carlos, and I can't believe what his own fans did to him and his organisation over some bloody tweets. Only 20 minutes in, but this has been a hard interview to listen to thus far.

    • @carAddd
      @carAddd 14 часов назад +1

      Yes, the industry larped him out of something great. You make a very good assessment as to why he's so adamant in playing defense for the Tate's and seeing how stubborn he is, I don't think he will ever walk anything back.

    • @goncalocosta9106
      @goncalocosta9106 14 часов назад +4

      I really dont agree with the assessement, i feel that Carlos point is that no matter who it was , he could not apoligize because he believes he did nothing wrong . In this case was the Tate’s, but it could have been Joe Biden. Does not matter

    • @Ridghost
      @Ridghost 14 часов назад +2

      @@goncalocosta9106 That's fair. I've not listened to the whole thing, and without knowing the guy personally it's impossible to know his true intentions.
      In my assessment above I was mostly referring to his opinion on how women should dress being strangely misogynistic for a guy who used to help out women so much in the eSports space. I was also referring to how when Richard brings up the allegations against Tate which have damning evidence (including his own words), Carlos seems to just deflect this line of questioning.
      I do agree that he is the stubborn type to never seek forgiveness when he doesn't think he has done any wrong, even if it's just a form of appeasement - which isn't a bad trait in a human, but unfortunately isn't a good trait for a CEO (Not that CEO's are generally good people or human (lol)).

    • @Maximilian1990
      @Maximilian1990 10 часов назад +1

      The only chains being put around his neck are the ones being rattled by the mob that cancelled him, trying to yank him back into their own black and white reality. There are plenty of criminals like Tate who, by all metrics, did good by some people and those people will bat for said criminals even after their bad deeds are exposed. Also having patriarchal beliefs isn't cancerous and is quite common/widely accepted in most non-westernized societies. Every man is only free to pick his chain in life, don't be angry that his chain is different than yours.

    This is just too rough a watch. I figured there'd be a moment of remorse or regret for the things he's said afterwards but there's just nothing there. Even something as far as alleged human trafficking isn't enough for Carlos to question the path he's choosing to go on. I defended Carlos for the heinous way he was dehumanized but ever since then he has only done things that make those same people who did that to him seem like they were right to do so. It's quite sad.

    I don't think Carlos is a bad man, certainly not a misogynist or racist. He is a good man who has really lost his way. His arrogance, megalomania and ruminations on some ‘deepstate’ covering up truths and his dead set intention to fight that makes him a trailblazer and legend, but only tied to a monolith or canvas like a G2 to work around. Without that, he does unfortunately come off as deluded, and it’s a shame. The section about him discussing some miracle cures was especially hard to listen to, and its a shame how often great men fall to crankdom. It may be a great fall, but I do hope he can tone it down and recover one day. At the very least I'm glad that he seems to be in a somber place physically and spiritually.
    Thanks for your work as always, Richard. I imagine this was one of your toughest interviews to conduct, and it was a masterclass.

    This interview is painful in many ways, as someone who has lost many friends and family members to ideology. The person you knew/know is there but push a bit and they spew party (either) lines or regurgitated bits of propaganda. Richard did a very difficult and brave thing here, giving Carlos the benefit of the doubt and chance to expand upon and clarify his views, but he just seems broken and lost. And we can only say so much as observers, but it just rings home with many painful conversations I have had where you can tell someone is detached from reality and it hurts.

    Man this interview makes me so sad, I really have nothing but mad respect for Carlos and G2 as an org and have been a huge fan for the last 11 years since season 2. But it really pains me to see how much he has changed and him not see where he crossed the line. As someone who does fully agree with traditional gender roles in my personal life, the difference is consent. It is everyone in that consenting to it, personally my girlfriend doesnt work, and I am the caretaker because I like providing that for her. But if she *wanted* to I'd never stop her. I fully believe in women having those careers if they want them, I fully believe in their right to bodily autonomy. its respecting whatever choice a women wants to make, and yes you can choose hey thats not for you but never want to stop anyone from making those choices they want. Women should be in the workforce, make what men make, and anyone who preaches an alpha mentality is a fucking child. I dont think society should push women to be submissive, but I do believe more women would want that traditional lifestyle if more men were worth it instead of these overgrown men screaming how women owe them
