Can I come out to say that even at lan before the first game with CR and Falcons that people were talking about how CR we’re gonna murder Falcons in lines but now after everyone seemed to think it didn’t matter , to me it seemed that everyone wanted CR to win for whatever reason like dam not many cheers for falcons at the LAN event , i know people are gonna say it was just boring but personally i loved and i think falcons winning is pushing some kind of bias that i even saw in Sweden
something i think could be interesting would be changing the import rule to be 2 per region rather than 2 per team (aka a team in NA could have 2 EMEA players + 2 APAC players) cause then it would encourage more teams that have mixed na/eu/apac players rather than just NA+2 APAC or EU+2APAC
Chiyos interview answer was funny "as the support player i must support the team irl" maybe donghak would've cut it with support instead of hate. Idk if this shows growth for Chiyo or he can just play nice if he's surrounded by players he thinks are good enough.
i feel that the finals event should include more slots for each region, like 4 emea, 4 na, 4 asia and 4 china, since its the biggest event of the year, i think it would give more teams a chance to actually get noticed and show their potential on the biggest stage imo
What they need is to endorse collegiate players more. For example, ISU has won 6-7 national championships this past year but they are ineligible to play together for OWCS due to restrictions for region locks. What needs to happen is for Bliz to allow student visas to be eligible for their given region
We need more Korea/Asia slots! The hype to be there irl was AMAZING especially if it's your first time, and for most EU fans it was the first time to be able to see OW irl. I do agree that the Mauga meta was horrible, even seeing it irl and the vibe was amazing the meta .. not so much. We all knew the two Korean teams where going to be up against each other. This is why I'd want more Korean spots or Asia spots in general. I however hope to see a better meta next year, and like I said I want to see more Korean/Asia slots, if these are China teams that would even be more amazing! However with recent rumors China teams might come to EU or NA region
Crazy how Falcons has won every Korea tournament and the international Asia tournament with different metas but people still think they got lucky with this meta, when really they just have the most flexible roster.
They don’t have the most flexible roster 😂 You act like the one Korea tournament and the international Asia tournament and the final weren’t all just Juno/Brig. “Flexible” my ass you fucking dumbfuck idiot Falcons fan. The first Korea tournaments was also Double Flex DPS MAUGA… a meta that favoured them… And CR won in the Asia playoffs… on a meta that favoured Falcons. The metas that Falcons have won on are ALL Mauga, Juno/Brig, or both. Flexible my fucking ass. But of course, you know this, you just can’t take criticism of your dogshit team and it’s dogshit fans can you?
@shocktheworld2954 dallas major was Racoons only big win was also Mauga, what's your point? Literally Racoons only dominated before their ball was figured out. They have nothing outside that as we see from them only having 1 big win.
@ The ball wasn’t “figured out”. The meta is just a lot more anti-ball, with Mauga Juno/Brig making it impossible to play ball. You act like it’s the same exact meta when only Mauga is the same. The Ball wasn’t “figured out”, at all, it was just NEVER really that viable but it just became progressively less viable. It’s good when teams can play other things or have individual plays - and CR winning - ROLLING - on Gib shows how good they are off Mauga. You act like a Mauga Juno/Brig ISNT lucky for Falcons. Get over yourself and your team, you’re not better than anyone else because your team won. I’m done talking with you.
As someone who didn’t get into overwatch until earlier this year, I felt like sometimes it was a bit hard to follow unless I had the liquidpedia page open. Otherwise I felt like it was a good experience and felt very grassroots like other esports I’ve followed in the past and I was able to catch on to player storylines such as proper and lip from their time in overwatch league. I definitely need to set some time this winter break to watch matches from that time.
I do agree that zeta division not making LAN was a tragedy especially with the fact that they took falcons to game 5 both times to qualify and they just couldn’t close it out during those matches 😢😢😢.
As someone who watched every single season of OWL, I barely watched OWCS, with the exception of DreamHack Dallas (which I physically went to). Most of the reasons were because of the formatting, schedule, and general structure. It just seemed pretty messy and third party. Similar vibes to the 2019 World Cup, quite a turn off. Hopefully next season they turn more to how OWL formatted their league and I can enjoy OW esports again.
9:14 I'd argue that emea weren't better than na. Yeah from the beginning to Dallas they were strong but even though Toronto won every stage, the rest of na were actually improving to get on Toronto's level while emea didn't have that and they all remained as good teams
Man crazy raccoon REALLY got unlucky. That was their whole weakness that they didn’t have a great mauga player. They ALMOST got screwed out of Dallas, and this time they sadly did. Any other meta and I think crazy raccoon wins. Paired with it being really hard to win against hanbin literally like a sequid from invincible. Just is the focal point of a hive mind in a complete deathball of a comp. We saw it in JOATS and were seeing it here again
Did they not push falcons to longer matches in the mirror b4 if not outright winning in it? Them “not having a great mauga” is just false when analyzing past team results yall find any excuse to discredit falcons win 🤦♂️
I don’t think CR were “unlucky” it’s just one of the comps they weren’t the best at. Falcons won Korea finals against them on dva/ram meta and again in Asia playing orisa meta. Both teams are flexible playing multiple comps.
I think the "my team" concept completely evaporated. My city is no longer represented so i really dont care who wins. Now i just want to watch whenever Falcons play CR, and sort of wanted to watch whenever Toronto played M80 / SSG played ENCE, and whenever the regions clashed. There wasnt ever that sense of "when is MY team playing?"
I think one of the most important factors would be 3rd party TO support. EWC was a good start, but if you look at cs2 for example, there is a huge possibility with switching from a partner league, to have tournaments with actual prestiege outside of Blizzard sponsored events.
I really like that teams get to keep their org names. A lot of OWL fans turned away from the new league because their city-based teams were no more. I'm the opposite. Seeing more of the OGs like NRG and ENCE return while more modern orgs like SSG and Crazy Racoon take a shot at the OWCS revived my interest, especially as someone that comes from other games where these orgs are more popular.
I genuinely believe the Overwatch scene is the only scene who actually wants a regular season. I get wanting a consistent schedule but you could easily make a consistent tournament cycle schedule without having a ‘regular season’ which is a proven viewership killer over time (see the LCS)
The reintroduction of a regular season format gives the dev team a chance to use teams for balancing more I hope they will do that so we avoid shitty meta's like this one
Idea for playoffs - Have 4 teams for each of the 3 regions go to the playoffs - Have the top team from each region and a wild card (or some other option for the fourth team) get a bi in the first round, then have the other 8 teams play in the first round where loser goes to lower bracket and winner goes to round 2 with all the teams that got bi, then follow the same normal double elim from there
Sounds Great.should cost basically the same amount since all we have to do is fly in 1.5X the Teams and play way more matches.(incase the irony gets lost:everyone wants more teams there,we just cant afford it)
Honestly, i have watched owl since the very first game, and i have barely missed any games, but with the swap to owcs, i really only watched the finals of torneys, and maybe some random twisted mindes games or ftc games. I would love to see more love to some regons and have it be easier to follow, but then again, most games are at really inconvinient times for me (im from LATAM) and im a uni student, so maybe i just dont have the time anymore D:
Ok lets talk about the best team of the year Yeah most people are by default gonna be liek CR but we have to keep in mind that CR lost Korea S 1&2 and asia S2 to flacons Making falcons win 3/4 stages over racoons and both having a lan each
It doesn’t mean anything when Korea 2 and Asia 2 was ALL Juno Brig. Falcons got fucking hammered at Dreamhack and at EWC. Korea S1 was a meta that heavily favoured them.
Not trying to be a hater. Crazy raccoon is a good team and I agree they should be happy with everything that happened. But for lack of a better word they got exposed slightly at least for me. (I cannot think of a better word if you have a better way of saying this please tell me) I say this because I value flexibility more than most and as such having two flex gods in proper and stalker as your dps is the best line you can get. I like heesang I like Max and Junbin. But I do admit I am a Lip and Shu hater so I have bias here. (Why I am? Don't ask I really don't have a reason it's just one of those bias. I don't find them boring they just aren't players I root for)
things i want to see next season: korea just get their own region man theyre too good japan wont be able to compete if we want a more diverse playoffs we gotta separate these 2 more korean seeds so that we can also see other teams like zeta compete 2 seeds for the clearly best region is criminal i want to see china back or i guess spark back you can put them in pacific if you separate korea thats perfect cause cn really only has one team
WAC/Crazy Raccoon's record for 2024: Total matches: 49 Match wins: 42 Match losses: 7 Match win%: 85.71% Total maps: 179 Map wins: 140 Map losses: 38 Map draws: 1 Map win%: 78.21% 🥇x 3 🥈x 3 🥉x 1 Record again Team Falcons: 9 wins 6 losses
I know that for the next year and probably 2026 we will not get a SA region but I would like to see at least 1 team from this region like they did on the EWC, and maybe add upto 16 teams to the Majors, like Brawl Stars that they have 4 teams of na, eu, apac and sa. Maybe there's an argue about SA because is of course the weakest region but even if it is only one spot, there are a lot of people from this weaker regions that play the game and will like to be represent as well
ngl atp u was hatin on na da whole year, iget dat eu was a gauntlet and na was ass in da beginning, but eu as whole never seemed to get better while na was catching up to em rapidly. and after watching na stage 4 u still was talkin down on em? ur ball knowledge is questionable
Meta left an awful taste in my mouth. If hero bans aren't part of OWCS next year I think I am mostly done being a regular viewer. I'll tune in to see the absolute best korean teams play but that's it.
It sucks that the devs seem addicted to concocting the worst possible metas for the final tournaments of overwatch esports events every time without fail. I can’t remember the last time one was genuinely fun to watch. Not super thrilling seeing the team that got thrashed and was worse pretty much the entire year get bailed out last second by their ideal meta that has zero skill expression and is essentially just a glorified Ult Eco simulator. When are we going to get a dive finals ffs 😭🙏
Like it’s really funny that the one map where dive gets played, falcons got completely rolled. Full held and full capped on. I think that says something. Just saying
@@galaxyrend do you think that maybe falcons would not invest valuable scrim time practicing to win a single dive map and instead put all their efforts to perfect their mauga brawl that covers every other map in the pool? yes it says something, it says falcons were in it to win vs crazy raccoons who kept bashing their heads into a wall trying to mirror falcons over and over and losing
@@galaxyrenddidn’t u guys complain in s5 when it was Winston rush with Kiriko sojourn? Not to mention when shanghai won in 4 that was also “a boring finals” all yall do is complain no matter the meta 😂
@@galaxyrend They got full capped and full held but it wasn't a roll. At every single point it came down to a one fight margin, one pick even. Every single OT fight, CR just barely won. That's all it came down to really.
Meta was so boring, the dallas mayor finals was mauga meta done right, he enabled multiple characters but hitscan was still playable. Now it was just Joats but more boring.
Hero bans aren't apart of normal ow they shouldn't be a part of competitive ow. Even if it is more entertaining it alienates people from the matches as they are playing a different format
@ I mean it doesn’t need to be normal overwatch. Ow tourneys are super different already from ranked because of team synergies and varying hero pools. Not everyone on the ranked ladders are gonna be picking hard metas. Hero bans not only helps make these sleeper metas more entertaining, but it allows coaches to have more influence.

Lip once again proves why profit is the true goat
something i think could be interesting would be changing the import rule to be 2 per region rather than 2 per team (aka a team in NA could have 2 EMEA players + 2 APAC players) cause then it would encourage more teams that have mixed na/eu/apac players rather than just NA+2 APAC or EU+2APAC
Proper is finally not carpe!
@@Arkere Korea 1: Mauga. Korea 2: Juno/Brig. Asia 2: Juno/Brig 🤣 Flexible!
I miss OWL
Tommothan gotta be this season’s mvp, bro went on a generational run
ATP are we going to make the best player on every hero
As someone who watched every single season of OWL, I barely watched OWCS, with the exception of DreamHack Dallas (which I physically went to). Most of the reasons were because of the formatting, schedule, and general structure. It just seemed pretty messy and third party. Similar vibes to the 2019 World Cup, quite a turn off. Hopefully next season they turn more to how OWL formatted their league and I can enjoy OW esports again.
hero bans for next season would really shake things up
I cannot wait for your "Best player on every hero" video for this year
Have we considered that maybe the quality of play is bad because the players are sick of this meta too 😂
9:14 I'd argue that emea weren't better than na.
@@D9biAll of that was Juno Brig.
Proper thinking about retirement is crazy. I come from cod scene so the average pros there are 5+ years before retirement
So funny seeing people try to discredit falcons for their playoffs win
Shit on the 25% skins look bad bad deal and I have questions is the prize pool only the 25%?
Idea for playoffs
- Have 4 teams for each of the 3 regions go to the playoffs
- Have the top team from each region and a wild card (or some other option for the fourth team) get a bi in the first round, then have the other 8 teams play in the first round where loser goes to lower bracket and winner goes to round 2 with all the teams that got bi, then follow the same normal double elim from there
Sounds Great.should cost basically the same amount since all we have to do is fly in 1.5X the Teams and play way more matches.(incase the irony gets lost:everyone wants more teams there,we just cant afford it)
@@lehocool7449 That's sarcasm not irony
Will you do the best player of every hero for owcs?
thoughts on the T1 Overwatch trials👀?
5:45, looking at you SSG and ENCE
Honestly, i have watched owl since the very first game, and i have barely missed any games, but with the swap to owcs, i really only watched the finals of torneys, and maybe some random twisted mindes games or ftc games.
I would love to see more love to some regons and have it be easier to follow, but then again, most games are at really inconvinient times for me (im from LATAM) and im a uni student, so maybe i just dont have the time anymore D:
Ok lets talk about the best team of the year
Yeah most people are by default gonna be liek CR but we have to keep in mind that CR lost Korea S 1&2 and asia S2 to flacons
Making falcons win 3/4 stages over racoons and both having a lan each
It doesn’t mean anything when Korea 2 and Asia 2 was ALL Juno Brig.
(I cannot think of a better word if you have a better way of saying this please tell me)
I say this because I value flexibility more than most and as such having two flex gods in proper and stalker as your dps is the best line you can get. I like heesang I like Max and Junbin. But I do admit I am a Lip and Shu hater so I have bias here. (Why I am? Don't ask I really don't have a reason it's just one of those bias. I don't find them boring they just aren't players I root for)
can we have a single lan in owcs without a mauga meta pls ffs.
At least with Reaper Mauga will die. Dallas was a snooze fest but the Stockholm matches were actually pretty fun to watch, despite Mauga ofc.
@dxtrum so fun to watch 3 reaper Ulta and a Juno ult WOW 😮
@@adequtemaster6802u guys complain abt every meta that happens 😂
Lmao I loved it
@@ELI-521 no I complain about stupid ass metas only you are bronze so you probably like mauga
TORONTO! 3rd!
things i want to see next season:
korea just get their own region man theyre too good japan wont be able to compete if we want a more diverse playoffs we gotta separate these 2
more korean seeds so that we can also see other teams like zeta compete 2 seeds for the clearly best region is criminal
i want to see china back or i guess spark back you can put them in pacific if you separate korea thats perfect cause cn really only has one team
Didn’t they only have 2 Korea teams cause of money?

I know that for the next year and probably 2026 we will not get a SA region but I would like to see at least 1 team from this region like they did on the EWC, and maybe add upto 16 teams to the Majors, like Brawl Stars that they have 4 teams of na, eu, apac and sa. Maybe there's an argue about SA because is of course the weakest region but even if it is only one spot, there are a lot of people from this weaker regions that play the game and will like to be represent as well
MAUGA REAPER ECHO JUNO BRIG EVERY SINGLE TIME AAA
ngl atp u was hatin on na da whole year, iget dat eu was a gauntlet and na was ass in da beginning, but eu as whole never seemed to get better while na was catching up to em rapidly. and after watching na stage 4 u still was talkin down on em? ur ball knowledge is questionable
@@bjunnn2534 speak English please
Proper finally gets a dub! Now people can stop calling him Carpe 2.0
@@theyneverlearn3679full capped and full held means it wasn’t even close to a one fight margin what are you talking about
Meta was so boring, the dallas mayor finals was mauga meta done right, he enabled multiple characters but hitscan was still playable. Now it was just Joats but more boring.
Good when raccoons win but bad when falcons win 😂
@@ELI-521 raccoons didnt win with mauga. They won 3 of their 4 maps with winston/ball
@@ELI-521Yes because it wasn’t a hard meta and skill was still a thing dumbass
Tm have best matchs and really good stories to ther players man all formal tm players watch tm match with youbi!!!!
Falcons will get back to beeing dumstered as soon as the meta is about mechanicl skill again .
And their fans will never admit it
ermm CR actually got 3rd once
THEY NEED TO BRING BACK HERO BANSSS
Hero bans aren't apart of normal ow they shouldn't be a part of competitive ow. Even if it is more entertaining it alienates people from the matches as they are playing a different format
@ I mean it doesn’t need to be normal overwatch. Ow tourneys are super different already from ranked because of team synergies and varying hero pools. Not everyone on the ranked ladders are gonna be picking hard metas.
Hero bans not only helps make these sleeper metas more entertaining, but it allows coaches to have more influence.
I agree, hero bans make the game so much more fun. It punishes Teams that can’t flex.
Korea is just gonna win every tournament lol unless all these guys retire which they might but still
I do find it kinda funny the one map they don’t play mayga and play dive they get 3-0ed on honorable overwatch team wins lol
wanna give a spotlight to a channel called Apostle he has a series called "WOW : Watching Overwatch" he covers everything pro overwatch t1 to t3 team changes etc
I Love Korea but if we get more Asian teams, the EU and NA will be getting smacked. I want more of them but then viewers are just going to see Asian on Asian all szn.
Team Falcons chose the wrong Saudi import
Quartz would get 0 playtime plus majed was there for marketing reasons only rarely getting play time
Shit metas for OW finals are a timeless tradition. As a NYXL fan I will never forget losing season 1 to the brig playoff meta.
s1 meta was great wdym, so much flexibility from double sniper to 3-2-1 to tracer dive. Nyxl just sandbagged stage 4 and it bited their butts againts hungry fusion
Yup blame brig who was barely played if at all instead of nyxl not preforming well 😂
@@ELI-521 If you watched that series Eqo was using Brig a lot.
The meta was boring, but honestly I don't enjoy watching a comp like what twisted minds was running either. Just boring slow poke from afar comps, and to add insult to injury, with mauga. Just very boring overall
another garbage meta for playoffs…
