Can you use the same chord shapes for a song on the guitalele as you would on a guitar, even though the actual chords will be different? For example, if a song has a C chord in it, can you grab the C shape fingering on the guitalele as well even though it'll be a different chord? I think it should work out since all the chords played are moved up a 4th uniformally so that the intervals between them will remain the same. Thus, the song should be recognizable.

I really don't know, what brand is making the best strings for guitalele. I have been purchasing classical guitar strings and using them instead. Also, congrats on your victory and enjoy that little instrument :)
Ha! Speaking of my "win", turns out it is more of an old Mexican novelty miniature guitar than it is a guitalele. Odd thing is, someone put some serious craftsmanship into this so-called novelty guitar. It had crack in it, which someone repaired with cleats, something that you'd think would be ignored if it were a toy. It is cleaned up, tuners lubed, and even the bridge shaved and lowered for better string action. I even had to reset the bridge because as old as it looks, it separated easily from the body without using heat. Looks like it was glued to the varnish, ugh... So, it is getting the same treatment as if it were one of my normal sized guitars :) It had steel strings on it, but now getting classical strings like you suggested. Thanks!!!
