When I die, I'd want this to be the last thing I hear. I can't imagine such beauty in 12tet. Thank you for this truly incredible cover. i can die happy (: ps: this song literally sends me into a trance. those chord changes tho. also what is that chord at 3:30 to 37?
Wow, that’s so kind!!! At 3:30 you mean the final chord right? I don’t recall the exact progression, but in 12-TET this ending sequence ends on an ~F sharp chord. However, 22-TET causes these intervals to slowly ascend throughout, giving something that sounds more like G major. I also include the 11/8 in that final chord :)
haha wow! This so sparkly and lovely! I'm more interested to hear 22 now that I've finally tried it. It's funny that I also ended up doing somewhat of a cover tune. I'm still waiting to see if anyone can recognize what it is. Anyway, love this!! 😍
That definitely works! When I was younger, I had this friend who always said, "If only you knew the power of 22, you wouldn't say such foolish things!" The quote was from some old late night overdubbed martial arts movie, but I think this must be its hidden meaning. BTW, I never heard of Dsilton before today's chat... there were good moments and wth moments IMO. I like that claviwhatever, with all the extra keys, that they use.
If anyone wonders what I mean about "claviwhatever", just look up "dsilton" for the 3 piece band's performance videos, and you'll see it. The upper keyboard.
I love your covers and this one is just super impressive! I don't understand how you are able to hit microtonal notes. How can you even practice that? My only criticism is especially in this video it seems like your vocals are resonating around your throat instead of your belly, if that makes any sense. This makes them sound a lot less powerful than they could be.
You practice singing microtones in the same way you practice singing ""regular"" tones. They aren't inherently harder to hit, they only seem to be that way because the pitches of 12EDO (A=440) are burned into memory via cultural exposure.
I JUST LIKED ALL THE COMMENTS ON THIS VIDEO ! NO COMMENT SHALL BE LEFT UNLIKED, INCLUDING MINE ! Godlike preformance and vocals and violining by the way ❤❤❤❤
Wow, the original version almost sounds out of tune now that I've listened to this one. The lyrics are super expressive especially around 2:00, that rising line is so BRIGHT! The Lumatone palette looks much better than during the Microtonal Monday, I'm glad the lighter beige tone was more distinct this time around. Love the subtle reference to "the other Golden Hour" too! ;) Also, violin Stephen looks kinda bored at 2:53 and for some reason it made me laugh XD Question: the background video in the beginning is the same as the one used in Bazil Müzik's "Another day went by", is that a coincidence? I believe it's a stock video (which is fine), but I find it funny that we're starting to have enough xen content that the stock videos are being reused in multiple contexts.
I'm just listening to the original version now, and it actually does sound out of tune compared to this one! So strange. I mean it's a good song, but what Stephen did with it is really magical and somehow just feels more natural than how the song works out in 12edo... Even tuning aside, the cover is impressive. The texture here is more tastefully sparse than in the original. But I'm also not a fan of how pop music tends to completely saturate the spectrum.
This is so beautiful! ❤I even sang along and I never heard this song before. And stealing the violin from a child to play it for the cover is hilarious. 😂I'm kidding about the stealing part, but for real, it seems to me that your violin is way too small for you. And now it reminds me that I could use my own violin for microtonal songs. Maybe I could cover exact this song too, but with a different arrangement.
Well done! - Your tuning of the Lumatone is weird - it's something like a wide M3 higher than the key mapping suggests (C being the first key in a row of three white keys - but it's not tuned to anything close to C). This would be very confusing for me, at least if I'd look at the keys while playing! What's your violin A tuned to, 440Hz? So is that on the F key on the Lumatone?
Haha! I’m not sure what the A is, but if I had to guess it’s probably somewhere in between 432 and 440. I just picked something that sounded like an A based on what pianoteq gave me
There’s 16 notes per octave being used: an E ptolemy’s diatonic scale (not superpyth) with the ~10/9 also (8 notes). In the Pre-Chorus we gain 5 notes, the G^-E^-G from the higher leading chord, and A^-B^ from the ending G♯v dominant seventh. (13 notes). In the chorus, we get two new notes from A minor with an 11/8 on top (C^ and D^), and a D from the E7 (16 notes).

i finally found something microtonal that adam neely hasn't commented on
Easy solution: just watching all my videos :)
Am I bad for liking it within the first 7 seconds. All your covers are wild, love your work bud
fantastic!! your production is improving so much to my ears. sounds awesome and your ideas are shining through it.
Quality is improving a lot !!!
How to get a bigger bright-dark expression range
Jacob: What about G‡ major key?
Stephen: Heck, just use another tet
great cover !!! was here before the million views

I'm purposely withholding power so the next a cappella monstrosity I'm working on hits harder by contrast

Nice. I like to see more slower chord comping + vocals in microtuning. Nice video too.
glad to find this randomly

It sounds out of tune since it’s not tuned to 440 like most songs

@@orisoapperson8608 I got news for you about the original song bud
Better than the original 12-TET Golden Hour
golden hour, no way!
whoa nice
LOVE this song and your rendition is good too
Amazing cover!!
very cool
wild and awesome, not sure if it's working for me though. Maybe you have to listen to this a lot to get used to it?
Yes :)
Awesome!
love this

it's a cover of a 12tet song
@@MichaelDarrow-tr1mn i know, but the 22EDO rendition sounds significantly better :)
really cool cover, just that the timbre of the singing was kinda weird, is it intentional so the overtones fit better with the temperament?
