She do things of rich people. Missed with the best musicians and artists, and bussines people...the best wine is not popular, its for some. I admire her intense life. All of them. 💛
One of my favorite albums of all time. Not even exaggerating. Live Through This was so grossly underrated that it should’ve been a crime. It encompassed the 90’s Seattle grunge movement.
Underrated because ppl loved to take Courtney down and make it about everything but the music. idiots. Was listening to an old interview with her yesterday. Intelligent, eloquent, dismissed by the misogynist press and completely overshadowed by Kurt's tragedy. I saw them at Reading, incendiary.
Thank you so much for this. I was 15 years old and in this crowd. It still remains the best show I've ever seen. The band's presence that night was just... I've never felt anything like it. This is like getting one of my best memories back. I appreciate it more than I can tell you, Larry!
I remember you from kitty radio, and your avatar was courtney from the SPIN 1994 photoshoot, but I can’t recall your user name except that it was one word ?
I was born in '94, and this has been one of my favorite albums since I was a small kid listening along with my brother who's ten years older than me. Courtney is such an inspiration to me. She is tough as hell. Thank you Courtney, for sharing that strength with women of every generation. I don't know who I would be without you.
So good to see a comment section with less of the conspiracy theorists. Thanks for this upload. Makes me miss the days of Napster and the hole site forum, kitty radio. I even remember the conversation heart theme of the site. When I learned the guitar at 15 I would find the tabs on the forum and I just remember standing in front of my vanity mirror with my leg up on my amp and pretending I was Courtney Love... Always while my parents were at work. I'd get home from school and have like an hour to smear some of my mom's dark lipstick on and play before they got home!! So silly but I loved it. Now I have a 12 yr old daughter that just got into Hole and Sleater Kinney. I try not to force my music on her but I'm so elated she loves Hole and we can listen to it in the car on the way to school 💙😊 And all the songs I learned on guitar I play for her and she looks at her mom like, "wow, I didn't know my mama was so cool" 😂
Napster!!?? That was the beginning of the end for the music industry. Nothing good or nostalgic about that , if you love music then Napster was a cancer to music and is still being felt by musicians who can barely survive.
Holy sh@$ shut the f up. I’ve never had to pause a video to comment and I never feel a desire to. But 🤯 Blew my mind I guess it’s funny in hindsight that you, me and I’m guessing now others had our own version of this that we never really told anyone thinking it’s my weird fun thing I did, fuk off thinking im the only one!! until now! My brother is 7 years older. I was maybe in 6th 7th and he was the drummer of an awesome punk band. It was my garage they practiced in, so everyone left their guitars amps PA and of course “what is now my drums” at my house in the garage all set up like a stage just waiting. It was a garage for band practice not cars. Looked pretty dingy. I’d wait till he was at work, went out to the hot garage but feeling sweaty made it more real. I’d been learning guitar for years but not the skill to actually sing and play. I’d throw my leg up barefoot play some power chords (not much more than her) and put Live through this on the loud PA, my mic on 2nd and guitar and do an entire set. Screamed my heart out and really felt that shit. Put some hard core emotion and angst of my own and sometimes loose my voice for a couple days. God knows what the neighbors thought. I was loud. This is also the album I decided to put the music through headphones and start learning to play drums. I swear this cd and sublime I can play every drum note still (my steering wheel knows this well!) and of all the shit I can’t remember every day not a single ‘oh, YEAH or lyric have I forgotten. Man that shit was fun. Seriously you blew my mind. Bad Ass Chicks know what’s up. 🤘 Bet you grew up to be a badass weird adult who if u have any teenagers maybe relate to them more than my actual peers. Oh maybe that’s just me. Lol
This is the essence of great rock n roll. Every last morsel of this is greatness. Patty, Eric, Melissa, CLove, these songs but most all the talent and spirit of rock n roll that these four people gave. This video is absolute perfection. A time capsule of the best rock n roll of the 90s and surely of all time. I am so moved and grateful this recording exists. Thank you, Larry.
You're very welcome LauraBeth! Glad I have this video to share & happy it's bringing back some memories for some & a time machine for those who weren't around yet!
Yes! You can’t deny in the early 1990’s was awesome and no one cares about being PC. Saying the N word is just despicable! “ sleeping with my enemy= herself!” I know the song is not about herself but still! Why can’t she make amazing music like this? Her new stuff is bad! I can’t listen to it!
That’s so cool. I’m 15 right now I wish I got to experience the 90s music scene. I’ve listened to Veruca Salt too so this show would’ve been incredible for me ugh. I saw the pixies live so that was a piece of something at least
Courtney recently recorded a song called "California Stars" in her living room with one tiny guitar and her little pomeranian. I cry cuz it's so magic and this betch is still singin and how thee hell she's still alive, idn. 💓
If time travel is invented, I'm going back to all the Hole shows I missed, including this one. Until then, I can watch this. Thanks for posting this Larry!
I saw them 9 days earlier in Detroit. It was my second concert ever, and I've been sad for my entire adult life that show was never bootlegged. This is the next best thing!!!
I’ve been watching this live over and over again, and seeing her change lyrics for Kurt makes me cry, she has talent that everyone walks over, she’s truly one of a kind. Ily cl ❤️🔥
An Instagram Live she was doing was on my "Recommended" and I was like oh that's Kurts insane wife. She was actually quite pleasant and (relatively) normal. She said her favorite song she ever did was "Awful". I checked it out. Love it. Love the album. I've never heard any other stuff by her so this whole concert is foreign to me. It seems much less...pop? Not what I expected but she was a hell of a performer. Glad I stumbled on her 30ish years late
Celebrity skin is Hole's only pop album. I like it for what it is but I much perfer their previous grunge/punk sound. Live Through This is Hole's best work.
My jackass catholic facist psycho father slandered her name up and down and pointed out to me that she was what I was supposed to hate. So when I was little I did. Wonder what he'll think that despite the prayer he wrote that I would become a Ned Flanders but misogynist and violently homophobic (I believe this what they call a Matt Walsh?) I am 10000x like Courtney
@@michelle.5518 WTF are you babbling about? You obviously have a lot of hate for her and it looks like you are trying to to thrash her as if anyone cares anymore. She can care less about anyone on RUclips or anywhere else that trashes her. She lived a life as musician and actress. She was pretty good at both. Not bad for someone who is worth over 100 million of Her Own Earnings. She also inherited over 245 million from Cobain's publishing rights. Kurt. I think she will be just fine.
I was at this show as well! Stood in the right balcony. The opening act was Veruca Salt. I knew there was footage out there cause I saw a couple songs on tv. MTV I think. So cool to see this all these years ago.
Me too!-I love Veruca Salt, particularly Louise Posts guitar work on their debut record, "American Thighs"! The entire record is fantastic, from the beautiful vocal harmonies, clever lyrics, bad-a.., heavy riffs!-you just gotta love Veruca salt!! I would also love to see some VS footage!-there isn't much out there currently
Courtney is if anything a very emotional passionate woman and it definitely comes out in her music she doesn't hide who she is always raw always ready to throw a middle finger in the air she's a true gen-x personality
This girl was a nasty bum before she met her she manipulated her way into his life God what she wanted and took him out in her own words he was her human ATM suck the life out of him.
This was October 1994. Six months prior, her husband, Kurt Cobain, blew his brains out with a shotgun. Four months prior, her bass player, Kristen Pfaff, died from a heroin overdose. I honestly don't know how Courtney Love and the rest of the band found the strength to keep going.
it's quite obvious why she was having such an easy time carrying on, it's because she didn't care lol. I'm pretty sure everyone knows that at this point. This woman can't even play her guitar, literally. Go watch some videos on RUclips, there's dozens of them where she is pretending. She's probably one of the biggest posers known to mankind.
For the ones who say that she never played the guitar ...... when she starts to play the guitar in Sugar Coma it's possible to see how she knew to play the guitar in that time. while she is playing the first chords Eric isn't even playing and another guy comes to the stage and brings another guitar to him and she keeps playing normally without his help.... soon later he starts to play with her. I don't know how much of this song he played with her but I believe that in that time she really knew how to play a guitar.... very simply ...nothing exceptional. obviously Eric was much better than her but she was a real guitar player in that time.
@@frankelder1158 and that is part of what creates her sound and presence, there are so many incredible female guitarists these days but CL is considered a much bigger deal than any of them. She is creating living art.
She was just beginning. One of my favorite albums is pretty on the inside. Hardcore chicks with mental ilness were dragged terribly up until a couple years ago. In the 80s thru the late 90s adolescent psych wards were packed with latchkey kids with mohawks and cuts. I was one of em. Love u Courtney.
@@JayG-v4lwhat do you want to know? Can't tell if you are being for real? If you really want to know more about what life was like for west coast punk girls in the late 80s I'll tell you.
I love it too and I think I finally figured it out: looks like small sections twisted with wax and left to unravel. She's got pretty thick hair, tho, so won't work on everyone
Everybody hated Courtney, except 15 year old girls. And that is all you need in the pop music business. Courtney was great before Kurt, that is why he married her. Great show.
She looks so beautiful standing up there. She's a true Queen! She glows! My Queen has a light coming from her that can never be extinguished. That voice, that guttural scream of anguish comes straight from her soul. I adore her. She saved me. She is life itself. Every song makes me cry with emotion. I have met very few that understand. I would have killed myself if not for her, she gave me the strength to carry on. Thank you. Adrianne Meeks.
She said she did it bc she was so fucked up at this point during the tour she didn’t care…she said she did it every night bc she was just empty and felt nothing.
@@sugaredviolets2085 She had relapsed on Smack and made frequent Trips to Kent to go purchase it. She spent 3 months mourning Kurt. And Plaff tragically overdosed that June.
This is the best live show I’ve seen from one of her greatest eras. Great pro quality. There are tons of Nirvana, but not many hole. Thanks for sharing. If anyone knows more, let me know.
Why is nobody talkin about the fucking outrageous stage dive abuse ? How dare they abuse her like that? It wasnt part of her show , this is really disgusting. " do you do that to all the guys?" Courtney said. Because yea of course they dont .Fuckin buttholes. It's hard to be a woman in every era. Great concert btw. I love hole so much but the last scene really breaks my heart every fuckn time. Love you, Courtney.
I had to pause and walk away. Can you imagine how terrifying it was, so fall from exhilaration of the dive, the hot love of the crowd, to suddenly being grasped, tore at, literally defrocked. I would have bit, scratched, swung.
Thank you for the comment. It is abuse, it is sexism and misogyny. We must name things/issues exactly as what they are. Not Courtney and no other woman does deserve this, it is getting so old and injustice against women still going on a lot in this world. I love Courtney and I love her for her fearless and powerful FEMALE voice. I guess she was and is a role model for so many girls and women. At least she is for me, her art let me literally "live through this".
"Live Through This" was a great album that I still iisten to today. I worked at a club at this time and this tour came through and I went from not giving a crap about Hole to being a fan. It was sort of like a train wreck you couldn't stop watching. She talked about Kurt (who was recently deceased) on stage and was generally insane haha.
The fact that they ripped her clothes off at the end made me kinda pissed, she's right they wouldn't have done it to a guy, lol I probably would've started destroying shit too if I was her.
@@dolleyes5 There's a big difference between willingly taking your clothes off on stage and having them violently ripped off... If this happened to any other female artist everyone would be horrified.
I am so happy you uploaded this! My favorite Hole show ever! Seeing a clip of Miss World from this show when I was 13 years old (16 years ago...) introduced me to Hole. ❤️
God I miss these days!! Nirvana, Hole..they were both my LIFE at the time...got me through some tough shit!! I don't care what anyone says, Courtney at this time was AMAZING!! When she sang she put everything she had into it and she wasn't afraid to speak her mind! And BTW IMO she had NOTHING to do with Kurdt's death, he was a very troubled soul, in more ways than one, who was too good for this world, may he forever rest in peace!! Thanks for the memories! I'm 50 yrs old now but watching this I feel like I'm 23...
Jesus...the music I grew up with and made me who I am today: still kinda fucked up but intelligent, opinionated and overflowing with empathy. Thanks for everything!
The sweet sounds of Hole soothe my soul…. I have loved them since I was a teenager , always will. Best band. Would’ve loved to see them live!! Killer show 😍
I’m a now 60 year old man who just now finally sat through this set for first time. I look at those girls singing along thinkin damn, they are in there late forties early 50s now. Always liked the grunge but I had a special female friend that looked so much like Courtney, with the same,um, problem. 3 years of insane weekends, then she died. Still miss her. Makes this hard to listen to without smashing iPad eh
yes, terrible. she is still branded. She has always been linked to Cobain's death. Every idiot believed that crap because it's so easy to have a scapegoat. and admittedly, of course she fit perfectly.... it must have been very hard for her. to lose her husband who somehow caused her so much pain and then the media..... and then the hate of the nirvana-fanboys and girls
Omg I just realized that too. Subscribed too. I’ll be 31 July 7 and I been a life long fan. My four year old daughter is just like me at her age. 💗 is this available for purchase on dvd anywhere @larry schemel
It is such a joy to see a concert where there are no cell phones with their bright screens in every hand. Miss those days. Thank you for sharing this. Never saw them live, yet loved Hole's early albums/tapes.
I had this on VHS ! I probably paid 40 bucks for it too, it also had another show on the tape, I believe it was at Madison Square garden? She opened singing Bon Jovi , you give love a bad name!
Man this show is brilliant and heartbreaking all at once, Courtney singing, howling her heart out, 6 months after Kurt died. Sugar coma had me in tears, you can literally see her in bits singing " he said he'll never, ever go away". They were both icons.
Thank you so much and God bless you a million times for posting this. I have been to many concerts that I would do a lot to to go back to relive. There are many bands that I truly regret not having seen in concert. Hole is one one those bands I never saw. The "Live Through This" 94/95 and the Celebrity Skin 98/99 tours are two eras of this band I would love to have seen. Some bands have an intangible quality thay is very difficult to pin point that brings me back to these live videos over and over again. Hole is one of them. Thank the Lord if there is one that these concerts were video recorded in the first place and then after that for someone nice enough to post the video on You Tube.

I totally agree. I love this performance. I listen to it a lot and I miss that kind of music especially this album.
I was born in '94, and this has been one of my favorite albums since I was a small kid listening along with my brother who's ten years older than me. Courtney is such an inspiration to me. She is tough as hell. Thank you Courtney, for sharing that strength with women of every generation. I don't know who I would be without you.

I was there! It was so loud it probably permanently damaged my hearing lol
that must've been a top tier experience, wish I was there
You caught the wild year of Hole, so now you're lucky 💋😛
Kittyradio! 💙💙💙 I miss it!
Me too! To all of this!

But 🤯
Blew my mind
I guess it’s funny in hindsight that you, me and I’m guessing now others had our own version of this that we never really told anyone thinking it’s my weird fun thing I did, fuk off thinking im the only one!!
Bet you grew up to be a badass weird adult who if u have any teenagers maybe relate to them more than my actual peers.

Wow. She’s using her voice for real and the sounds are coming from those instruments they’re handling. So this is how live music used to be.
Still is that way.

Been a fan of Nirvana and Hole since they first came out. Look more into their deaths though. That's all I have to say.
@@Amalia-no7xt and bush did 911, give it a fucking rest.

Y’all seriously can’t be this delusional
it's quite obvious why she was having such an easy time carrying on, it's because she didn't care lol.
VERY VERY VERY simple! That's fine though cause that's the music she liked & wrote.
She admits herself that she isn't a skilled guitarist and kind of gave up on developing it.
@@frankelder1158 and that is part of what creates her sound and presence, there are so many incredible female guitarists these days but CL is considered a much bigger deal than any of them. She is creating living art.
