For what its worth, i can confirm my ally X power output also reduces when battery is low, i just let it run down to 7 percent. At 13 percent it reduced from 25w to 20/21w and stayed there. It did not reduce to 18w, stuck at 20w with very brief dips to 18 but straight back up to 20w. Total system power was reading 31.1w off the battery. my exact conditions for this was maximum fans (to accelerate battery drain for testing), ally X set to 25w the whole time, temperature was reading between 51 and 53c, so maybe the lower temps allowed it to stay at the higher 20w (not sure why).
@@BarelyAverageDude well we could say that lol... but we could also say that one would have to be blind to see that the ally X is not brighter during this test. Even if they are set the same in software (50 percent for example) we know that does not mean they match up exactly and i think thats pretty clear to see, the Ally is much brighter i would say which might have a significant impact. If anyone is considering if the Ayaneo kun is worth it - go to best buy and compare... The rog ally X is $200 less and has a bigger battery, more ram and a more modern APU.
The Kun I’m using is the 32gb version and the z1 extreme is not more modern than the 7840u. It’s the same processor without the ai cores. Ally has no trackpads so it automatically loses. 😅🤷🏽♂️
@@BarelyAverageDude How does it invalidate my point that the Ayaneo kun costs more money and offers less? Best buy only sells the 16GB/512GB skew ATM and it costs a grand while the ally X is 800. Both are still expensive if you ask me but if I were in the market and i compared what's being offered locally we can clearly see the rog ally X is still the better buy. Granted you get a bigger screen, more USB slots and track pads, which is nice and all, but having to spend an extra $200 for less storage, less ram and a slightly smaller battery kinda doesn't seem like a good deal to me.
@@VyllenceGaming I did a battery test and the Ally X didn't even last 10mins more than the Kun. Considering that you shouldn't even run your battery to 0% I call that a draw. @@BarelyAverageDude I get it, it's not necessarily more modern but it does have tweaks which give it 1.4% improvement in performance at the cost of power draw. But with that being said can you still recommend a kun over the ally X when the base model (which offers objectively less performance and storage) costs $200 more? Not to even mention the 32GB model which you got that costs $1400 (nearly double the ROG ally X) with the only benefits being a bigger screen and trackpads? That's the problem I think most people have with Ayaneo (myself included), the price point is awful especially in a market oversaturated with competition that is more affordable. I get why it's your favorite given your preferences, but even if you give it the benefit of being more comfortable to hold, a bigger screen and touchpads I don't know if it warrants the boosted price tag. I think that's the point that most other techtubers mention in their videos. I get that that's not what this video is about and it's good that you did the comparison.
