Fucking hell, these guys knew how to rock it out. I saw them in London with M83, and it was the most amazing gig I've ever been to. Loud. As. Fuck. And so fucking crisp.
0:00 Sad And Lonely 5:25 First Wave Intact 14:39 The Road Leads Where It's Led 19:38 Pharaoh's Daughter 25:29 Nowhere Again @david lz Given the presence of tracks from only Now Here Is Nowhere, I suspect this performance predates Ten Silver Drops (which came out April 2006). Setlist.fm has entries for them at Bowery Ballroom Apr 13 2004, Mar 12 2002, and Mar 11 2002. If those are the only dates to choose from, I'd go with April 13, 2004
I agree it's the 2004 show based on the setlist as you mention, and that I don't think they had the following in 2002 to play the Bowery two nights running... but that site's not completely accurate, either; they're missing shows. One I recall the exact date of was Nov 4 2006; they played two nights in a row at the Warsaw in Brooklyn to end their in-the-round tour.
Pretty sure this was first a Yahoo Music feature (or something similar), I remember because it was right around the time Nowhere Again dropped as a single and I became obsessed with them, I found this online right at that time looking into the band.
@@mtsnmtl Yes, I was at the Warsaw at the last show...such a bizarre, but great-sounding venue, with huge, muscular, stoic Polish security guards in black lurking around everywhere, and you could get delicious pierogis basically at the bar...while waiting for the show to start, Josh Garza appeared and gave me his 'food ticket' the band had been given for free food, cos he wasn't hungry, lol. I wolfed down the pierogis, then wolfed down about 8 10mg vicodin and staked out a spot right in front of the guitar, in the round. What an amazing night
Anyone know the date of this show?? I first saw them when they opened for Kings of Leon [I specifically went for them, though], and then made sure to see them on every fucking tour possible after that, including the amazingly original "In the Round" tour, up until Ben left. Now Brandon and Josh have put out a new record, which--especially considering they did it without a 'replacement' guitarist at this point--is fucking amazing, and I can't wait until they are able to tour again so I can see them up close once more. I really, really missed this band. Obviously I wish the brilliant Ben Curtis were still alive to kick out the jams even further (although even if he were, that doesn't necessarily mean he'd be interested in re-joining) but Brandon + Josh are keeping the dream alive. Easily the most underrated band of the 21st century thus far.
mywhychromosome Chris Kyle was the guitar player on most of the tracks. Brandon specifically said in an interview he hopes to work with the other musicians again if they get to tour.
@@pkreillly Okay, yeah see, especially because of the much increased prominence of the higher, glassy synth-lines [and corresponding decreased prominence of 'conventional' lead guitar] I had been under the impression that Brandon essentially worked it out on his own. I'm a big fan of this record [personally, I felt the 3rd was essentially a disaster], although I still feel in the back of my mind that if they just happened to find the right particular guitar player--admittedly a bit of a needle-haystack proposition--they could be as strong of a trio as they had been with Ben. That aspect on the new record I would just say is 'competent'
@@mywhychromosome I really rate the 3rd record...Phil Karnatts is off the scale imo...strange it's not on streaming sites...well not apple anyways...I'm currently listening to the CD of it in the car
@@stuartcarswell2815 I'm trying to go back to it, with all these years of distance now, and give it another shot; the first 2 records are just so special to me that it can be tricky. Although I did really dig "Like I Can", which I Think was more or less the last thing they released with Phil, a stand-alone single
@@mywhychromosome the first 5 tracks are really special for me...I was disappointed when Ben left but I think Phil brought something different...it's like a bit more crazy but it somehow fit...gonna get the new one on CD if possible for the car..peace man x
Great video..... I love these guys. First saw them when they opened for Interpol at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia. November 7th 2004. It was an amazing night.....
Yeaaaaa I was there too!! I'm not fond of the sound there, so I went to the DC show at the 930 Club too. Such a spectacular band. I'd go to a million more shows if it were possible. :(
Brynn deLorimier I was at that DC show...drove 3 hours just for that! I saw them three times live and they blew me away each time. Excited that a new album is coming out next month!
🤤..Where did you steal this from?? I've shearched for a decade of this performance. My fist concert was in Irving plaza in '05 to see them and Autolux was opening! Thanks for posting this, best live rec of pharaohs daughter.
Wow haven’t seen this promo footage in forever. Wish we could get back the promo vids for All at Once(it’s not important) and Better Bring Your Friends.
They did not get the attention they deserved. It's kind of sad. This is Robert Plants son after all. I just dont understand why they are so obscure in the public eye.
19:38 Pharaoh's Daughter, my favorite song by them, the only way to see it performed live. Amazing performance!

this must be April 2004... there was also a Bowery Ballroom show June 23 2004, but a much longer set with stuff from September 000. so incredible.

Also, this has songs cut from it. They go into It's a Bad Wind but it goes away.

That was the first time I saw them too! Totally slayed. I saw them probably 7 times after that. Second favorite band behind the Cure.

My homie turned me onto these cats. Talent know talent. Big up. I seek them out as a result.
Rip Ben...
Wonderful stuff - anyone able to put a date to this? I saw 'em live in the UK in 2006 and it remains the loudest gig I ever attended!
OMG how good is this

Autolux are amazing
Just wow. Where the heck did this come from? And now? Why buried so long
They were so good live! i think i saw them in 04 or 05 maybe
Yeah, saw them 3 times around those years...so great!
I do love ”indie” and TSM in particularly👍
First Wave Intact is EPIC!
Jesus Christ, i would have mortgaged my house to be at this.....

If they had brought in two more band never to fill out the sound they would have been huge. Nirvana had to do this too before they got the big time.

Scott Smith didn't know that! 🤓
Nope. Entirely untrue.
Wtf are you talking about lol, no they aren't
In case anyone is interested, they're touring this October. Opening for Metric. 🙌🏼 Best news I've seen in years!
